Bring your family to Colorado and experience a taste of the Old West. Built in 1898, the Puetz Saloon was frequented by the local townspeople. The patrons were a varied lot from miners to outlaws, gamblers and honest workmen; women did not enter unless they were a saloon girl or a 'shady lady'. Life in those days was difficult and the saloon keeper provided a place to 'let loose' or just socialize.
Today, all are welcome. Located in Hesperus, Colorado just 10 minutes from downtown Durango, relax on several acres while soaking up your own piece of history and enjoying the brilliance of the La Plata Mountains, the river, a creek and a pond. The Saloon has been lovingly restored by hands of a master craftsman, the owner's father. It is bursting with antiques and all the special comforts of home.
WINTER/SUMMER WONDERLAND: Only a couple miles from 'Hesperus Ski Area' which offers night skiing until 9pm, 'La Plata Mountains' a mountain playground ideal for the outdoor enthusiast with miles of snowmobiling, skiing (back country/cross country), snowshoeing and dog sledding.
Summer time offers endless hiking and biking trails with spectacular views and scenery.

Thanks for a wonderful stay in your adorable cabin! You have made it so cute with all your great antiques and knickknacks! We hope to return someday. The kitty also made it feel like home-she ate everything we ate.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is such a restful, peaceful place! Beautifully decorated and such expert craftsmanship! We were careful to respect your lovely belongings and enjoyed the atmosphere they create immensely. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful spot. We didn't feel displaced on our vacation, we felt at home-the dog quickly learned to stay at the back of the property and all was good. Never had to touch the thermostat-what great weather!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We took our grandson and daughter in law with us in September for a short get away. We all loved it. The trees had a golden hue, it was beautiful. The guys played at the river all day, and we had time to visit nearby Durango as well. The cabin was clean and inviting. Thanks for your hospitality. We stayed in this Hesperus home as the aspens and cottonwoods were changing colors. What a delight! The house is comfy, with everything you would need. There are lots of interesting antiques and reminders of the old West. Recommended. —BarbaraRecommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway.
