Restored 1892 Miner's Cottage in Idaho Springs -- Dog Friendly
- Minimum stay:2 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Welcome to the Miner Cottage, a restored 1892 miner's cottage located just two blocks from historic downtown Idaho Springs.
The Miner Cottage features all the comforts of home, including electricity, running water and indoor plumbing. In other words, it's been updated, but not too updated.
The living room has two leather couches and a large leather hassock, all perfect for your doggie to stretch out on for a nice nap. Did we mention it's dog friendly? There's also a wood-burning stove to keep you warm and toasty on those cold mountain nights.
The main bedroom is located off the living room and features a queen size bed with pillow-top mattress cover. The second bedroom, located off the kitchen, has a unique bunk bed, with a full size bed on the bottom and a twin bed on top.
Don't feel like sampling the wares at any of Idaho Springs' fine eateries? You're in luck, because the modern updated kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and a full set of pots, pans, dishes and silverware. There's also a brand new gas grill in the backyard.
The bathroom is indoors (none of that corncob nonsense on your vacation!), with a full size washer/dryer, toilet, full bath/shower, soap, towels, hair dryer and assorted toiletries. It's also been updated with a new sink and toilet, and we lowered the floor eight inches back to its original height.
For your entertaining pleasure, the cottage has a 35-inch color TV, basic cable, DVD/VHS player, games, books and movies. There's also a fenced back yard with a new deck and patio set.
The Miner Cottage is SMOKE-FREE, but also DOG FRIENDLY. Best of all, it's AFFORDABLE, with rates starting at just $95/night, with a $75 cleaning fee and $200 refundable deposit.

I would highly recommend this cottage. It was clean, well stocked and ver comfortable. We travel with two dogs and it worked out great for us. There is also a small fenced in backyard that we were able to let our dogs out in while we took advantage of the gas grill. The location was fantastic. There are lots of dog friendly hiking trails close to the cabin that we would hike on during the day and then we could walk to town in the evening if we wanted to go out to dinner. There are 5 or 6 restaurants just two to three blocks away and a grocery store 1 mile away. We will definitely go back.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

I could not have imagined on first reserving the Miner Cottage how much we would enjoy our stay here. What a beautiful home and much-needed escape for us (and the pups) this turned out to be. Can you ask for me than fresh snow, a growler from Tommyknockers, a warm fire and Scrabble? Thank you so much and we hope to visit again soon!Did you find this review helpful? I recently stayed in the cottage and took my dogs. Pictures of the cottage on line are exactly how I found it. Clean, Cozy and Comfortable. Snacks and Welcome Package topped it off. It's an easy commute from Denver and the town and the Indian Springs Resort offer a great place to just relax and enjoy the mountain air. We will definitely be back as my dogs loved staying there!!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

A friend of mine and I wanted to do some fall trout fishing. We found this cabin on the VRBO web site. It was perfect. As you can see from the pictures, it is not overly fancy, but the cabin was neat, clean, well furnished, and well, just down right comfortable! The kitchen had all the amenities one could hope for, and then some! They had a new gas grill, which we enjoyed using. (Fresh Trout on a grill is fantastic!) The basket of goodies on the kitchen table welcoming us, was a nice suprise, as well as extra toiletries in the bathroom. The location was perfect, in that it was an easy walk downtown, while being located in a more quiet residental section. The owner was extremely helpful and willing to be flexible with our travel plans. There are lots of good eating places. Tommyknockers was our favorite for lunch and dinner------although we really didn't eat out much because the fishing was so good----Also, the Main Street Cafe(I think that was the name) was a great breakfast place. The Phoenix Gold Mine Tour was also fun and would recommend that for an afternoon activity. If one is into scenery and a bit of excitment, the road trip on "Oh My Gawd Road" to Central City is a blast. We are already planning our next trip to Idaho Springs and our stay at this cabin. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting a nice, simple, clean, comfortable place to stay while in Idaho Springs. In my opinion, you couldn't go wrong.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Great place to stay. Anything you want to do in Idaho Springs is walking distance, and a fairly short drive to lots of other activities. The cottage is comfortable and anything that you need is provided. The patio is great, and the grill is perfect for steaks or for burgers. And most of all it is affordable, without giving up comfort and quality. The owners were responsive to all of my questions, and good to work with. I recommend this place to all.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

We stayed at this cottage for the weekend and it far exceeded our expectations for the cost. It is very roomy yet very cozy. It is within walking distance of the action in town. We had a great time taking strolls to downtown Idaho Springs to shop and eat. The food up here in this town is to die for! The owners are very nice and they were great hosts. They even left a welcome basket full of goodies and my husband had forgot his toothbrush and they even had one of these in the basket with the treats- incase anyone forgot theirs! Another thing to note is that the area the house is in is quiet. I will definately be back:) A+++ My dog even had a great time:)Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

About the owner: We both grew up in the midwest (Ohio and Indiana), but always knew we wanted to live in the mountains. After nine years in Colorado Springs, we moved to Denver, and a few months later bough the Miner Cottage. We're huge dog lovers, and we always had a hard time finding places we could take our dogs on vacation with us. That's why we tried to make our vacation home as dog-friendly as possible, with furniture they can play on and a little yard that's great for them to poop on.
Why the Owner Chose Idaho Springs:
We love Colorado, and we love the outdoors, but we all also love the trappings of civilization. You get both at the Miner Cottage: you're right in town, but you're also only a couple minutes away from the Great Outdoors. Being a couple blocks walk from a yummy brewpub is also a huge plus. The chance to bring a 120-year-old house back to life was an interesting challenge as well.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
You can't beat the location. Two-blocks from historic downtown Idaho Springs, and a couple minutes from I-70, means you're close to everything. And it's dog-friendly, which makes every vacation more fun.
