Lake Leelanau house description
This beautiful family owned 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom vacation home has many premium features and is available year round on beautiful Lake Leelanau. This area of Michigan is known for its cherry orchards, wineries, and beauty, having been named by National Geographic as one of the best summer trips of 2012 and by Good Morning America as “the most beautiful place in America.”
The house sleeps eight and is suited for people of all ages and may be used by a couple looking to get away from it all, or a family looking for a prime lake location suitable for swimming, boating, and other outdoor activities. The house is located approximately 100 feet from the lake and offers 100 feet of private lake frontage. Pine trees on either side provide privacy from the neighbors.
Both levels of the front of the house have floor to ceiling windows throughout, offering beautiful views of sunrises over the lake from the 3 bedrooms.
The upper (walk-in) level has an open-style to allow multiple views of the lake from every room and easy socializing. This level includes a full bath, bedroom (queen bed), living room with field stone gas fireplace, dining area that seats six, and kitchen with full length bar that seats four. There is a large deck with patio furniture that allows you to enjoy a nice meal outdoors or relaxing moments while watching the kids play in the large grass yard or water.
A circular staircase takes you down to the lower (walk-out) level. Here you will find a master bedroom suite with queen bed and full bath with Jacuzzi tub, a second bedroom with two twin beds and a bunk bed. The twin beds can be put together to make larger king bed. There is also a family room, office area, storage/laundry room, and another full bath. Walk out onto a patio with gas grill and patio furniture for additional seating / area to eat.
Lake Leelanau is a 20+ mile-long all-sports lake that offers great swimming, boating, water skiing, and fishing. The lake depth at shore is shallow about 15 inches deep with a firm, sandy bottom and allows great swimming for kids - the lake depth gets about waist deep at the end of our 72-foot private dock. You can take your boat right across the lake or to the towns of Lake Leelanau, Leland, or Cedar for excellent dining, sight-seeing or shopping. Gas service for your boat is available at several locations on the lake. If you bring your own boat it can be tied to the dock. There are public boat launches approximately 2 miles north and south of the property.
The waterfront home is in a prime and central location. You are within minutes of Lake Michigan, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, Shopping at Glen Arbor, historic fishtown of Leland, Lake Leelanau, Suttons Bay, Northport, and Traverse City. Golf is nearby at Leelanau Club, Sleeping Bear Golf or Kings Challenge Golf Course. Two Casinos - Leelanau Sands Casino in Suttons Bay and Turtle Creek Casino in Williamsburg. You can also enjoy world-class concerts at the Interlochen Arts Academy which is a 30 minute drive. Many sightseeing opportunities throughout the entire county, many local wineries and restaurants available are also within a short distance.

We had a great time during our vacation. There were 4 adults and 4 children and we did not feel like we were stepping on each other. The home was very clean. The other family we went with loves to cook. They commented on the nice knife set and pots & pans. Very nice quality which is nice to see in a rental. All the mattresses were very comfortable as well so everyone slept great! The surrounding area is a ton of fun! We visited Leland (Fishtown), Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, Lighthouse Point, and a couple of wineries. There is plenty to do! I personally loved the lake! We were told by a local that the bottom of the lake is comprised of sand and stone. You could tell because the water was so clean and the area for swimming in front of the cottage is all sand...it's not mucky at all! There is a nice dock so the kids had fun swimming off it and fishing. We also rented a boat for 2 days and went through the narrows to the other side of the lake. The lake is 21 miles long so there is lots to explore. Gorgeous! Highly recommend it.

Our family enjoyed our Labor Day weekend stay at this home. The property was very clean, spacious and had all the amenities that we could have hoped for. There are several wineries within a 10-mile radius of the home, as well as fresh fruit/vegetable stands, a golf course and the casino. We would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a well-kept home in the Lake Leelanau area. If ever our travels bring us back to this area, we will definitely look into renting here again!

Peace and Serenity
Peace and Serenity
Our family which consisted of a set of Grand parents, two adult children, their spouses and three grandchildren all under the age of one stayed in this spotlessly clean, well maintained home. (Set of six month old twins and an 11 month old toddler.) The photos accurately reflect the rental's appearance and amenities. The kitchen is stocked with every gadget, dishes etc. one could possibly need. I will say it again: for all you germ-a-phobes, the house was SPOTLESS. What made this property perfect for all of us is that we all slept well. The bed rooms are large and seemingly sound proof. My husband and I were not awakend by what our adult kids described as morning bedlam with busy loud grand babies. It was a luxury for each family unit to have a their own bathroom. We created wonderful memories by simply being together--on the back deck or on the front porch. It seemed that is where we gathered the most. We didn't stray far or often from the house itself because of the ages of the grandchildren and the serenity of the surroundings. One of the neighbors referred us to a beach called North Bar beach in nearby Empire. It was wonderful. Martha's Restaurant in Suttons Bay is a gem. Noreen and her extended family are inspirational to work with. There is no other way to describe them. They were in and of themselves a blessing to our family. Perhaps one day we can return to this lovey home again.

Great family vacation rental!
Great family vacation rental!
My husband and I rented this house with another couple. We each have 2 children ages 11 and 9. It was a wonderful location and the house was extremely clean. All of the basic amenities were included. We rented a boat that was able to be docked right on the property. Needless to say we had a wonderful time! Noreen was great to work with and responded to any questions I had in a timely matter. We will definitely consider renting this home for future vacations! Lots of wonderful memories were made!

perfect house on the Lake
perfect house on the Lake
We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, a better location or nicer homeowners to deal with for our short weekend trip to Lake Leelanau for a close family friend's wedding. Pictures of the home are perfect representations of the space. The house was spotless and provided us with everything we needed for our short weekend stay. Communications with the homeowner was easy and comfortable and return of deposit was prompt. She advised us on great places to stop in Traverse City as we were waiting for others to arrive at the airport and needed things to do prior to their arrival. The heated floors in the bathroom were a fabulous bonus! If and when I am back in the area I will definitely look to return here...it was perfect!

Great house for any occasion
Great house for any occasion
We decided on this house to stay for a weekend wine tour on the peninsula in the beginning of September. It was a last minute booking and the owner was very friendly and accommodating to our needs. We arrived late in the evening on a Friday. The house is located very close to Suttons Bay and downtown Lake Leelanau. The house is very spacious, although we only had 5 adults, it could comfortably accommodate more. The house is very cleaned and appeared to be well maintained. My husband and I slept in the master in the basement that has a large jetted tub and a separate shower. It was a colder evening so I was much impressed by the heated floors on the lower level. The back wall of the bedroom was primarily windows which looked out to the lake. The description and pictures are exactly as is. The beds are firm which my husband and I didn't mind but it was a bit more than my sister liked. I had more of a problem with my pillow, which to bring your own is not much of an inconvenience. There were plenty of towels, and with 3 full bathrooms, never a wait to shower or use the bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked for any type of cooking. There was fire wood there for our use and we enjoyed both nights by the water with a warm crackling fire. The back of the house faces to the East so we enjoyed the sunrise each morning out the large windows. The house is suitable for any season but would be especially cozy during the winter with all that sun pouring in. One of our friends who stayed with us commented on how well built the house is because he noticed that not a crack or squeak is heard as we walk on the upper level of this house (nice for those sleeping on the lower level). I had to agree, very solid! Another thing that we appreciated is that the owner invited us to use the washing machine if we needed which came in handy after a muddy Harvest Stompede (7 mile trail run). I was also pleased with how quickly the deposit was returned to us. The owner was prompt with all communication!! We would definitely return to this house. We have 4 young children and would consider a trip up there with them too, although the wine tasting is much more enjoyable without them!!
