"The house is perfect. Cozy beds for 12 people, a fireplace for the cool evenings, the channel to Lake Leelanau behind the house, open kitchen, fully furnished with top notch furnishings and CLEAN! The house is almost split in half as far as sleeping areas which works great if you have late night people and light sleepers that like to go to bed early.

Melissa Smith purchased this house in 2003
We love the pristine waters of Lake Leelanau, and love skiing in the south lake, or heading through the picturesque Narrows up to the North lake and right to the town of Leland!
With water views, a dock to lay on, a large yard with plenty of room for the kids, a relaxing front porch, plus plenty of bedrooms spread out for privacy, and a Media room. This home is luxurious living on the lake.
Our large group stayed here for the Toast the Season Wine weekend. Perfect location in the midst of the wineries. We had a shuttle service for the day and the wineries were all so beautiful. Perfect weather for a November weekend - couldn't ask for much better.
The house was walking distance to Lake Leelenau for amazing breakfast options at the Leelenau Pie and Pastry shop along with the rest of downtown. Was perfect for our extended stay at the Northern Latitudes Distillery and late night pizza from Dick's Pour House.
House has all the needed amenities with a nice fire pit out front and great access to the lakes. Overall perfect pick for the weekend. I would only recommend a more reasonable check out time of 11am. Although we negotiated that, the cleaners were there an hour early and we rushed to get everyone out the door.
The home was everything we hoped for! Very clean, nicely decorated, well stocked kitchen, great towels, and the beds were comfortable! The owner was so helpful, from questions before we left to questions we had while we were there. Her response time was awesome. The view is very pretty! We spent some time sitting on the dock. Very peaceful. There is a boat launch next door, but we never heard the people putting their boats in. Close to wineries and minutes from the store. We definitely recommend this house!
Our family had a beautiful week at the White Birch Cottage. We brought some cousins from out of state that had never seen the Great Lakes and they were impressed with everything from the natural beauty to the clean comfortable very well stocked house. Although we have been coming to the area for 30 years, Melissa suggested some spots we had never seen.We also brought my mother who is in her 80s and has some difficulty walking. The house was comfortable for her and she enjoyed herself as well. This was the 2nd time we have rented this house and we will do it again
Our family which consisted of 6 adults and 4 children just spent a week at the White Birch cottage. Everything from my first inquiry with Melissa to our checkout couldn't have been better. Melissa provided us with dinning, winery, tours, beach and restaurant recommendations which were all excellent. The cottage was immaculate and stocked with everything an adult or kid could want. Great yard for games. The coffee shop, winery, distillery, restaurants all within walking distance. The lake is perfect for all water sports. A perfect place. We are looking forward to the next time.
This house was perfect. Our group consisted of different families and everyone seemed to have their space when needed but when we wanted to be together as a group it was large enough to accommodate all of us. We spent the week before the wedding relaxing and enjoying the area of Leland and Suttons Bay. You will find the porch the perfect place for evening meals and BBQ's. The dock worked well for the two fishing boats and with the boat ramp right next door not a lot of time was needed to pack up on the day before departing. The property has a large parking area that also made it easy to park the boat trailers still leaving plenty of room for parking cars. We really enjoyed the open kitchen living room area. I can't say enough on how perfect this house was for our vacation. The house was perfectly located from Black Star Farms where our Son's wedding was, about a 15 minute drive.
The White Birch Cottage was an amazing place to stay. The house was extremely clean, decorated perfectly each room. Location was within walking distance to everything you would need, from the local bar/grocery store/beauty shop to a nice little restaurant. This house is a beauty!
The landlord amazing as she kept you up on all of the activities in the area, called to make sure everything was ok with the house.
