My family rented the Bald Eagle Cottage while attending a wedding at the Fall Creek Winery. It was perfect. It's nicely furnished, and less than 1/4 mile from the winery. It's perfect if you're visiting the winery or just getting away from it all for a weekend. My wife left two heirloom shawls, and the owner saved them and my wife's day. Highly recommended!

The Bald Eagle Cottage is so charming, immaculate and located in the best part of Lake Buchanan, Texas. Lovely view, and loved the porch swing along with the enormous deck. The Taecker's are so easy to deal with in renting this cottage. Even though the lake is low due to the drought this cottage is located on the upper river so you have a water view all the time. Also loved the wood stove ~ keeps everything so cozy. Can ya tell....we loved it.:)

We stayed at Bald Eagle Cottage for a week in April. The cottage has a charming lighthouse theme and has all the amenities needed for a couple or a family trying to get away. This area is back road ranch country and as residents of Wisconsin, it was an excellent way to see this part of Texas. Although Lake Buchanan is unusually low, the area is quiet and provides nature at its' best, we saw many birds. The clear skies at night offer a spectacular view of the stars and constellations. There is a wonderful winery just a short walk from the cottage. It is easy travel to interesting small Texas towns and 1 1/2 hours to see the sites in Austin. Thanks to Kevin and Lyn for sharing their cottage with us.

The Bald Eagle Cottage was the perfect place to spend our weekend while we were enjoying viewing God's masterpiece of wildflowers. The bluebonnets and supporting cast were simply stunning !! We had 5 in our group (2 adults/3children) and the teenagers are already asking when we can go back ! The beds were very comfortable and you felt right at home when you walked in the door. Our little white dog loved the fact that she got to go with us on this outing !! Looking forward to returning to BALD EAGLE COTTAGE !

Hi Lyn. I've been back from your wonderful lake house for three days and I'm just now getting my head above water at work (I'm a bookkeeper - no one does my job if I'm not here!). So I finally have a chance to tell you what a wonderful time we had at Tow. The "lake" was a river which was just fine with me because I prefer the river over a lake anytime (none of those noisy boats spoiling the serenity). My kids all came and went during the week, and they LOVED it. One of my sons is a musician/songwriter and he told me he didn't know what it was about the place, but he had written three songs Tuesday night. I'll let you know if any of them become big hits! :) Your cottage is lovely - you just never know what you'll get when you book online, so my expectations are always very low. What a wonderful surprise your fully-furnished-with-any-little-thing-we-could-need house was! It is lovely - I really love the lay-out. The beds were all incredibly comfortable. The house was cool and clean which are my only true needs for a summer rental. We enjoyed the dog next door and the racoons & armadillos at night. By the end of the week I knew which birds flew where at different times of the day. I submerged myself in books on the deck and didn't go inside until dark. You are truly fortunate to have such a wonderful place, and you are very generous (and brave!) to share it with others. Thank you for a wonderful week! ~Melodi Jackson

For those considering this property, we had a wonderful time .... We arrived at the cottage at about 7:30 Friday evening. It was relatively cool (high 70’s) so we sat outside on the wonderful deck and enjoyed the night air. On Saturday, we went drove around a bit to check out our options and ended up getting pizza at the gas station in Bluffton (intersection of 261 and 29) and took it back to Cedar Point park (I hope I got the name right). After eating our pizza, we took the dogs down to the boat ramp area which was rather low but great for the purpose of letting the pups take a dip. After a couple of hours playing in the lake with the pups, we stopped at Fall Creek winery (a place we will definitely visit again) to have a glass of wine on the patio. The proprietors allowed the dogs to sit out there with us. This was wonderful until they discovered the premises cat!!!! We did a tasting and bought some trinkets and a couple of bottles wine (a cab and a sauvignon blanc, to be precise). I'd suggest the cab to you red wine lovers out there. For dinner we decided to eat in - We loved the charcoal grill. Cooked some chicken and corn on the cob .. of course it always tastes better away from home! ?During our stay we learned that the previous renters were able to walk all the way to the falls on the north west side of the lake …. So .... after breakfast on Sunday, we made our way down the lake bed to the falls. Outside of an uncomfortable encounter with a curious cow, it was a great walk. For those of you daring the trek to the falls, just keep in mind that it is in ranch country and there are livestock wandering around. In the end, it was worth the trip. We were really excited to get to see the falls, as normally, you'd have to get there by boat (which would have been difficult for us, seeing as though we don't own one). We not only were able to take our morning walk for exercise but we were able to see some beautiful scenery. We left the cottage at around 11:00 on Sunday morning and went to Kingsland to “The Slab” on the Llano river. (Take 1431 East to 3404. Make a right on 3404). We spent about an hour wading around and letting the dogs take a dip .. It was wonderful. We certainly hope to return next year and we really appreciate the use of your cottage. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay – you have a great place in a great area!
Owner response:It is not possible to walk to the falls because that land belongs to the ranch, so it would be trespassing. And you wondered why all those cattle are out there with their very own fence!!

We just got home and boy did we have a ball! The cabin was wonderful. The kids had such a blast playing inside, outside, on the dock, everywhere. We are convinced we need to start looking for some property on the lake. We also got to meet your brother-in-law; what a doll. Thank you again for a great weekend! Samantha

We had a blast at Bald Eagle Cottage! Thanks for the use of your house. We had a great time. I've included some photos. We also left a small CD player for the house. The renters for next weekend stopped by and asked about the cottage. We raved about it to them. I hope they have as much fun as we did.
