Why the Owner Chose Blue Ridge
We bought our cabin as a retirement home, but wanted to be able to rent it some to off-set the expense until we retired. We fell in love with the mountains and peace and relaxation the area is known for. We were lucky enough to find this perfect cabin where it is in a community, but still allows for complete privacy. Our cabin with each bedroom having it's own bath and TV, two separate living areas, and over 2800sf of space, allows for privacy even when you have the house full. It's great for get-aways for 2-8 people.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Our cabin is close to the Ocoee River - and we love paddling! For the less adventuresome it's also less than an hour from the Nantahala and only 15 minutes to Lake Blue Ridge. Hiking, waterfalls, whitewater, etc. are all right here. We also love to go to the Swan Drive-in for new movies in an historic setting. There are great restaurants, shopping, and the people are just so nice. And if you're into art, Blue Ridge has become a semi- "Taos". Lots of beautiful finds from local artists.

What a lovely, comfortable house! Everything about it was just right. We particularly enjoyed the screened porch and ate most of our meals out there. And how nice to have a hot tub with a view! The owner was very helpful and easy to work with. We definitely plan to be repeat renters.

Mountain High is a great place to stay. We visited in Jan. 2011 with our Golden Retriever. We all had a wonderful time. The house is very clean and really does have a wonderful wood aroma inside. It is well stocked and has a good layout. Each of the three bedrooms has its own private bathroom. The house is furnished nice and comfy. The king bed in the master was exceptionally comfortable, being the best night's sleep we've ever had away from home. The electric fireplace in the living room (while not having the ambience of a gas or wood fire) still really helps warm up the room quickly after coming in from hiking on a chilly day. The house is just as represented in the photos. We had never been to North Georgia before, but glad we chose to stay in the Blue Ridge area, as it is less commercial and feels much more quaint than some of the other nearby towns. Blue ridge is more dog friendly as well with many of the shops putting out water bowls, and dogs being welcome at many of the eateries with outdoor seating. Nice little park right in town also. Most important of all, you will not find a nicer person to rent from than Rhonda, the owner. She was happy to answer the many questions we had about the area, and sent us countless web links on local activities, restaurants, hiking trails, and wineries as well as personal suggestions. So Thank you again Rhonda, for being dog friendly so that our Golden could join us, and being so helpful in seeing to it that we had a great trip!

We rented Mountain High for three days before Thanksgiving in 2010. The pictures of the cabin are exactly what you get. The view is wonderful, and I understand you can see two states from the balcony. The cabin is nice and cozy. The kitchen, dining area, and family room are all part of the same vaulted space, so you can spend quality time with family while relaxing after a day of hiking or visiting the small towns in the area. Some cabins with basement bedrooms go "cheapie" and install "drop" ceilings (ceiling tiles), but the owners of Mountain High went the extra effort to put a real ceiling in the downstairs bedroom and bath and downstairs family room so you wouldn't feel like you were sleeping in a basement. The game room is the only part of the basement that does not have a "real" ceiling, but the owners left the joists exposed and painted the ceiling black. It's a game room, so it works. My kids loved the pool table and the video games. There's a alien shoot-em-up game and a multi-cade game with lost of arcade classics. Each of the three bedrooms has its own bath, and two of the bedrooms feature king beds, so it really is like having three master suites. Plus, there's a day bed and trundle bed in the downstairs family room, so you can easily sleep 8 people in the home. The furnishings were comfortable and pleasant, and we could see no signs of wear and tear although the cabin is at least five years old. It doesn't show its age, and the only way we knew it was that old was by reading the comments other guests wrote in the guestbook ;-). The hot tub works wonderfully, and you can set the exact temperature you want digitally. My boys loved to go swimming in the hot tub! There's a nice screened porch off of the family room, and it's even screened on the underside of the deck so no bugs will get in. Although we weren't there when bugs might be an issue, a screened porch is a must in Georgia in the summer. It makes it easy to enjoy our beautiful spring, summer, and fall evenings! The cabin's neighborhood is really large too. I went running one day, and I was able to get a full 60 minute run in by running all the way to the top, down each side road, and then back to the cabin. It's a great hill workout! Also, on a clear night with no moon, get ready for some serious star gazing! The owners are great. They followed up with several e-mails to see what info we needed and provided reviews of area restaurants and attractions.

Brought my son and his family here for a long weekend before his deployment at the end of the month. We wanted a nice, relaxing family time together and this cabin was perfect. Plenty of room for us to spread out, yet was cozy also. The pictures here really do not do the place justice and it still smells brand new (love the wood smell!) We spent a lot of time on the screened porch rocking and enjoying the view. I have a photo of the view that looks exactly like the photo here, but again, it's much more magnificient in person. My son and daughter-in-law loved the arcade games. There was a great selection of movies to watch, books, board games, hot tub, pool table...we never had a lack of things to do. We cooked in most meals and the kitchen was well stocked. Initial supply of paper products and garbage bags, etc was supplied. The drive up was easy, not steep roads at all, paved and well kept. There were cabins around ours but well spaced and with the tress, you couldn't see them so we had plenty of privacy. Rhonda was wonderful to work with. She accommodated us at the last minute (I initially contacted her less than 48 hours before we wanted to leave!), she answered my many questions, and even contacted me about items left behind. I cannot say enough great things about this cabin and the wonderful time we had. Thanks, Rhonda and we will visit again soon!
