  • Perfect

"Our family of 4 arrived at the apt.and we were greeted by lovely Karina. Karina gave us the grand tour of this perfect apt.-it was attractive, comfortable, clean, perfectly located. Karina ,then patiently provided us with maps ,directions to markets ,restaurants - everything that we needed. She also kindly gave us her email address and urged us to email her with any requests for assistance or further information. The apt.was perfectly located and most sites were an easy walk. The markets ,restaurants ,bakeries were also in the neighborhood . On my return to Rome, I will definitely stay in this apt.again. Thank you to Fabri for sharing this apt. Thank you also to Karina for being so gracious."

  • Perfect Apartment for Your Roman Holiday

"My family of six (me, my husband, and 4 kids ages 18, 15, 13 & 11) stayed in this beautiful apartment in early June 2014. It was absolutely perfect. We are big fans of using Homeaway for all of our vacations and this apartment was one of our best experiences. Paolo is an outstanding host. He has thought of everything to make his renters feel totally comfortable and at home. The apartment is clean, spacious, nicely decorated, quiet and had everything we needed. Upon our arrival he gave us a complete tour of the apartment. He had a folder with tons of information about the apartment and the area that we could refer to. It listed nearby restaurants, groceries and lots of information about things to see and do in Rome. He had a map of Rome for us to use for our trip and took the time to circle things on it and make recommendations, etc. He clearly loves his city & answered all of our questions. The kitchen is well equipped (including dishwasher & washing machine) and we cooked dinner several times. We loved that we could control the AC in each room. There are Satellite TVs in each bedroom and living room, including English language channels. The wifi was convenient. The elevator was a treat for the kids. The apartment is easy walking distance to the Metra and Colosseum and many other sites. We always felt safe in and around the building and area. It is walking distance to many restaurants and gelato places (kids loved that) and the grocery. There is an Italian bakery a couple doors down too (yum!). When it was time for us to go, Paolo arranged for a driver to pick us up and bring us to the airport. He made it so easy for us. You are the best Paolo! We would stay here again and we will recommend this apartment to friends & family!"

  • Exceptional Experience

"This apartment was perfect! The location was footsteps from everything we wanted to see, yet quiet at night for a good nights sleep. Lot's of restaurants and shopping around every corner as well. The space was clean and more than enough for our group of four. We felt right at home immediately. I would highly recommend this rental. It was our favorite stay during our 2 week trip throughout Italy!"

  • Position, position, position.

"My friend and I recently stayed for 5 nights in this apartment.....Great position for the Trevi and lots of sites, the restaurants surrounding us were terrific. Mr Pong was very helpful on arrival with fruit basket & bottle of wine and Tony had been so helpful re transport and tickets.......which I really appreciated. The kitchen and lounge were terrific..great heating and high ceilings. Beds are hard and one bathroom has just been renovated and nice (shower curtain needed here) but the other one substandard with mould, but could be about to be renovated. I would definitely want to stay here again for the restaurants and facilities."

Latium (Lazio) Travel Tips

Stay in Style at Lazio, Italy Vacation Rentals

The region of Lazio, also known as Latium, is about halfway down the western side of the “boot” of Italy and includes the capital city of Rome. Inhabited long before the Romans arrived, the area has a long and fascinating history. It was part of the Papal States governed by the Vatican until the 1860s and not a particularly wealthy area at that time. Now a key area for the production of wine, agriculture, manufacturing and textiles, the area is currently flourishing. The city of Rome is at the heart of the region, with all its historic sights and attractions.

Lazio, Italy Vacation Rentals are Perfect for Family Vacations

Renting a vacation rental in the Lazio region is the best way to experience the unique culture of this charming area. From your own home-away-from-home base, you can explore the area at your own pace; go shopping at the local market and dine in the trattorias. A vacation villa makes the perfect base to return to at the end of a busy day sightseeing in Rome. You can be assured of a comfortable bed and a homely living area for relaxing each evening. Vacation villas are spacious and well-equipped to a high standard, despite their sometimes historic exterior. Outdoor living is part of the pleasure of staying in Lazio. Most vacation villas have paved terraces and gardens from which to enjoy views of the surrounding area.

Things to do in Rome from Lazio, Italy Accommodations

Lazio is well known for its arts, history, architecture, churches, archaeology and cultural inheritance. The eternal city of Rome has something for everyone including the Vatican City with St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and the extensive Vatican Museums. The sights of the ancient city include the Forum, Palatine Hill, the Coliseum and Nero’s Palace. The Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the many churches are delightful places to wander around and discover for yourself. Designer shopping and small boutiques line the streets along with many cafés and restaurants. Those who appreciate fine art and architecture will be overwhelmed by all this city has to offer.

Traveling Around Lazio, Italy Villas

The main airport is Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) International Airport which is approximately 30 km (20 miles) southwest of Rome. Ciampino Airport is smaller and closer to the city center, just 15 km (10 miles) southeast of the city. It is popular with discount airlines such as Ryan Air which offers flights to many major European cities.

Places to Visit From Lazio

The area of Ostia Antica is an ancient city about 20 minutes from Rome. Here you can see the amphitheater, public buildings, cafés, firemen’s barracks and the local synagogue. Ostia Antica is a great alternative to the busier city of Pompeii.

A 90-minute drive into the mountains will reward visitors with snow-capped mountains and beautiful vistas. The area is home to more than a dozen 13th-century monasteries, attributed to St. Francis. Day trips to the lakes at Bracciano, Bosena and Nemi are perfect antidotes to the crowds of Rome. South of Lazio, there are a number of beautiful beaches along the coast offering wide sandy beaches and safe swimming.

Lazio’s Climate and Weather

Lazio enjoys a perfect Mediterranean maritime climate. It benefits from the fresh sea breezes during the hot summer months; the winter months are mild and sunny. The mountains are the perfect escape from the heat during July and August. However, a visit to Rome can be enjoyed at any time of year as there is so much to see and do indoors; for additional tourist information, travel tips and attractions visit Lazio travel guide on iGuide.
