  • Fabulous home on quiet estuary

"We just came back from a three night stay in this beautiful home. I wish we could have stayed much longer. The home itself is very roomy, immaculate, and beautifully decorated. It had everything we could have wished for including binoculars to watch the wildlife. That brings me to the views - WOW! The house is on the estuary, so don't expect rolling waves or a sandy swimming beach. What you get instead, are constantly changing views and lots of wildlife. Besides innumerable birds, we watched an otter swim by and a group of seals nap on a sandbar until the tide moved them along. Every evening, we stood on the deck and picked out constellations. The entire back of the house has large windows so you have great views from most rooms. The furnishings are very high end. We used the fireplace in the living room every evening. There's even one in the master bedroom! The house was extremely quiet and private. It is in a nice neighborhood which we enjoyed exploring on foot. We were a group of three adults celebrating a birthday. We spent one day at the Hearst Castle and then stopped at Piedras Blancas to see the elephant seals. Another day we toured Paso Robles vineyards. We drove through Montana de Oro State Park and were very sorry we didn't have another whole day to spend there. We would highly recommend all of these activities besides trips to Morro Bay and Cambria. This house is conveniently located for all of these and so many more activities. We hope to return again, but next time will stay longer!"

  • A real gem

"We truly enjoyed staying here. Being able to see the ocean and Morro Rock at all times was delightful and relaxing. There was plenty of space for 6 adults to be comfortable, and it was really nice not having to bring sheets and towels. Everything we needed was available in the house. We would definitely rent again, as would our friends."

  • great place

"We stayed there for 2+ weeks and it was very nice. The Austins are really nice people and helped us a lot. The cottage is 2miles from the rock, 1 mile from downtown and about 1/2 mile from the golf course. Great places to eat in the area."

  • Perfect setup

"We came to visit Cal Poly over spring break -- 3 adults (from 2 different families), 3 16yo girls (1 from each of the 2 families and another from a 3rd family), a 14yo boy (sibling of 1st family) and 2 12yo girls (sibling of 2nd 16yo and her friend from a 4th family). People said "6 kids from 4 families? And you call that BREAK?" But we had the best time because of The Cottages, where there was plenty of room for everybody to be together or apart. The location is ideal for people of any age or interests -- walking to things (coffee, restaurants, yoga, shops, beach) or short drives (hiking, mountain biking, farmers market in SLO, Cal Poly). The Cottages are clean, comfortable and adorable, each with its own personality. Ian was completely responsive to all of our needs. We will be back (even if nobody chooses Cal Poly)."
