Vacationing in Shadow Mountain Ski Condos
When you and your family head to Aspen, you probably don't want anything to get between you and some of the world's best skiing and snowboarding. Some Shadow Mountain lodging offers ski-in/ski-out mountain access. Even better, many Shadow Mountain ski condos have amenities you probably won't find in hotels. Cook a few meals on the stove to save money, or store your groceries in the fridge. And, your family will have more room to spread out, which will most likely make for a more peaceful vacation. So, here are a few ideas for exploring Aspen when you're not hitting the slopes.
Interesting Aspen Restaurants
Many Aspen vacation rentals are close to great restaurants. If you are a vegetarian, there's a romantic place on East Main St. called the Pyramid Bistro. The restaurant has lots of vegetarian offerings, like a brown rice stir-fry flavored with coconut and green chilies. For non-veggies, there is some seafood on the menu. For dessert, the restaurant offers treats like vegan carrot cake, banana bread, and chocolate pudding. If you're in the mood for sushi, there's a great place just down the street called Matsuhisa, with pricey but excellent Japanese food. Try the rock crab tacos!
Eclectic Aspen Shopping
There is so much great shopping in Aspen close to Shadow Mountain lodging that it only makes sense to reserve a day to browse the boutiques. There is a fabulous bookstore on East Main, near Shadow Mountain ski condos called Explore Booksellers, which is the perfect place to pick up some fireside reading material. There's even a coffee bar and a reading room. If you need ski or mountaineering equipment, check out Ute Mountaineer on South Mill St. They have an amazingly diverse selection of equipment and clothing, and though the prices are high, they are fair, since the brands are high-end.
