  • Excellent cottage, beautiful spot

"We stayed for a week at the end of August, our 3rd time coming here. The cottage is sweet, well maintained, very clean, pretty much as depicted. The little screen porch in the front is especially pleasant in the mornings and evenings. Cottage feels bright and open despite modest size. The beach area is gorgeous, very shallow, which helps with the water temps, which vary with wind. No getting around that it is Lake Superior (cold) but kids seem unphased. There is a beautiful wetlands behind the beac road which you can access by kayak from down the beacH (and see from the window). Nice mountain biking nearby in Calumet; nice road biking once you are off the gravel access roads. Access to food coop in Hancock, but other grocery store in nearby Hubble. Very nice walking beach all along Little Traverse Bay. Owner is very friendly and helpful about the area."

  • perfect

"This was my first time renting any cottage and this was a great experience. The cottage was perfect for my husband & I and our 2 kids under 2. We the cottage was nice, clean, and updated, and a great location. We walked everywhere, town, beach, and campground. Thank you for the great stay and memories we were able to make. Look forward to returning again."

  • Just what we needed.

"Design and location made this the perfect get-away spot for us. Bedrooms & bath at both ends of the house gave us each a little retreat. The private cove, shallow water, rowboat, and sandy beach allowed our urban grandkids to muck around in nature, and they loved the "perfect for s'mores" fire pit. The kitchen was pretty well equipped, and the whole house very clean. We appreciated the No Smoking policy, as the kids and I are very sensitive to cigarette smoke odors. Town was near enough for grocery runs and central to many attractions. Finally, the owners were very responsive to our needs. In the middle of our first load of laundry, we realized the dryer had broken. Not wanting to waste vacation time at the laundromat, we called the owners. They called their local maintenance man who came in and fixed it that day. I highly recommend this rental. (If you're from out of state, as we were, be aware that cell phone reception is spotty here and in many areas of the UP. Texting worked better than calling.)"

  • "We just had a wonderful 4 day stay at La Casita! The home is absolutely lovely and in a beautiful, serene setting. There was plenty of room for us and our 3 children to spread out and relax. We made pizza in the baker's oven with the homemade pizza kit provided, and it turned out great. It was so nice to sit out on the porch and relax each morning and evening. There were a lot of mosquitos, but we used bug spray, an Off fan and Off coils and didn't have a problem getting bit at all. We also enjoyed the fire pit at the lake and had a wonderful time making smores and listening to our voices echo acroos the lake. The lake is private, so we never saw anyone else down there. It is a little bit of a hike down there, and you will get winded coming back up, but we needed the exercise after all those smores. We loved having internet access, and it worked well. The Satellite TV did not work while we were there, but we didn't mind, other than my husband who wanted to watch the Tour de France. We mostly watched videos in the wonderful TV area in the basement at night after a day of exploring. Our cell phone service was spotty, but did work in certain areas. We enjoyed being so close to the Pictured Rocks area, and had fun exploring all the waterfalls and beaches there. We took the Pitcured Rock Boat Cruise, and it was a highlight of our trip. La Casita was a wonderful home, and we hated to leave!"
