"This was our second stay at the cabin, and it was just as peaceful and relaxing as the first time. It had everything you could possibly need to cook with. We made dinner a few nights, but we dined out a lot, trying all the awesome restaurants in the area. You have to try the beans from Rib Country. My husband is working on his masters degree, so we loved that the cabin had WiFi. We have little ones, and the gem mining is always a blast. We found several waterfalls during our stay. Had some bears pass in front of us while on our way to one in the Sapphire area. We rented a pontoon boat from Shook's Marina in Murphy our last afternoon there. This week went by too quickly. We just couldn't take everything in. We will definitely be back again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us!!"

"We so much enjoyed the Nottely River Retreat from the moment we arrived, to the day we left. The rushing river was soothing and lulled us to sleep each night. The weather was perfect for daily hiking and waterfall hunts. Dinner at the local rib restaurant in Murphy was delicious. Nearby trail biking on Lake Chatuge was invigorating, challenging and scenic. The neighbors are very friendly, and Bentley and Mercedes both accompanied us on our morning walk. The cabin was well furnished and very clean, and the owner was very pleasant to work with. We will definitely consider returning in the future. Thank you for sharing your home with us."

"My friend and I have been taking family vacations in the western North Carolina mountains for the past 30 years. We have rented houses in Sylva, Dillsboro, Franklin, Sapphire, and have found the Cashiers/Lake Glenville area the most suitable for our extended families of grandparents, parents and grandchildren. The last house we rented in Cashiers had its own 60 Ft. waterfall and a hot tub and was our favorite. It has since been sold and is no longer a rental. Luckily we found Porchlake this summer and we and all our kids have a new favorite. The house had plenty of room . All the improvements Mr. Calloway made over the years were greatly appreciated. The boat was a big plus, and the 3 person tube was an extra added bonus. The location on the cove was tranquil and the sloping grass area between the house and lake was perfect for the smaller grandchildren. Trout fishing, gem mining, waterfall exploring, golf, boating to the nearby island and tubing was enjoyed by all. The house was well equipped and Mr. Calloway's agent, Anne Jones was very helpful with the details to make our stay one of the most enjoyable ever in the North Carolina Mountains. A hot tub on the porch would translate to a name change to Lake Porch Shangra-la!"
