About the property

Amazing retreat for groups and can also be rented as 7 BRs if cottage is free

This home is a wonderful escape into history. Built in the early 1900s and updated several times, it has only had 5 owners since it's creation. Lots of updates for modern conveniences, but so many original features including wormy chestnut exposed beams, doors, and'll feel the century of old charm. The property is very private and includes lots of outdoor activities to enjoy if you're relaxing at the house and around the property. It is one of the closest homes to downtown Asheville you'll find.

Only 5 Miles to the Asheville Airport, 6-7 Miles to downtown Asheville, 4 miles to Blue Ridge Parkway and Biltmore Park. 5 Miles from I-40, 4 Miles to I-26, 7 Miles to Biltmore estate, and located less than 1 mile from so many restaurants, shopping, grocery stores and other nice won't have to drive far for anything.

Pulling into the home you'll realize what a wonderful find this historic home will provide for short or extended stays Asheville, this city and surrounding region has so much to provide. Call or email with any questions. It can accommodate smaller groups who need only 2-3 Bedrooms, all the way to 6 BRs and groups of 14-16...(or more if you want to spread out on couches and cots).

About Bill Russell

I am the owner and occupant of this home when it's not rented and have loved this property for nearly two decades when my best friend purchased the home in the 1990s. He finally sold it to me a few years ago and I have enjoyed raising my 3 kids on this large parcel that is SO close to Asheville, but you feel so far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but it's minutes away if you want to jump into everything the city has to offer.

I have been making constant improvements to the home and property making it an amazing find and one of the most unique homes you'll find in the area.

I'm a single father of 3, own a business in Asheville and got involved in rental property about 15 years ago. This property will be in my family as long as I'm alive and take excellent care of the grounds and anything that needs attention.

Bill Russell purchased this house in 2013

Why Bill Russell chose Asheville

This property is very private, it can accommodate large groups and there is plenty of room to spread out inside and out of the home.

It is so close to everything Asheville has to offer, all while staying in a century old home that is one of a kind. Keep in touch as all proceeds from this property are going back into continued improvements and amenities.

What makes this house unique

Next to the Main house is a separate cottage or "Owners Cottage". Its where I stay when the main house is rented. I will soon be on VRBO and Air B&B and can be added to the main house for larger groups who need another BR, and full living area. Super cool.

Unique house in beautiful setting. Modern upgrades in a historic house with tons of character. Perfect for family gatherings and close to Biltmore and downtown Asheville.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure hosting your family and I’m sorry about the disappointment that one of the historic bathrooms only had a cast iron tub instead of a shower head. I was informed that there was not enough head room in that one particular bathroom according to code, to install a shower head due to the risk of someone hitting their head on the ceiling that slopes down with the roof line. I am installing a new hand heald shower contraption which I hope makes it easier to shower in that bathroom, and also having a 5th bathroom added in the basement. Always trying to improve things here. Thanks again for visiting.

Beautiful Home in Asheville

  • 5 of 5

We came here for weekend and it was absolutely perfect. There was plenty of space for 13 women to comfortably sleep and stay (with some beds to spare). Everything was wonderful and Bill was very helpful during the time leading up to our stay. I would recommend this place to anyone and would stay here again many times!!

Great house outside Asheville

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 13 staying at the house for the weekend, and it fit our needs well. The historic house has a lot of character, but still had the modern amenities we were looking for -- plus everyone was able to sleep in a bed! We enjoyed the multiple seating areas and put the kitchen to use during our stay. Access to the house was simple, and the owner was easy to work with and made sure our stay went well. The house is a15-20 minute drive to downtown, but was the best option we found for a group our size. I would stay here again!
