  • Great except that it's not what I would consider "wheelchair accessible"

"The only difficulty we had was negotiating the bathroom situation with my mother-in-law. The main reason I rented this unit was that the VRBO site said that it was "wheelchair accessible." I'm not sure what definition they use for deeming it that way, but I was disappointed to find that the doorways to the bathrooms were quite narrow, and there were no grab bars anywhere. Generally wheelchair-accessible units have wider doorways and grab bars. My 93-year-old mother-in-law can only walk with a walker for short distances, and uses a transport wheelchair for any distance. The doorway to the master bathroom was too narrow for either her walker or her wheelchair; the same was true for the doorway into the other bathroom from the twin bedroom. The only bathroom doorway we could fit her through was the one off the hallway, which was barely wide enough for her wheelchair if we took off the foot supports, which we had to do each time she went in there. So it was a bit of a hassle but we made it work. The only other problem we had at first until I figured out how to fix it was that the bathtub doors in the hallway bathroom were off track, so we couldn't figure out how to close these doors to take a shower. After some struggle I figured out what the problem was and got these doors back on their tracks, so they now work fine. The pleasant surprise, on the other hand, was that the kitchen was the best equipped we'd ever seen in a rental unit, and we've stayed in a number of these. We were amazed at the full set of knives, pots and pans, and variety of cooking utensils and devices -- even a blender! It was fabulous! We especially enjoyed sitting out on the screened porch overlooking the pool and the ocean. Very delightful. We would definitely stay again. However, our one request/suggestion would be the installation of a grab bar in the hallway bathroom on the short wall opposite the toilet between the bathtub and the door to the twin room. It would have greatly reduced the bathroom issue we had with my mother-in-law. All in all, though, a very positive experience."

  • Great island getaway!!

"This is long overdue (apologies) but I can say we will definitely book this place again. It is very clean, well taken care of, nicely decorated and easy to live in during our stay. The bathrooms are updated with a large shower in the master. A full size washer and dryer was great to have. My favorite part...the lovely screened patio, which is perfect for lounging and reading a book in the afternoon. We loved the functional layout, cute clean furniture and bedding. We have little children so not having extra décor knick knacks everywhere is a major plus. The beach is a few hundred feet away across the courtyard beyond the pool. It is very quiet and has few people down at that end of the beach that time of year which was perfect for us. In the mornings we would walk out and watch the sunrise over the ocean...just beautiful. When we arrived, the land phones were not working, but the owner was easily accessible and very accommodating, handling the problem quickly. (The issue stemmed from another unit). I only bring this up to reassure future renters that if there is a problem, the owner and the onsite maintenance are very pleasant and easy to work with. The drive into town takes about 10 minutes so it's not super close, but just plan ahead for groceries...NOT a big deal at all. We have stayed in many other locations before, but this condo has been our best choice yet."

  • Very Nice Island Getaway

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We needed a two-bedroom condo in the Wild Dunes area and discovered this rental. We were having a vacation with our older children and their spouses so we wanted great location and amenities. This unit was just wonderful. It was beautifully decorated and provided everything we needed. I particularly enjoyed the local field guides in the book cabinet along with the novel, "Sullivan's Island". Really close to Charleston, excellent beach access, very neat island. We look forward to returning. At the last minute we realized we needed an extra car there and Island Realty was terrific to put us in contact with the people at the resort to get permission for more than 2 cars. It was an easy process."
