About this property

Unique Romantic Beach Style Cottage close to Folly Beach & historic Charleston!

If you like island living and are seeking a unique romantic get-a-way, you will LOVE our property. With a Caribbean/surfing theme you will be able to enjoy your stay with us in a private setting. Our ADULT ONLY cozy cottage has two rooms but all you need to relax and unwind. The outside area has tropical trees along the pathway to our pool and sun deck for your enjoyment. Music is also an added pleasure around the pool area with outdoor sound system. The garden shower (and only shower) is just outside the cottage doors, completely private and unique as you can see in the photos. Our guests have a private entrance to the cottage on the back of the property. There is a cozy porch with Adirondack chairs for relaxing. Bicycles, Beach chairs, surfboard, and cooler are provided for your beach fun. The property is located behind our home on a quiet cul-de-sac with no noise except for the songbirds chirping in the mornings. Short 10 minute drive to either Folly Beach or to downtown historic Charleston. We have many guests celebrate honeymoons, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, and other Charleston events throughout the year. A long list of things to do as well as favorite restaurants are provided by past guests as well as family and friends. Our pool is unheated and located behind the main home and being the only guests, you will be able to enjoy it on your own. We have a strict no-pet policy so please do not ask for an exception. The place was cute and cozy. A lot smaller than I anticipated, but it works. I didnt pay attention to the VRBO ad that the shower is outside, so that is important to know, especially in the colder months.

It is the perfect couples’ getaway! The house is absolutely adorable and the garden shower is so relaxing! The location of the house is great, a short drive to either the beach or downtown Charleston. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic Anniversary Rental

Kokomo Cottage was the perfect stay for my girlfriend and I’s anniversary! We loved the intimacy of the space, the proximity to downtown Charleston/Folly Beach, and the pool. Would recommend to any couple who wants to spend a romantic getaway in the Charleston area!

My wife and I visited for our 20 year anniversary and Kokomo Cottage was exactly as advertised. The property was clean, bed was comfy, and the amenities provided everything we needed. We really enjoyed the centralized location to everything. We were able to visit multiple breweries, Folly Beach, Downtown Charleston, and many great local restaurants. Our host was very responsive and also provided a local guidebook with things to do ect, which was a nice touch. It was perfect for a weekend getaway to go and get lost.

Ken and Christine were absolutely amazing! When arriving at the property we felt as though we were pulling into our own driveway. The cottage was absolutely perfect for my lady and I. Over the weekend we got engaged and we couldn't have picked a better place to come back to afterwards and relish in the moment. "The Sanborn's EST. 2025" now lives forever on the surfboard. Cozy stay for our beach getaway

My partner and I had a relaxing stay at the Kokomo cottage during our visit to Charleston. We very much enjoyed the backyard space and access to the pool and tiki bar that Ken and Christine have to offer. The mattress in the cottage was very comfortable and the rest of the cottage was clean and well-maintained. Highly recommended for a couple getaway!

Riverbend Music Festival

We had a lovely stay, and the location was an easy UBER Ride from the venue. Outdoor Shower did not disappoint event on a chilly morning. Will definitely stay there again. The Hosts were lovely and nonobtrusive.

Hello fellow travelers! My wife and I have been living here in Charleston for 10 years and feel it's the best place either of us ever called home. We love hosting to allow others to come and enjoy this island area we have come to love. My wife Christine has been a flight attendant with Delta for over 18 years and recently retired. I have recently escaped the corporate world and do handyman work around the islands to stay busy. We moved here from Atlanta where we lived for over 25 years and wouldn't live anywhere else! There are so many fun things to do here, we never get bored!

Why they chose this property

The property is in a great area on James Island on a quiet cul-de-sac. Just minutes to the beach or minutes to downtown Charleston. You will have plenty of privacy and will enjoy a relaxing atmosphere here at the cottage. You will have a private entrance and plenty of privacy. That's why we have so many couples stay here and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. It's quiet here, but only minutes to shopping, bars, restaurants and charming downtown Charleston.
