A family of four, including an 18-year-old daughter and 15-year-old daughter who love spending time at The Barn as much as their parents!
The Owner purchased this house in 2004
We fell in love with Langley after spending a weekend there. Then, we fell in love with a little A-framed barn that we visualized as becoming The Barn at Langley!
Our favorite things to do while at The Barn: walk into town (just three blocks away) to shop the boutiques, experience an amazing meal at Prima Bistro, watch a current film with the locals at the Clyde Theatre, hike Ebey Bluff, sip an excellent cup of coffee and listen to live music at Useless Bay Coffee Company, pick up delish local foods at the Bayview and 2nd Street (Langley) farmer's markets, walk through the nearby woods, cycle the beautful island... and the list goes on!
Overall, we had a great stay. This house is in a prime location in Langley, which was the highest priority for us. There are basic kitchen items (like pans, kitchen utensils, even salt and pepper) and we were able to make breakfast, but plan to go shopping and/or bring your own sugar, coffee, and milk though since the items in the kitchen were pretty haphazard. We were two couples for a weekend. My husband and I stayed on the (small) futon in the second bedroom and were ok, but a little uncomfortable. I'd recommend they get two twin beds in the downstairs bedroom that are able to be pushed together for a bigger bed to allow for two couples to stay more comfortably, but those are just my thoughts! :)
This was mostly a wonderful place to stay. It was great for our family gathering spot due to it's open floor plan and large dining table. We took advantage of the location by walking down to the water's edge and explored the super cute downtown.
Our main issue with our stay there was with their bed in the downstairs bedroom. The futon was not comfortable or large enough for two adults which was very awkward. There were no washcloths provided in the bathrooms and the kitchen was just marginally equipped with utensils to cook with.
The place looked even better in person. Perfect place to stay. Walk to downtown Langley. Wonderful patio. Loved everything.
I am pleased that I chose 'The Barn at Langley' for our stay on Whidbey Island. Walking distance to all shops and restaurants in Langley. And it was close to all of our wedding party venues. Property was clean, well kept and in a quiet neighborhood.
This was a house in a great location for a wedding in Langley: it was spacious and roomy and we did enjoy our stay. However, it was sparsely furnished and the bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom were not comfortable for adults. Some items we found to be missing: pizza cutter, enough towels, curtains that fully cover the bedroom window, nice to have items in a kitchen like salt and pepper, sweetener for coffee, and a nice coffee maker. The coffee maker was old and just ok. A little could be done to make this more of a luxurious stay for guests. Also, , There were not enough fans in the house for those who like white noise. We had to go get one.
Deren was responsive to my texts which was appreciated. Overall we had a great weekend.
My family and I rented the barn in Langley during the off season and we were there for 7 whole months so we have an entire overview of it!
Derin & Terri (the owners) are wonderful people and very easy to communicate and work with. So that is a bonus right away!
The home is full of warmth, character and charm. It is a perfect home for your needs in Langley.
It has everything you'd need inside the home, and also a very nice yard for your summer night stay.
You can walk to all the shops, restaurants , and down to the waterfront. We did this almost every day it wasn't raining. A very nice stroll to and from town!
Enjoy the cute bunnies, too.
If I needed a home to stay in again In Langley , there is nothing that this house doesn't provide - it is very cozy and comfortable and enjoyable . We will miss it being our home!
