About The Owner

A family of four who like to stay in other vacation homes around the world and spend time at The Barn as much as possible!

The Owner purchased this house in 2004

Why The Owner chose Whidbey Island

We fell in love with Langley after spending a weekend there. Then, we fell in love with a little A-framed barn that we visualized as becoming The Barn at Langley!

What makes this house unique

Our favorite things to do while at The Barn: walk into town (just three blocks away) to shop the boutiques, experience an amazing meal at Prima Bistro, watch a current film with the locals at the Clyde Theatre, hike Ebey Bluff, sip an excellent cup of coffee and listen to live music at Useless Bay Coffee Company, pick up delish local foods at the Bayview and 2nd Street (Langley) farmer's markets, walk through the nearby woods, cycle the beautful island... and the list goes on!

A beautiful place in an excellent location

  • 4 of 5

We really loved staying here. The space was simply, artistically decorated and our little ones just loved it. It was so convenient walking to downtown Langley from here, too. However, we were quite disappointed that there was no wifi available. If it weren't for this, the place would have been just about perfect!

Owner's Response: So happy to hear you enjoyed The Barn! Thank you for staying and for your nice review. We've been on the fence regarding Wifi, because it's so nice to occasionally get away from it for some real down time:) Thank you for your comments!

Great Location!

  • 3 of 5

The location was phenomenal! Lots of exterior charm, plenty of parking and a great location. You can easily walk to Langley - beach access, restaurants, shops, etc. Nice little outdoor area and the garden smelled so good!

That said, there were quite a few downfalls. Both of the bathrooms were not very clean - the upstairs bathroom shower was pretty dirty. The downstairs "shower" was more like a nice bathtub, but not functional as a shower. The walls in the downstairs bathroom had dirt all over them. The beds all need to be replaced! The upstairs bed was ok - but the bunk beds had camping mattresses on them (I mean the lumpy ones that roll up), the futon was not functional/sleep-able, and the living room bed is just a mattress on a bed frame that is used as a couch. The furnishings were few and sparse - like I said the living room didn't even have a couch, just a bed with a bunch of throw pillows. There are hardly any curtains! You are totally exposed and it gets hot in there. It looks like what few curtains they had were split up between the bedrooms and living room, not leaving any full window coverage.

If you are just looking for a great location and are not concerned with a cabin where you can relax and hang out, this is the place for you!

Owner's Response: Dear Kelly, Many thanks for your feedback. We usually get excellent reviews, so your concerns will be looked at. I will relay this information to our house cleaners. I'm very surprised that the bathrooms were as mentioned! Kind regards, Terri

Great location, wish there was a second queen size bed

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we had a great stay. This house is in a prime location in Langley, which was the highest priority for us. There are basic kitchen items (like pans, kitchen utensils, even salt and pepper) and we were able to make breakfast, but plan to go shopping and/or bring your own sugar, coffee, and milk though since the items in the kitchen were pretty haphazard. We were two couples for a weekend. My husband and I stayed on the (small) futon in the second bedroom and were ok, but a little uncomfortable. I'd recommend they get two twin beds in the downstairs bedroom that are able to be pushed together for a bigger bed to allow for two couples to stay more comfortably, but those are just my thoughts! :)

Perfect location for walking.

  • 4 of 5

This was mostly a wonderful place to stay. It was great for our family gathering spot due to it's open floor plan and large dining table. We took advantage of the location by walking down to the water's edge and explored the super cute downtown.

Our main issue with our stay there was with their bed in the downstairs bedroom. The futon was not comfortable or large enough for two adults which was very awkward. There were no washcloths provided in the bathrooms and the kitchen was just marginally equipped with utensils to cook with.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice words and for staying at the Barn. We will definitely work on providing more wash clothes. Thank you for the heads up. Since we are not at The Barn often, it's hard to track items that sometimes disappear. Love to have you back any time!
