My wife and I built our dream house on the North Shore of Oahu because its location offered the perfect balance between beach, people, and things to do. Within steps from the house in one direction you can be diving in a marine sanctuary; in the other direction is the nearly always deserted Keiki Beach. The historic town of Haleiwa, ten minutes down the road, has great restaurants and many cute shops to explore. If golf is your bag, the world famous Turtle Bay Resort is also a very short drive.
Michael purchased this House in 2006
Why Michael chose Pūpūkea
With just over an acre of land I was able to build a 4800 square foot house and still have plenty of garden for fruit trees and a expansive lawn.

Beautiful, peaceful retreat
Our family was in Hawaii to celebrate wedding anniversaries - a 45th, a 10th and a 1st! This was the perfect house for us! It was all the listing indicated, but so much more! Bedrooms were roomy and the beds very comfortable. A plus for our family of 8 is that there are 4.5 bathrooms in the house. We spent a lot of our time on the porch that extends on two sides of the house. We absolutely loved the patio doors that disappeared into the frame and let in lovely breezes. The layout afforded us family together time and also private couple time. The living, dining and kitchen areas are open concept. Each bedroom has its own balcony. The kitchen had everything we needed for the two nights we cooked. The lap pool was a hit - especially with our two grandchildren. The grounds are gorgeous. We could hear the waves breaking on Sunset Beach - a short walk from the house. We were visited frequently by chickens and a peacock, whom we named Kevin (after the bird in "Up"). While we did not get to meet Michael, the owner, he was just a phone call away to answer any questions. We would recommend this house for those who like to be near sites and activities, but still want a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.
I am so glad that you got what you were looking for. It sounds
like you enjoyed all the design features I built into the house. Thanks for noticing.
All those kind words and I didn't even show up!
Paradise on the North Shore.
Paradise on the North Shore. Michael has done an amazing job preparing this property. The house is fully equipped with everything you need. We felt right at home and enjoyed every minute of our stay. We look forward to returning next year!
The home was immaculate. Grounds gorgeous and a perfect setting. The pool was always kept clean.
My family and I spent a week in Michael's house. The house was everything as advertised and more. Every bedroom has its own bathroom and private deck with an added deck in the middle back and the large deck overlooking spectacular grounds and pool. We spent the better part at the house on the deck. The kitchen is oversized with everything required to cook all your meals as we cooked several. We barbecued a couple of times with some added family from the islands stopping by.
We had one set of lights that weren't working but Michael had them up and running by the time we returned back from the Polynesian Cultural Center. He's a great host. The house is located within one Mile from Sunset Beach, Bonsai Pipeline, Tidepools, Sharks Cove, Waimea Beach and Waimea Falls. You can't ask for much more than that.
We would give it 6 stars if we could. Again, Thank you for a wonderful house in a spectacular location.
The Sprankles Ohana....
We were a group of three families travelling together, and Michael's house worked out perfectly!
There was plenty of space. We ate dinner almost every night on the lanai. There was plenty of kitchen supplies for cooking large meals. The house felt very open.
The location was ideal. We walked across the street to watch the sunset on the beach most nights. The last day the waves were huge which formed a perfect kiddie pool on the beach that was live with local families. We walked to Pipeline everyday to watch the surf and tried many different food trucks in the neighborhood. There was a playground across the street from Pipeline where our kids liked to visit. The property is a short drive to Haleiwa town (super cute with shops and restaurants), a short drive (or moderate walk) to Waimea Bay, easy drive to Turtle Bay (great spot for sunset and cocktail). Pillbox hike was amazing and our 6 year old led the whole way. Surfers are everywhere.
Michael was incredibly accommodating and responsive to our questions/requests. We enjoyed hanging out with him as well, what a neat person.
Can't wait to return! Our new favorite spot in Hawaii.
A little piece of of heaven in the heart of it all!
My husband and I have been to Oahu many times in the past. We typically visit the North Shore and stay on the other side of the island. We booked this trip as a family vacation for both sides of our family and wanted the full experience of relaxation and vacation. That being said we have a 15 month old and an almost 3 year old so vacation's can not only be difficult with travel but also finding a place that accommodates them as well as our parents. This property was the perfect fit for all. Not only was everything we needed at the house but it was close by to everything as well. We were a quick walk to the food trucks, Shark's Cove, and Foodland. The house was equipped with surf boards, snorkel gear, sheets, towels, and all cooking items. The layout was perfect for a big family but felt like we all had our own space. My mother (who can't typically survive without a/c) was perfectly comfortable in the house because of the great circulation and fans.
I can't say enough wonderful things about Michael and his wife he was there anytime we needed anything. He even brought us bananas from a tree on the property and coconut juice. This place was truly a dream...we felt like we were out in the middle of no where in a super quiet and peaceful environment. There was also an awesome fenced in lap pool we enjoyed when we didn't feel like going to the beach! I not only highly recommend this place I will be coming back every year to enjoy and experience the true Aloha!!
Christy and family
I think I enjoyed your say as much as you did.Your people were
quite and respectful and I did notice how clean you left the house.
Thank you for being such great guests.
You make my hard work worth it.
Fantastic home, perfect location
Michael was so friendly & made sure we had everything we needed, the bikes & pool were fun, the location was perfect, amazing food trucks, Foodland & beach just across the road.
We loved Francis the peacock visiting every morning while we had a fruit breakfast from the garden.
Would definitely recommend Plantation House for a home away from home.
Thank you so much Michael.
