About Rick Vulgamott
We have been enjoying Glen Arbor and the surrounding area for over 25 years. While living in Boston we chose this area for our destination wedding to share our love for Michigan with family and friends from all over. Spending summer vacations and raising 2 children on Lake Michigan we finally found the perfect slice of heaven in Glen Arbor and called it Northeness. We hope you will enjoy our home and this beautiful area as much as we have.

Great stay in a comfy cottage
Thank you for a great fall getaway
Sweet and charming!
We had a phenomenal ladies weekend staying at the Northerness Cottage! Very accommodating and comfortable and clean! We absolutely loved the outdoor shower feature. Thank you Rick and Sue for an amazing weekend stay!
Perfect location in GA
Our family has stayed at the Northerness 3 times over the last 7 years. Each time we have enjoyed the cottage a great deal. It is located on a peaceful road within walking distance of town. The bikes that are available to guests make travelling to the grocery store quick and easy.
We always enjoy our evenings by the fire pit.
Great place for a family to stay while visiting Glen Arbor
Beautiful home, tucked away in the woods!
My family definitely enjoyed our stay at the Northerness. The home was big enough for six adults and one child. The rooms were comfortable and beds were too! Having all the linens provided was such a perk! Kitchen has all the items we needed to do much of our cooking and eating at the home. The decor was fun and gave it lots of character. They really did a good job of thinking of everything you could possibly need while you're there. The outdoor seating area and fire pit were phenomenal! Unfortunately, our weather was a little on the rainy side, so we spent most nights inside, but we were happy and comfortable! Glen Arbor is much changed from 10 years ago. It's a busy place during the day but slows down at night and is super charming to walk through. We had two beautiful sunsets. We walked our kayaks down the street and were able to make it down the river just in time for the rain to hit. Crystal River Outfitters were super accommodating to us having our own gear. The Northerness is tucked away on a back road so we had plenty of quiet in the woods. Perfect walking distance from town. We ended up seeing lots of wildlife! Deer, raccoons, skunks, bald eagle... it was great! We were VERY happy with our choice to stay here.
Lovely Memorial Day Weekend!
Rick and Suzanne's house is simply lovely. Wonderful layout, great kitchen. We found little thoughtful details everywhere: a Petosky stone in the bathroom stone floor, a state of Michigan rock at the entrance. We used the hammock, the grill, the outdoor table, the firepit! Easy walk to Glen Arbor. Rick answered quickly when we asked about best beaches -- and we loved them too. (end of Bay road and Glen Haven FYI!). Quite, convenient to Glen Arbor. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Lovely, immaculate home
My family was in Glen Arbor for a family reunion. Northerners was a perfect central location for all the other attendees. We slept 5 very comfortably. However the living space is very limited, with only one couch and two chairs., and no table for dining or games. Fortunately, when the weather cooperates, there is lots of space outdoors.
National bike trail thru scenic wooded area winding thru National park and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Bicycles provided with cottage which include a tandem bike.
