About this property

Charming Restored Cottage near Nauset Beach, The Summer House

Our cottage was originally built in 1941 and has been completely and lovingly restored with vintage white beadboard ceilings, shiplap walls and classic built-ins and has been furnished with everything you need for a memorable Cape Cod vacation.

Our three bedrooms each have a unique and personal character. The master suite has vaulted shiplap ceiling, queen brass bed, cable TV, large ceiling fan, large, walk-in closet and a private and cheery master bath with privacy wall and soaking tub.

There is a second bedroom with an antique double bed and large dresser for storage off the main living area and a third bedroom with a classic vaulted beadboard ceiling, exposed rafters, twin beds, antique transom window and two large windows that open onto the screened porch.

There is also a wonderful, custom built outdoor shower for getting clean after a day at the beach!

Our location is within walking distance to East Orleans village, where you can find fresh brewed coffee and amazing muffins in the morning and to Sundae School for ice cream at night. Nauset Beach is just two miles away and you can easily bike into Orleans to access the Cape Cod Rail Trail or for shopping or to try out the many great restaurants.

Summer rentals are a minimum of 7 days, Saturday to Saturday.

Bedspreads, blankets and pillows are provided, however bedsheets and towels are not included, except by special arrangement for an additional fee.

We do not have a washer and dryer, but there is a laundromat if needed 5 minutes away.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Quaint, private summer cottage near cape beaches!

Our family loved our stay at the Summer House. It was not only what the ad promised but much more. The O'Brien's are warm and welcoming hosts. The property is meticulously kept and roomier than I thought. An easy drive from beaches and shopping. I would happily recommend it to friends.

Perfection!

This charming cottage was perfect in every detail. The owners, Barbara and Tom, went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcomed. The location is ideal for exploring the area. The street is quiet but convenient to restaurants and shopping. The cottage was immaculate and so comfortable. Would definitely recommend this property and would love to spend time there again. Thanks Barbara & Tom for making my 65th birthday so special!

Loved our 2 weeks at the summer house

My husband and I stayed at the summer house with our 2 young kids for 2 weeks. The house has been beautifully renovated and was immaculate when we arrived. The large porch provides so much extra space and we ate all our meals out there. My kids especially loved to play on the porch and in the yard. Jim is friendly, easy to get in touch with and responsive to texts. We were a short drive to 2 great beaches, which we went to every day, as well as a walk to a great gourmet market and ice cream shop. Would definitely recommend the house! Thanks Jim!

Updated, classic Cape Cod Cottage

If your looking for a quaint, quite, peaceful, clean comfortable cottage that can accommodate a family of three to four very comfortably...this is the place. We especially loved the outside porch in the back that opens up directly into the kitchen. It has a picnic table for meals and an area with comfortable chairs and a table for lounging. We also loved the attention to detail the owners put into the construction of the property like the sliding barn door for the bathroom, the wood grain tile floors, and the graphic photos on the walls taken by the owner. The cottage is perfectly located near the town of Orleans and right down the street from Nauset Beach. In our case it gave us close access to the outer cape where we like to do most of our day tripping. The owner Jim takes great care to welcome you to the property and he loves to share his knowledge of the area to make sure that you will have a pleasant stay. He takes great pride in his property and he only rents to responsible tenants which means the property stays clean and very well maintained. Oh yes, one more thing...we love the outdoor shower!

Magical cottage

We had a wonderful, relaxing week here. Location is great -- very quiet yet close to everything, including a fantastic ice cream shop a five-minute walk away -- and the cottage is exceptionally pretty, both tasteful and simple. Couldn't ask for a more relaxing or pleasant base for a Cape Cod vacation.

Charming, cozy, quiet cottage

We found the cottage sparkling clean and ready for us on arrival. It has a lovely interior with plenty of room to relax. All three bedrooms are warm and cozy. The place reflects its history via a well-done renovation. Other homes are not immediately next door so it was very quiet and secluded. The cottage is conveniently located 5-10 minutes from town and the same distance from Nauset Beach, Cape Cod's finest. We had a wonderful five day stay!

A very peaceful place

We had a wonderful time at the cottage. Communication with Jim, the owner, couldn't have been easier. The cottage was a perfect match for our family, enough room for my husband and three teens to enjoy. The cottage is well equipped, was spotless when we arrived and fitted our needs perfectly. It's proximity to beaches was definitely a plus, it was a great home base to discover Cape Cod.

The cottage was adorable and had thoughtful finishing touches. The screened in porch was a great added feature and we spent a lot of time out there - drinking coffee in the morning, reading, working and dinners at night. Would be wonderful if it had a dish washer and washer and dryer- but we made due and for just a week was fine. The owner greeted us upon check in and stopped by twice during the week to pick up garbage and water plants, and then met us when we checked out. You can tell he takes pride in his property which is sweet. Though could give one the impression that you aren't alone on vacation. Overall great for a week's stay.

Gorgeous beachy cottage

We absolutely loved our time at this rental! We had 3 adults and 2 children and it never felt crowded. Every last detail was thought of by the owners! To include the outdoor shower which was great for rinsing off after the beach! Would definitely stay here again!

Absolutely Charming...

I recently stayed at this cottage with my family, including my Mom. Just enough room to be together without stepping on each other. Mom loved sitting on the porch for her morning coffee. This cottage is extremely clean and the owners thought of everything that would be needed. Thank you. I plan to come back to Cape Cod next year and will definitely book this cottage.
