About Jay Welborn
Jay is a retired Air Force officer and currently works as a contractor at Shaw AFB, SC. Jay went to Architecture school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he and Susan fell in love with the Smoky Mountains area during weekend getaways. Susan owns a home daycare center and has provided childcare all over the world as the Air Force moved us from place to place to include Japan, Germany, and a myriad of stateside assignments. We have five children and the cabin has provided a wonderful place for our family gatherings.
Jay Welborn purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Jay Welborn chose Gatlinburg
We bought this cabin because it was so close to Gatlinburg and it was nestled in the woods just the way we wanted. Zero steps to main level, easy access drive, and plenty of parking. Winter mountain views and seeing the Ober Gatlinburg Tram is really cool. We've spent the last couple years remodeling and putting our special touch on the place. We've already had lots of memorable outings with friends and family in our home away from home.
What makes this Cabin unique
Plenty of space for a family get together! We know you'll enjoy our little cabin in the woods.

We all enjoyed our stay at the cabin. We all had our own rooms and bathroom. The bunk beds came in handy for the grand kids. We left a few items behind and the owner was kind of enough to mail them back to us. FYI: Take heed about locking your car and removing all food. My daughter had a bear get into her van, we awoke to find both side doors open, Kleenex box shredded and items scattered about the driveway. She was told to lock it but forgot! The weather was good and we got to enjoy Dolly -Wood on Saturday. All and all it was a great little weekend getaway enjoyed by all.
Wonderful stay, clean, spacious and peaceful!
Had a wonderful stay at this property, very clean and necessities provided. Spacious for all of us who stayed and the game room was a favorite spot for everyone. We also had the chance to see a family of bears roaming right behind the property upon arrival. Deffinately recommend!
All the amenities were wonderful about a mile from downtown. We cooked dinner every night very cozy. Would recommend to anyone thats wants the experience. Owners were very awesome and reply to messages within a very timely manner. Will be going back again next year. 😁
So glad your family enjoyed the stay!! We look forward to having you back next year.

The house was in a great location, only a quarter of a mile from the Gatlinburg town strip and the entrance to Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Beautiful house. Hot tub was so nice in the evenings. Plenty of room for 8 people. Having 3 levels with three bedrooms with their own bathrooms was so convenient. The scenery was amazing. We hiked a valley that was right up the street! The driveway was NOT steep like many of the other houses nearby. Great for an elderly couple. Nice having a washer and dryer. The game area was great for the kids.
Clean, cozy cabin with great location!
We really loved our stay in this cabin. We were a bit shocked when we pulled up and saw all the other cabins surrounding us , as the pictures made it look a bit more secluded, but everyone kept to themselves and it wasn’t an issue at all! We also figured that having all the foliage bloomed would have helped with the seclusion. The cabin was great and very roomy and spacious. We had two couples and each not only got their own room but their own FLOOR as well! The cabin was stocked with a TON of towels, which I loved. All the kitchen dishes and utensils you could need. It was very clean and well worth the money! Location was great as it was right outside the main strip in Gatlinburg, but not in the hustle and bustle , and far up enough in the mountains to get that mountain feel but not so far up we didn’t feel confident in driving back and forth multiple times or at night.
