This beautiful , completely renovated pet-friendly beach-themed apartment is located in a beautiful old mansion originally built in the late 1890s, right during the historic Flagler boom. It's located in the upscale Flagler Model Land tract, just a couple of blocks away from where the original historic Flagler mansion stood and where Flagler College now is.
We're located only a couple of long blocks from the Historic Downtown and the iconic St. George Street which has dozens of great restaurants, historic building, fun bars, lots of live music and interesting boutiques for shopping.
It is even closer to one of our favorite Irish bars, Barley Republic, where we often go to grab a super meal. It is just a bit further to our favorite sushi and Thai restaurant, The Thai & Sushi House located on Hypolita and only a few minutes walk away. The Thai House is some of the best Thai food we have had all over the US. If you're a Thai food (or sushi) fan, don't miss it!
If you prefer to stay in for the night, you have a fully equipped kitchen with all the pots, pans, dishes and even spices that you need. There is a dining room table which is good for working with your laptop, should work call you.
The queen-size bed is comfortable and piled high with pillows. There a lot of closet space, as well as a large dresser in the bedroom. The bathroom is completely renovated with a walk-in shower which is beautifully tiled.
The home has both heating and air conditioning. We have a "split" system, which has units in both the bedroom and the living room. There is still the original through-the-wall HVAC as a backup, but you shouldn't need it.
Internet, wifi, basic cable tv and guaranteed parking for one car is included. There is usually additional street parking available nearby and we can sometimes make arrangements for additional parking, but it requires a parking permit which we can provide.
We enjoy sitting outside on the back deck in the evening and listening to the music from St. George Street. You can't hear the music from inside the house, but it softly wafts through the air on the weekend evenings. You have a private door from your bedroom to the back deck and the back yard. This is a pretty quiet neighborhood, with very little road or train noise. We're located right across the street from an elementary school, so during the day, the kids at recess are definitely having a lot of fun.
There's a large, shared backyard which has charcoal bbq grills, picnic tables, and other seating for you to enjoy. There are also bicycles in the big shed for you to use to explore the City during the day. We always recommend wearing a helmet, and nighttime bike riding is discouraged with the dark, narrow streets in St. Augustine. The bicycles are on a first-come, first-serve basis, as are the beach chairs you'll also find in the shed. Bike locks are provided, and necessary!
Francis Field, where many of the important festivals in St. Augustine are held, is located right at the end of the block. Francis Field also has a large children's playground and free community tennis courts available for your use. It's a great place to walk your dog when there's not a festival, and many runners also use the field. It's huge.
This is a lower level apartment in an old house, so it is probable that you will hear footsteps above you, but we have not noticed a lot of other noise.
You are welcome to bring your pet, and there is no pet fee. However, if the pet is a yapper and barks constantly when left alone, you will have to take the dog with you. We are concerned about the enjoyment of all of our guests and hearing a constantly barking dog is not enjoyable! Please do pick up after your pet as well. The bags can just go in the trash cans out front.
If you have severe allergies, we cannot guarantee a dander-free environment, so you will need to keep that in mind when booking. There is no carpeting, only hard flooring, so it hasn't been an issue with guests with mild allergies.
We would love to have you come and stay with us. You'll love this beautiful old house and the pine floors. We love living here, and we are certain you will enjoy your visit. St. Augustine is a wonderful town, with a lot to discover. This house is in a wonderful location. St Augustine is a wonderful place to visit with so many diverse attractions. Do you enjoy walking through the oldest town in the US, looking at the mix of English and Spanish architecture? If history interests you, both the Castillo San Marco and The Fountain of Youth are worth a visit. Like the outdoors? There are hikes, water sports, swimming, fishing and more, all readily available nearby. Do you like good food and entertainment? Some of the best restaurants are located in St. Augustine, and it also has a fun nightlife with some great bars.
