About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Our spacious summer cottage (White Pines Lake Michigan Cottage) sits on a wooded dune with unobstructed views and private property access to Lake Michigan. The large front yard leads to a footbridge and beach path over two long dunes winding down to our private Lake Michigan beachfront. The path, bridge and steps to the beach are well maintained and easy to navigate. The environment is peaceful and relaxing with private sandy beach. We take pride in ensuring a high quality experience for our guests and look for renters who will treat the cottage as their home.

There are three bedrooms that can accommodate a total of 8 people. Bedroom 1 has a king bed, Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and Bedroom 3 has a king and two twins. There are two full baths, one with a tub, and there is a washer/dryer for your use.

You can enjoy views of Lake Michigan and breathtaking sunsets from the deck and/or the outdoor fire pit. Relax on the clean, sandy beach, golf, bike, fish, kayak, or walk the shoreline for miles.

For golfers, a great public lakefront golf course is just 2 miles up the road. For bicyclists, the Hart-Montague bike trail is minutes away. Kayaking and all forms of boating available. If you enjoy sightseeing, you can find interesting lakefront attractions and resort towns within a short drive!

The cottage has comfortable, inviting furnishings throughout and high quality bed linens and comforters on all beds. Two screened porches - one with wicker furniture and an antique harvest table which is great for family dinners or games. On cool nights, you can enjoy the wonderful wood-burning fireplace - some wood is provided for your convenience.

The beach is very sandy with very few rocks and a gentle sloping drop off into the water. Beach walks are a favorite past time as you can walk for miles. Responsible beach fires are allowed.

We are dog lovers and therefore allow one well behaved dog and responsible owners. Pets MUS BE PRE-APPROVED and a Pet Fee will be applied to the rent. Pet rules must be adhered to and leash laws are in effect. Please make sure your pet does not chew the furniture or damaged property. Sorry - but absolutely no cats allowed. Our cleaning process is very thorough to ensure all guests enjoy their stay in very clean surroundings.

PET POLICY: You must tell us ahead of time that you will be bringing a pet. All dogs must be on leash at ALL TIMES when outside. Beautiful Vacation Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a wonderful vacation at the Montague cottage. The views are just as pretty as they are in the pictures. The cottage is clean, spacious, and unusually well equipped--the owners have been quite thoughtful in outfitting it for travelers. There's a huge yard for the kids to play in and plenty of toys and games.

The beach is clean, gorgeous, and quiet. For those who can't make the climb down the stairs and over the dunes to get to it, there's an easier access point two minutes down the road at Medbury Park, where it's just as quiet and beautiful.

Our favorite things were the incredible sunsets, fires in the fire pit, and the blanket of stars. Overall a wonderful vacation.

Summer Vacation 2012

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I traveled to the cottage in June 2012. We were immediately impressed when entering the cottage through the large screen porch at the rear. The room contains comfortable outdoor furniture, and opens up via French doors into an open concept kitchen/dining room/living room. Due to the open concept, you get a wonderful view of Lake Michigan from many rooms of the house.

We enjoyed most days sitting on the deck enjoying the view.

Be advised that there are quite a few stairs to get down to the bridge that takes you across the creek. From there you have to travel back up some stairs to a sand path that takes you up and over a couple of small dunes.

There were plenty of good restaurants in Montague/Whitehall/Muskegon, we enjoyed a dune ride in Silver Lake (about 45 minutes north) and a dinner cruise in Muskegon.

Overall, a great cottage that was very clean, spacious and had a great view. You won't be dissappointed.

Wonderful Labor Day 2011

  • 5 of 5

Our family just enjoyed some rare time together at this cottage and loved every minute of it. The views are so beautiful, my grandson loved the toys, the booster seat & step up so he could wash hands were wonderful to have. Evenings by an outdoor fire (my first s'mores!) a lovely fire in the livingroom fireplace on a cool evening, and playing board games, Jinga, Rummy while spending time & enjoying conversations with our family who are usually 'on the go'.
