WHALE COVE BEACH HOUSE - An idyllic three-storey summer home on the gorgeous west coast of scenic Cape Breton Island, it is set on 15 acres with an expansive 1,800’ of oceanfront to explore.

This private, full two-storey space is 2000 square feet with three large bedrooms and two full bathrooms. All three of the bedrooms feature very comfortable queen-sized beds. The spacious main floor features a large bedroom with full ensuite bath as well as a fully-equipped, large country-style kitchen that is stocked with all the essentials and includes laundry facilities. The eating area comfortably accommodates dining for six. The large living room features a wood-burning fireplace and walk-out to a massive 800-sf deck. This is the perfect area to gather, sunbathe, barbecue, dine or enjoy the spectacular unobstructed coastal views. On the top floor there are two bedrooms and a bath with walk-in shower. Wireless Fiber OP internet and Fibe TV are included, along with a Sonos sound system.

There is a suite on the garden level for the owners' use. However, this property is yours while you stay at Whale Cove Beach House. Our priority always is your comfort and privacy. We are nearby to answer questions or advise on things to do in the area.

Whale Cove is a perfect base for exploring Cape Breton Island. We are conveniently located 5 minutes off the world-famous Cabot Trail. A short 20-minute drive south along the coast is world-renowned golfing at Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs - rated #10 in the WORLD by Golf Digest! Just 20 minutes north along the coast is the charming Acadian village of Cheticamp and entrance to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. This gorgeous home is just a short walk or 5 minute drive to three beautiful sand beaches where you can enjoy swimming in the warmest waters north of the Carolinas.

Enjoy dramatic sunsets over the ocean from the west-facing deck as you enjoy an evening cocktail. Sip your morning coffee from the deck or take it with you for a stroll along the bank at the waterfront. Watch the whales and seals as they swim past the front of the property, bald eagles as they fish or local lobster boats pass by. There are many local attractions and activities to enjoy, whether scotch tasting at the Glenora Distillery; fly fishing on the Margaree River; golfing or playing tennis at Cabot Links; relaxing on one of the local sandy beaches; hiking; whale watching; kayaking or paddle boarding; visit a local artisan or market; enjoying a local Cèilidh; square-dances; and so much more. Absolutely Delightful -- every aspect

I couldn't recommend this property and commend the owner more highly. Exactly as listed - exactly what we were seeking: location (perfect launching point for all exploits); accommodations (comfortable, clean, and lovely); kitchen (everything we needed); setting (peaceful and what a view!). Wonderful!

We had an amazing time at Whale Cove. The house was perfect for our family of 5 adults and had everything we needed. Household items such as laundry and dish soap were provided as well as an amply stocked spice cabinet. We loved the coastal access via the trails cut by the owners and enjoyed regular walks and sunsets along the stunning coast. The house is centrally located to many activities along the west side of CB. In our many years of VRBO rentals, we have never encountered such gracious, helpful and kind hosts/owners. We have no hesitation in recommending this property and would love to return in the future.

Wonderful relaxing experience

What an amazing spot to relax and unwind with the beautiful ocean views and sounds of the waves hitting the shore. My family had a wonderful time travelling to many areas on Cape Breton. The location is perfect for exploring the National Park with it's breathtaking scenery and many hikes, relaxing on the nearby beaches or just sitting on the gorgeous deck admiring the view. Lloyd was a perfect host with many suggestions on local beaches and restaurants. The house is very spacious and well equipped. The evening sunsets were spectacular - you couldn't ask for a better location to sit and admire the view. A memorable family vacation for sure.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely property. The view (especially sunset) is magnificent from the deck and the massive yard through the woods down to the grasslands where the cliffs and beaches meet the sea (and the owner has mowed a long pedestrian path to strategically arranged seating). The large kitchen made cooking easy and we enjoyed the local foods the owners gave us to try during our stay. The beds were comfortable and I especially liked being able to hear the ocean while falling asleep. The owner is easy to reach and knowledgeable about local attractions and restaurants. The location is nicely situated in a secluded spot, but a short drive to towns. Everyone in the family agrees that we’d like to return!

Perfect get away

We had a wonderful stay at this home. The hosts were great - the well equipped home fits the area perfectly - it is centrally located to area attractions - it is wonderfully isolated - the deck is large and has a panoramic view of the ocean. It was great headquarters for exploring Cape Breton, but we enjoyed spending time at our home as well…happy hour on the deck watching the sun set is a must.

Incredible House- a Must Stay!

This property is amazing! The location is unbeatable: a quiet retreat in close proximity to beaches, gallery shopping, and the National Park. So the house is situated perfectly as a central spot to call home for a week-long trip exploring and enjoying Cape Breton. The views and setting of this property are breathtaking! The back deck directly overlooks the Bay of St Lawrence AND there are beautiful well-kept pathways winding through the yard right along the water’s edge- the perfect way to enjoy the sunset either with a glass of wine on the porch, or a stroll along the waterfront. There are also 3 beautiful beaches very close to the house- these are perfect for swimming, and not crowded at all, even during the sunny summer week I was there. Lloyd is lovely- a gracious and kind host who checked in at the start of my stay to make sure everything was in order. Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay!! Definitely recommend highly!!

Beautiful Property

This property was absolutely stunning. The view from the deck and the adirondack chairs is truly remarkable. You are just a couple miles off the Cabot trail and in between Inverness and Cheticamp which both have great food options. The property itself was very clean and spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a few meals at home. The check-in process was extremely easy and the communication with Lloyd was spectacular. He provided recommendations for food and activities which was greatly appreciated. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, I highly recommend this property!!

Nothing Short of Amazing!

Beautiful home located on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence with stunning ocean and sunset views from the expansive west facing deck. The cottage is beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The owner maintains a suite below but you would never know he's there...I actually got to meet him and he's super nice and quick to reply to any questions. The cottage is close to everything; The Cabot Trail, grocery and liquor store, gas station and The Dancing Goat Cafe and Bakery where we started every day. If you're planning a vacation in Cape Breton, I enthusiastically recommend Whale Cove Cottage. We will be back!

Amazing property and vacation!

My family of four adults had an amazing time at this property! The house was clean, spacious, well decorated, and had everything we needed for a week on Cape Breton Island. Lloyd and Hugh were lovely hosts- so kind, welcoming, and flexible with a payment issue ahead of our arrival. They provided recommendations for favorite spots and were very nice to talk to, but were also extremely quiet and respectful of guest privacy. The views from this property are even better than the photos, with amazing sunsets every night from the large deck, and lots of walking trails down to the cove and ocean. It is a great location with easy access to the Cabot Trail and Cape Breton Highlands National Park. We would not hesitate to stay here again on future trips!

Great House with Killer Views

This is a spectacular house. It has a very private setting with views of the gulf and working lobstermen from the deck. Inside it is clean, very well stocked and spacious. Lloyd and Kevin were wonderful hosts, who shared their knowledge of the area around Margaree Harbour. My wife and I couldn't recommend this property more. It was the highlight of our four week tour of NL and NS.

Great stay!

We leave enchanted from our stay at the Whale Cove! This was our first family family gathering since the beginning of the sanitary crisis. The house is very clean, comfortable, and well appointed. The kitchen is fully equipped and the beds very comfortable. The main room of the home is certainly the extraordinary deck with a breathtaking view of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The breakfasts, lunches and dinners on the deck will be forever remembered. The sunsets are simply remarkable! Lloyd is a terrific host, discreet and service oriented. Our three kids and their partners greatly enjoyed their stay and all the region had to offer: beaches, trekking, golf, birdwatching, etc…! Kevin was extremely quick with all communication and very helpful with local logistics information. The home was very nicely decorated, clean and stocked with all kitchen needs, including olive oil and spices. They gifted us with some lovely coffee and a bottle of wine and homemade jam! Our bed and bedding were comfy and the upstairs new shower was a treat. Sitting on the large deck, having coffee while watching for wildlife panning the ocean vista was an inspiring experience. We are hoping to come back! Oh, we also found the location of the house on the Cabot Trail was perfect for doing all of the hiking and exploring we set out to do! All Lovely, really :)

Lovely View

Perfect location for driving the Cabot trail, this property is clean and well managed. The deck and the kitchen are large and comfortable. The view from the deck at sunset is quite remarkable. Nova Scotia is not crowded, this is a great place to "get away from it all."

Don’t hesitate to book this property! Truly a very special place with jaw-dropping views of the water and the coastline. Very private. Fully stocked house with everything you can possibly need. Very clean. Sandy, picturesque beach (best we’ve seen in Cape Breton) is 2 minutes away. The Skyline trail is some 30 minutes away. Owner is very responsive. One of the best rentals I’ve been to!

Perfect property and unbelievable stay

This cottage and property were amazing! It is a very private location right on the water, where you can watch osprey, hawks, sea birds and bald eagles. We saw the most beautiful sunsets while there! The cottage itself has everything you would ever need and more. The owner is obviously very thoughtful and was readily available to answer questions or provide advice on the area. The cottage was spotless and had the most amazing bedding, pillows and towels. Nothing was overlooked! The kitchen is massive and is a wonderful gathering area. We have no complaints whatsoever and would not hesitate to book this property again. It's proximity to beautiful towns, great seafood, the National Park and Cabot Cliffs golf course is ideal. When we return to Cape Breton, this will be the first place we will reserve! A huge thanks to Kevin!!!

Beautiful Place with Amazing Sunset Views

Kevin was a wonderful host. A great time was had by all. Check-in was a breeze and we were greeted with a nice welcome gift basket. The house has a wonderful setting and beautiful views all around. Everything we needed was supplied by the host from the barbeque and kitchen supplies for cooking, to beach towels and toiletries. We enjoyed grilling and hanging out on the deck in the afternoons cooking dinner and watching the gorgeous sunsets after our rounds at Cabot Links. We even took a swim at the nearby beach one afternoon. This was definitely a trip we'll all remember for a lifetime. I highly recommend this rental if looking to stay in the area we were very pleased and have nothing but great things to say.

Beach House Fun

Thank you for an amazing stay. This house had everything we needed. The amazing deck provided incredible sunset meals and great stargazing. Hosts were very accommodating with our kids and puppy. Why they chose this property

I fell in love with this property when introduced to it by my real estate agent, even before it was listed. I always loved the west coast of Cape Breton Island where the waters are warmest, the sunsets without compare and an unparalleled coastline. I flew down to take a look at it and the rest is history.
