Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)
Charming 2-bedroom cottage located on a family-owned waterfront estate that was converted from a circa 1920s chicken coop. This retreat has inspiring views of Shelter Island and is only steps away from the peaceful waters of the Peconic bay. Described by as 'one of the last saltwater farms,' the estate is not only picturesque, but is also an exemplary model of a traditional working farm. Gentle breezes off the bay keep the house naturally cool, so air conditioning is rarely, if ever, needed. Lots of room indoors and out makes the cottage both kid- and pet-friendly. The deck and sprawling lawn make for a great place to entertain friends and family, or the perfect spot to lie back, relax, and relish the view. Stroll along the estate's expansive private beach or have a picnic overlooking the water. The beautiful tree-filled grounds complete the pristine view of the bay and Shelter Island, making the estate an artist’s paradise for all seasons. The cottage is quiet and secluded, yet within easy walking distance to Greenport Village, offering the best of both worlds.
With a strong nautical history, Greenport is a water-lover’s paradise and the perfect destination for sailing, boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Mitchell Park Marina is just a short walk from the estate and provides transient slips by the day or week. Please call in advance for reservations to secure your spot.
While downtown in the village of Greenport, explore the local boutiques and stores. Take advantage of the history-rich Railroad, Stirling–Ireland House, and East End Seaport museums. Ride the antique carousel, or take a tour of the harbor on The Glory, an electric launch. Sample the local bounty from land and sea in a variety of restaurants offering casual fare to award-winning dining. Tour the over 42 vineyards located here on the North Fork. Discover the art galleries featuring local and international artists who represent the contemporary to the classic. So much tucked into one square mile and all conveniently within walking distance!
Greenport's proximity to Manhattan, Connecticut, and the South Shore means you don’t have to go far to get away. Enjoy a casual drive from the city, or let the LIRR or Hampton Jitney carry you here stress free. Either way there is something for everyone, so come and experience what makes Greenport charming and unique. For more information about Greenport and all it has to offer,
The estate also offers additional accommodations that when combined can be perfect for family gatherings. Please visit listing #173361--“The Gate House” or 234929 the main house

Relaxing bliss, with fresh blueberries
Spending the week at Cherry Lane Farm on the beach is the most relaxing thing ever. The cottage is rustic but sparkling clean, and having a full kitchen and two charcoal grills means cooking all the fresh bounty right there makes it feel like you're home - but relaxed on the beach.
The private beach is gigantic and great for swimming, sand castles, fishing, or cooking over the host's giant kettle firepit. The inlet makes taking canoes or kyaks out super-easy, and the protected salt marsh on one side of the property makes you feel like you're surrounded by nature and the bay. The picture posted of the sunset over the salt marsh - which is just off the deck on the cottage - doesn't do its beauty justice.
It's a 15 min walk to downtown Greenport and Aldo's famous coffeeshop, and a shorter drive to the nearest wineries on Long Island, so there's plenty to do. Plus your host Pat is affable, and always up to suggest new things to do or point you to the best spots for shopping, dining, fishing, or boating.
Highly recommended; you can have any weeks except the ones that we go down each year!

No Place Better
Our seven night stay at Pat Nelson's cottage was absolutely fantastic. A perfect combination of beach and country are all on this seven acre paradise. Pat is the pefect host , and offers his kayaks, charcoal grills , and many other things to make your stay enjoyable.
I'd give TEN stars if possible.
Beautiful and relaxing--can't beat the location!
My family spent a lovely week here at the end of June--nature abounds in this peaceful and gorgeous setting. No need to "pack up and go to the beach"...the beach is right here, on the property. This is my second or third time staying in this house, and each time it just gets better. Incredibly laid back, convenient, and just stunning! We'll be back.....
Beyond our expectations! Beautiful place!
Stayed at the cottage and absolutely loved it!!! Nothing better than seeing the water right out your bedroom window! Such a calm, peaceful & beautiful place. It has now become an annual family trip to bring us all together in one place. We already have our 2015 dates booked and are looking forward to our stay!
Beyond our expectations!! Beautiful place!
Stayed at the cottage for a girls getaway and absolutely loved it!!! Nothing better than seeing the water right out your bedroom window! Such a calm, peaceful & beautiful place. Needless to say that I have been back there several times after that for other occasions, at different times, with family & other group of friends! I still can't make up my mind which season I like spending there the most! It has now become an annual family trip to bring us all together in one place. We already have our 2015 dates booked and are looking forward to our stay!
A Great Spot
What an awesome place! Gorgeous, peaceful setting on the water.... over 7 acres and 700 feet of waterfront property!!!!! We were here mid September and just loved sitting on our lawn chairs, watching the egret and heron on the marsh. The egret visited daily. We also viewed The Shelter Island ferry from our own private beach! Pat, the owner, is a wonderfully gracious, helpful and friendly host. A tandem kayak was available for our use.The cottage is cute, clean and well stocked. (It also has WiFi, cable and a DVD player.) The deck is a great hang out spot. Town is an easy walk.... less than 3/4 of a mile. The Shelter Island ferry is even closer. My husband and I, as well as our dog, totally enjoyed our stay!
