This is an architecually lovely house with tall trussed beam ceilings in every room, wood paneling, a huge woodburning fireplace (very nice for our fall vacation) in the living room and views of the lake and the extensive and largely wooded grounds.roperty onto Newfound Lake
This spacious house is in an ideal location on pristine Newfound Lake, near the north end in a relatively quiet cove and a short 15 minute drive from markets and restaurants in Plymouth. There is a boat dock and lawn chairs, a small rowboat, canoe, and paddleboard are provided. Beds are comfortable and there are ample towels and linens for a family. A screened porch is great for games and socializing. This is a great option for a family lake vacation.
This was a good friends trip. We first talked about an England trip, then a cruise, but we finally settled on a lake trip. We found the perfect lake with the perfect waterfront access we wanted...and needed. Every morning we sat on the perfect dock with our coffee gazing out at Loon Island and the gorgeous trees and hills. Afternoons were spent playing croquet. Evenings cooking and playing card games. The home had a cozy cabin feel. We found out it was built in 1957 and it did show some wear but the feel was just what we were looking for. We loved it and have already talked about our return.
We absolutely loved our time on Newfound Lake! The home was cozy, welcoming, clean, and perfectly situated. The location on the northern end of the lake next to the Audubon Center was ideal. The property has a a lovely screened patio, a pleasant back porch, and a wonderful stone patio down by water's edge. On a calm day, the area near the shore makes for a lovely swim or paddle. There is a cute little house on an island right across from the property, and we enjoyed the ambiance of that. On the 4th of July, we also appreciated being able to see the fireworks without leaving the dock! Perfect...! Our hosts were responsive, kind, and helpful. Thank you for a perfect stay!
We have friends who live on Newfound Lake and so have visited many times but this was the first time renting our own place with our kids in tow. This is a very unique location being the last house at the end of a long road/driveway, so it's very private, and it has it's own lake access with a large dock. The house is a wonderful classic lake home that has been well kept and is very clean. Large living area, good bedrooms, excellent screened in porch which is a must in NH in the summer. We used the paddleboard and our kids liked the water toys. There is a small sandy area for kids to play down near the water too. The kitchen is small though functional. The location of the house was perfect for us as it was close to our friends' place. Great communication ahead of time, easy check in, am happy we stayed here!
Place is nice and spacious. Bigger than the photos make it look, in my opinion, which was great. Dock area and included boats were a nice touch. Very deep on the end of the dock, great for swimming but the beach area was perfect for our younger kids to walk in.We felt lucky this place was available and would rent again.
My family stayed here for a long weekend right when the leaves were changing. Two adults and three children ages 3 - 6.
This is a beautiful lake house. Very clean. Fantastic large living room with fireplace that was a great place to get together with other family in the area. We also enjoyed the large screened in porch. The lake is right down a short path with a nice stone patio and floating dock. Toys and games were also available for our kids, which was an added bonus. We had fun with the croquet game!
It is so quiet there and close to town. We had rainy drizzly weather most of the week so we spent a lot of time indoors and didn’t feel cramped at all.
Even though the home was rustic it was clean and very comfortable. The location was superb. The house has a screened in porch where we ate most of our meals. The rear deck and doc were perfect for relaxing. Plenty of wonderful hikes nearby. Would love to come back.
We had an amazing time on our 5 day stay at this wonderful lakefront property! Alan and Diane were easy to communicate with and were flexible with some of our needs. The house is spacious with plenty of beds and even a cot and blow up beds were available. The kitchen is well stocked and having bed linens and towels included made our packing easier. We spent most of our time by the water on a spacious granite/stone deck and two floating docks. Both shallow water entry on one side and deep water at the end of the docks was perfect. We used the canoe and paddle board provided. Loved having the Audubon hiking trails right next to the property. Thank you Alan and Diane for sharing your amazing lake home with us!
Newfound is such a beautiful, clean lake and this house is the perfect location with it’s own dock, sheltered swimming area and privacy all around from the wooded preserve. The house is rustic, but very spacious and well stocked . The owner is nice and very helpful.
This beautiful property is set on 3+ scenic lakefront acres at the end of a short, dead end dirt road offering fantastic privacy. The house is a classic lakefront property (just painted!) and is quite large for a single story, with three good sized, comfortable bedrooms, beautiful fireplaced living room, knotty pine walls, and vaulted beamed ceilings. The kitchen is older but very functional and has just about everything you could need. There is also a very large screened porch with nice lake views where we all spent quite a bit of time.
Our little group (four adults and three small children aged 1, 3, and 5) loved the waterfront area with a small beach and two docks (great for swimming, fishing, relaxing, and reading). The waterfront area starts about 75 feet from the house down a small hill with a gravel path. At the shoreline, the water is about 1 foot deep with sandy footing that was an easy walk-in down stone steps for our 3 and 5 year old. We used the canoe and paddleboard at the property almost every day. Although the property is quite private, just about everything you may need on a vacation is available within a 10 minute drive from the property.
Before and during our stay, we had a couple of questions for Alan and Diane and they were incredibly responsive helping to make our entire vacation experience exactly what we needed: happy and restful. We cannot wait to return next year!
We stayed at this amazing property for two short nights to visit our kids who were at a local camp. The owners were kind enough to just rent for the two nights and not the usual week. This house is situated right on the gorgeous cold, crisp lake which was so refreshing after a long hike in a hot day. The owners have every amenity… including a table and chairs already down at the dock so you can enjoy evening cocktails or morning coffee without having to lug anything other than you drink! They also had a canoe and SUP as wel as floated for our use! The house is amazing and very private! The only neighbors to be seen are the occupants of tiny little Loon Island directly across from the dock. Hope we can visit again and stay for a full week!
PS - prior communication and communication on our checkin day were top notch and timely! Effortless check in and out! Thanks again!
We have stayed in rentals throughout the US and Mexico. This property is by far the most amazing. Seconded by a kayaker going by who said "you have the best location on the lake". We fell in love with the beautiful "cabin" as we called it. It was so quiet and comfortable. Plenty of room for our family to cook, eat, play, fish, or just relax. Plenty of spaces indoors and out to accommodate anyone. This amazing vacation was topped off by a bald eagle landing in the tall tree on the island. Highly recommended!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alan and Diane's rustic home on Newfound Lake! The views of the lake from every room are just wonderful and it was so quiet and peaceful! We so enjoy ed sitting on the dock and relaxing! I especially enjoyed getting up early and snapping photos while watching the mist rise from the lake! We also loved in the screened in sun portch! The house had everything we could want, the bed was so comfortable and Newfound Lake is just beautiful! We hiked at the next door at the Audobon Center and at the Grey Rocks Conservation Area just down the street. We also went apple picking at Mt. Cardigan Orchard (what a scenic spot!) and had a delicious breakfast at Benton's Sugar Shack in Thornton (about 30 mins away)! Thank you Alan and Diane for such a nice, relaxing. long Fall weekend!
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful house. The lake really is the highlight of the place. You get views from almost every room. It's just beautiful to wake up to that view. The sunroom is also just a wonderful place to sit and relax. One of the days we were there it rained but it was lovely to just sit and watch the rain.
The house is well appointed and the owners have been thoughtful to leave all the comforts you could need for your stay. We had a fantastic, relaxing anniversary trip.
Prior reviews detail all the wonderful amenities of this spectacular family vacation home.
Words are inadequate to describe the peaceful energy, surrounding nature and innumerable opportunities for readers, writers, dreamers, artists, naturalists, water enthusiasts. Thank you, Diane and Alan, for sharing your Newfound Lake Legacy.
We loved our days on the lake. We spent time on the dock and canoe, paddle board in the sun, and on the trails when it was cool, and inside cozy by the fire when it rained. The recreation equipment, water toys, and games made it heaven for our 4 kids!
Thank you so much!
Our second - and hopefully not our last - visit to this wonderful property. Spacious, comfortable accommodations, nicely equipped kitchen, beautiful setting on one of the finest lakes in New Hampshire. Hosts are fantastic, communication superlative. Our favorite VRBO experience!
Between Father's Day and a few other recent celebrations, our family needed a quick getaway and this house was the perfect fit. The location is truly one of a kind! The pictures are accurate - there are some parts of the home that are more "campy", but it doesn't detract from overall comfort or experience. It's a quintessential NH Lakes experience. Two pieces of feedback for the owners... (1) the gas grill is clean and functional, but seems like it may need to be replaced soon. (2) The home has wifi, but the signal is sort of weak. We had better luck connecting with our personal devices rather than their SmartTV (but also, who needs devices when you're at the lake!).
Rustic house on the quiet end of Newfound Lake. Huge living room and good size screened in porch. Very private and peaceful location. Views were good especially from the dock area. Only problem was the WiFi. I have T-Mobile and had no service the entire stay. My sister in law had Verizon and she had no issues. Diane and Allen were awesome and replied right back to me in a timely fashion. Special weekend here. Thank you!
This lake side house offers all the comforts of a well furnished home in a lovely wooded glade. Adjacent to a large nature preserve with walking trails, this is a great location for appreciating fresh air and the beauty of a mature forest of hardwoods and pine. The lake is down a short path from the house and offers a large dock, swim deck, and gradual sand and gravel beach - perfect for launching and landing our kayaks. The house has a large deck overlooking the water, screened sun room, and big living area with a fireplace. Lots more to like about this house, including the oh so comfortable king size beds. We had a great fall vacation here.
This was such a great vacation. Many thanks to Alan and Diane for allowing us to use your home on Newfound Lake. The home was lovely. Some may say outdated, but I thought it was quaint, homey, and had character. The setting is really outstanding. It's very private without neighbors nearby... except for the charming home on the little island out on the lake, but nobody was there so again, it was very private. We didn't have any luck fishing but the hiking and surrounding area was perfect. We took a walk over at the preserve next door and didn't see anyone on the path so we had that all to ourselves too. We also enjoyed a game of badminton which I haven't played since I was in grade school. We were here in mid Oct which made it a bit chilly and not great or swimming, but the amazing fall foliage made up for that.
Alan and Diane were very responsive to any messages and so helpful and friendly. I would love to come back and visit in the summer sometime. Thank you both for such a pleasant stay!
