Overview

About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

This spectacular contemporary overlooks a lovely sandy beach on the Great Peconic Bay. The house is situated on three tranquil wooded acres with over 200' of beachfront. The walls facing the beach are all glass, the floor plan is open, and everywhere the views are amazing.

The house is built on five half levels, all designed to make the most of the view.  At the very top is the Master Bedroom with a king bed and a private deck overlooking the bay. Down a short flight of stairs is the Master Bathroom with Jacuzzi tub/shower combination.

Around the corner is an generous seating area with a new 42' flat screen TV, plus a breathtaking view of the bay.

Walk down some wide carpeted (suitable for sitting on) steps to the main level with an open floor plan. The spacious living room area with gas fireplace is open to the kitchen and dining area, and they all open onto a huge deck overlooking the beach.  New sectional furniture makes the most of the view, winter and summer.

One more short flight of steps down brings you to ground level where there is a guest room with its own private bath, plus a full bath off the hall.

Three more small bedrooms and a utility room (with washer and dryer) share the lowest level. The first bedroom has a queen bed, the blue room has two twin beds and the yellow room has one full-size bed. All the rooms have been freshly painted and new carpeting was installed last summer.

Cooks love our kitchen! Small and efficient, it contains a refrigerator, 5 burner gas oven, a microwave and disposal and dishwasher.  Stand at the sink and you look across the dining room table through the sliding glass doors to the deck and the beach and the bay.

The large deck is accessible thru any of the sliding glass doors facing the bay. Spacious with plenty of seating, the deck has a roll-out awning for shade. There is a large gas grill to the side of the deck that can be used year round. A lower level has a table that comfortably seats six and can handle 8-10 people.

The heat is forced hot air so becomes comfortable in minutes, and there is also central air conditioning although with the sea breezes you rarely need it.  The cozy gas fireplace in the living room keeps the living area comfortable and is all the heat you need during the fall and spring.

There is NO SMOKING permitted in the main house.  Without written permission, pets are not permitted in the main house.

NOTES: Rentals begin at 4:00 pm and end at 11:00 am. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure a rental with the balance due 60 days ahead of the arrival date. We ask for a credit card on file for a $500 refundable security deposit.

Why The Owner chose Laurel

This property has been in my family for over ninety years. I spent summers here as a child, and have been fortunate enough to allow my five children to enjoy summers at the beach here as well. Now they're 24 to 34 and it's harder to assemble everyone, and harder for me to take time off from running my luxury Bed & Breakfast in Hanover, NH. We hope you enjoy our lovely beachfront home as much as we do. A peaceful, private and spectacular place to enjoy a weekend or extended rental with family and friends!

Therapeutic Thanksgiving by the Bay

  • 5 of 5

Spending the Thanksgiving holiday at this perfectly located beachfront home was one of the best decisions I ever made. The serenity of the environs was simply lovely and therapeutic.

My father and step- mother came from Chicago and my sister came from Houston to join me, my husband and twin four-year-olds for the holiday, and we all had a most wonderful, memorable time. Watching the sun "wake up" (my kids are early risers) was magical; wearing sunglasses while making and eating breakfast (the sun fills the room all day) was oddly welcome; building castles and walking on the beach in our pajamas and coats was idyllic; and playing games by the fireplace was fun and relaxing.

We had everything we needed to make us feel comfortable and at home. We all had our own bedrooms and bathrooms, so privacy and comfort was guaranteed. My kids, husband and I settled in the lower-level bedrooms to spare my sister and our parents from our very early morning rituals.

While the layout worked perfectly for us, the many stairs and layers might be challenging for the elderly, infirm, and toddlers. (My preschoolers, however, loved the many hiding places, improvised launch pads, and expansive playing "fields"....) And the top bedroom quickly became the warmest place in the house, which is to be expected because heat rises. But having separate heating units for the lower and upper parts of the house made it easy to cater to everybody's individual preferences.

Meredith was always promptly and thoroughly responsive, even while tending to her newborn baby, who was just two weeks old at the time!

There were plenty of activities to keep us busy inside the house, outside the house, and around the North Fork. The seating area by the television was admittedly tight and uncomfortable. But with everything else we could do, we shouldn't have been watching television anyway!

We loved it so much that we extended one more night after my parents and sister left! Location, space, activities, price.... A winning combination.

beautiful view

  • 2 of 5

This house has the most amazing view, which is great because you do not want to spend so much time inside. The furniture is not very comfortable at all, the tv is in a place where hardly anyone can watch and all bathrooms are in bad need of a makeover. One of the bedrooms had a ceiling falling down and the carpets need some TLC. Let me know when the house is cleaned up because we will be back. Great area with so much to do!

One of the best homes I've ever rented!

  • 5 of 5

I live in NYC and like to get away for the weekend as often as possible with friends. I often look for homes to rent out in the summer and this location was excellent. I rented the house for a birthday getaway for 12 people and it was an absolute success.

The house comfortably fit everyone in my group. We spent our days grilling, paddle boarding, kayaking, laying out, and of course visiting the nearby wineries. I definitely recommend this house and will certainly be looking to come back soon!

Perfect NYC Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we requested to book, Meredith was available to answer all of our questions in a prompt manner. We booked the house for a long weekend and Meredith was very accommodating with both early check-in and late check-out. She was such a pleasure to work with!! It was very easy to order groceries from Peapod and wine from Vintage Mattituck, all of which was delivered directly to our door upon our arrival.

The house was spacious and comfortable; it fit our group of 10 perfectly! The house is directly on the beach, which was very convenient for those who wanted to sun bathe and kayak.

We had such a great trip and will definitely be back again!!!

A great find on the bay!

  • 5 of 5

I booked this house for my 50th birthday celebration weekend with friends. It's right on Peconic bay, across the bay from where I grew up. The beach isn't huge but there's plenty of area to lounge, whether on/near the water or on the large decks of the house. Inside has a great layout for a large group to hang out. Very bright and sunny. The owner is great, very communicative. I'd love to book this for a week in the summer. We shall see!
