Guests LOVE our home: Testimonial- "One of the most truly relaxing vacations we've ever had. Every year my 2 sisters, brother and spouses take a fall vacation. I found this great house to accommodate all our needs. I contacted the owner and the rest is history. Joe was great. He was willing to rent to us on such short notice. We spoke several times and emailed almost daily. When we arrived Joe was there to meet all of us! The house was most inviting and comfortable. I loved that there were several rooms that you could go to to have your space. Plenty of room for everyone. Whether the ladies were in the huge dining room having coffee or the men were watching tv. We all felt right at home. The house was most inviting and comfortable. Can't wait to go back!!"

The Lee Outlets are approximately 12 miles offering major stores including Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, Coach, Cole Hahn, Gap, Calvin Klein, etc. Specialty shops can be found in West Stockbridge, Lenox, Stockbridge, Great Barrington, Pittsfield and Williamstown.

Testimonial-"Never had to leave the house. Their were so many distinct rooms that whomever I talked to felt as if we had the whole house to ourselves. Plenty of different places to relax and eat. Beautiful gardens in both front and back. We have been renting homes in many different areas with our family now, for over 15 years, and this house felt the most like home than anywhere else we've stayed. The home is not available most time of the year but whatever season we want to get away, we'll always check to see if this house is available."

About Joseph Corcoran

Karen and I are quiet and creative. We are theater professionals who produce internationally. We love visual and performance art. We enjoy the cultural vibrancy and community consciousness of the Berkshires. We love welcoming guests to our large, beautiful, comfortable and centrally located Berkshire home. After spending 25 years in an urban environment we embrace and are enthusiastic to share the best of what the Berkshires has to offer. We enjoy daily hikes with our dogs and skiing with our kids at Butternut. We spend our summer nights at Tanglewood listening to the Boston Symphony Orchestra. We enjoy nearby Cranwell and Kripalu spa services. But Jacobs Pillow and MASSMoCA are nothing short of bliss. We also love the Berkshire International Film Festival. We can see films in Great Barrington in the morning, head home to check on our pet, then head off to the afternoon showings in Pittsfield. We hope you enjoy all of the culture and peace of the region. We look forward to being part of your wonderful Berkshire experience.

Joseph Corcoran purchased this house in 2002

Why Joseph Corcoran chose Richmond

The porch! The porch! The porch! And proximity to Tanglewood makes going to a concert easy without the Lenox and Stockbridge traffic! We bought this country home as a weekend house to enjoy our family and friends in 2002. We loved the area so much we moved our family from NYC, in 2007, to live in a painting all year round. Now our children are launched and we have the traveling bug. But no matter where we may venture into the world we take a deep breath when the Berkshire Hills appear. Upon entering our home, we always remark, "Wow! It is really beautiful here." This is an ideal location whether hunkering down to cook, read, or laugh with your fellow adventurers or to enjoy the outdoor sports year round. We are set back from the street but right on a bike trail, close to skiing, snowshoeing and hiking. Our street is always plowed and accessible. There are many spaces to gather as a group, and private spaces to be alone to read. We have 4 full bathrooms conveniently located around the house. Richmond is by far the most rural and central place to make home when you venture between MASSMoCA in North Adams and The Pillow in Beckett. You won't find a more central location. We are next to Lenox and 5 minutes from Tanglewood, Kripalu Yoga Center, West Stockbridge, 10 minutes to Stockbridge and 20 minutes to Great Barrington.

Our house in the Berkshires is set up like a home with great knives, cookware, and turbo speed internet. We have a collection of local artists.

Most spaces will be cleared of any personal belongings save for minimum space used for storage in a closet or dresser. Anything left behind in general is strictly to add charm and support our guests needs. We are sharing our home keeping in mind what we like to book when we travel. We travel often and live between NYC and the Berkshires. We hope you enjoy catching up with your family and friends around one of the two outdoor campfires roasting marshmallows or inside next one of our 2 fireplaces.

What makes this house unique

Location, charm, accessibility to restaurants, shopping, movies, art, music and high speed turbo internet. Our home has a huge and gorgeous screened porch. The porch is wonderful for entertaining before Tanglewood and set up for dining or hanging. We are blessed with a variety of local birds in the daytime and at night you will want to get out the shaker glass and whip up something delicious surrounded by hip lighting. Each room has its own feel and flows into the next. The linens and beds are of quality and comfort. We have 4 full bathrooms. There is a rich cultural scene with many artists, theater and it's own film festival. The Berkshires remains an unassuming jewel, which is why we love it.

Lovely, spacious house in great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. Great, well equipped kitchen. Huge screen porch. Hosts were extremely welcoming, and got a minor plumbing problem fixed within an hour. Very convenient to Tanglewood, West Stockbridge, and Mass Pike.

Jiminy Peak Ski Trip

  • 5 of 5

Great place and great owner. We rented it for a Jiminy Peak ski trip. Although there were closer places, this place was still close for us (around 30 min) and was just wonderful. Hot tub, fireplace, excellent condition. Owner was very flexible, accommodating and responsive - house was well stocked with extra towels, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. There was also a fire pit and screen porch that we didn't get a chance to use since it was winter, but there was plenty of space for 10 adults. Highly recommend and I'll definitely be back. It probably was one of the nicest places we stayed for a ski trip.

Fabulous Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this wonderful house for our annual family vacation. It was perfect! We spent most of our time on the screened-in porch -- it was a wonderful place for my 15-month-old grandson to safely play, for delightful candle-lit meals and board games on lazy afternoons. The bedrooms allowed plenty of privacy for each family member and the 3rd floor was nice and roomy for the baby and his parents. It's close to Tanglewood, golf and lake swimming -- all of which we enjoyed. And Joe recommended the little french restaurant down the hill -- a great find. We will definitely be back!

Nothing like a Berkshires Christmas

  • 5 of 5

Over a year ago we decided to head home for Christmas. It had been a long time since we'd been back, so it had to be right. I spent 4 months deciding on a place to rent. The first time I talked to Joe on the phone I knew we had chosen the right place.

After a week in his beautiful home, our entire family agreed, {7 adults, 2 kids, & 3 dogs} the place was perfect! The home is spacious, room to gather and room to find your own space. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were. Fires in the fireplaces {ample cut firewood}, and moonlit nights in the jacuzzi w/ the snow coming down were a huge hit. The kitchen was large enough for several cooks, and all of us were able to be seated comfortably around the large dining room table. The piano was a wonderful bonus for our 3 piano players. The large fenced in backyard was great fun for our dogs. That was obvious by how well they slept when they came inside.

Two other things need to be mentioned. Joe, the owner, could not have been more accommodating or friendly. His goal was for us to have a family memory that would last a lifetime. He succeeded. Also, the location was ideal. The house is located in the midst of a beautiful countryside that gives the Berkshires its charm, and yet conveniently located for sightseeing. We skied at Jiminy Peak & Bousquet's, ate at the Red Lion Inn, picked up some fresh cider from Bartlett's, went to a play in Pittsfield, and visited some places of personal interest, all w/in a short distance from "home."

Our love & thanks go to Joe and his wife. We will be back!

Quiet & Private; Yet Close to Everything

  • 5 of 5

5 of us shared the house for the weekend for a mini college reunion; it was exactly as described in the listing and it more than met our expectations.

The home was large enough to give each of us (5 women) our own space (bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.), yet the spaces are cozy enough to invite gatherings and conversation. Mornings we sat in the well-stocked kitchen or in one of the adjacent rooms where we could spread out. We spent one early evening on the screened in porch, another on the rear porch -- enjoying the hot tub!

Although Richmond is remote, which was fine with us, it's literally within minutes of so many other things to do! Families with kids should definitely check out Bash Bish Falls which is on the NY / MA border.

Joe and Karen could not have been more accommodating -- checking in to make sure everything was OK, providing dinner recommendations, etc.

Highly recommend!

Centrally located to take advantage of the best the Berkshires has to offer including restaurants, theaters, performance venues, museums, movie theaters, hiking trails, galleries, boutiques and shopping are all just minutes away. Or never leave the property and entertain your friends and enjoy the many areas of the house which will make you feel like you're the only one home. In the backyard we have a 20 foot stone grotto. It is magnificent to light the candles, and a fire and sit in the rock garden on a summer or fall night. Given the location, and all this house has to offer, it is ideal for family getaways, reunions and a great escape during the peak Berkshire season.

You are welcome to use our kayak or enjoy other local outdoor activities such as golf, tennis, swimming, hiking, bike riding, skiing, and snowmobiling. You can rent kayaks at Arcadia and they will drop off and pick up at the lake of your choice.

Golf: Cranwell in Lenox.

Ski: There are three ski mountains within close driving distance. Bousquet in Pittsfield, is approximately 5 miles, Butternut in Great Barrington is approximately 9 miles and Jiminy Peak in Lanesboro is 19 miles.

Don't miss the chance to sit on the lawn at Tanglewood and listen to the Boston Symphony or a trip to MASSMoCA to see Nick Cave's exhibit and other gorgeous installations and concerts. Then head up to Williamstown for the theater festival and the Clark Museum. If you are going to Jacobs Pillow stop by The Dream Away Lodge before or after for cocktails/dinner. The Pillow has great food and drinks on campus. For theater try Berkshire Theater Festival, Barrington Stage, or Shakespeare and Co.

If you want to have a wonderful dinner nearby try Rouge in West Stockbridge (2 mi), Alta in Lenox ( 6 mi) or Prairie Whale in Great Barrington. In about 30 minutes you could be at The Old Mill in Sheffield or John Andrews. Be sure to stop by The Barn at the Egremont Village Inn for a drink and entertainment.

Antiquing pockets are everywhere. But try Route 7 from Sheffield to Connecticut.
