Twin Creeks Retreat is a cottage-style home perched high in the Plott Balsam Range of the Great Smoky Mountains about 1 mile west of waterrock knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway. THIS IS NOT A EVERYDAY RENTAL, but it is a unique retreat, a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of every day life. There are few places like this that you don't have to hike into and camp to enjoy. Instead of walking, drive up the mountain (Four wheel Drive with adequate clearance is required, due to the varying conditions of the good gravel road) and you will be amazed when you arrive at this hidden oasis exactly a mile high (5280') in the wilderness.
Nestled among the rhododendrons, you'll enter upon the spacious deck, being drawn into the great room with kitchen, dining, and living area. The natural pine paneling gives a cozy warm feeling to accompany the convenient gas log woodstove in the living area. However, you will be immediately attracted to the large sunroom and amazed at the commanding views into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, clear to Mount Leconte in Tennessee.
The House features a fully furnished modern kitchen with dishwasher and microwave oven. The front bedroom offers the view with a queen-size bed; the back bedroom has two twin-size beds.
Day beds in the sunroom offer additional sleeping and are great for kids or guests.

This is the most pristine park like property I found after many years of looking. It is very remote and that is the appeal. It takes a bit of effort to get here, but once you have arrived the stress of everyday life melts away.
Relaxing, going for walks in the woods, THE PHONE DOES NOT RING. Cooking meals with family and friends and the ever changing incredible views.
Spent 5 days here with our 2 year old son. The location is amazing -- two steps and you're in the deep forest. The views from the porch are fantastic, and the peace and quiet are truly unbelievable. The drive up the mountain is not trivial (we drive a small suv) but in daylight, when the weather is good, should not be a problem for an experienced driver. The place is very well equipped and everything was in good condition.
We will try to come back here in the future!
Stayed 6 nights and wish we had stayed longer. The views from the sunroom and back deck were fantastic; we spent most of our time (including every meal) in the sunroom, which has huge windows on 3 sides. We saw a wide variety of birds (including 14 species of warblers, hawks, ravens, orioles and many others); being able to see birds from ABOVE as they flew below us was really neat. Chipmunks and beautiful flowers in yard. The clarity of the stars at night was amazing - great view of the Milky Way, and saw many falling stars and satellites. Even with a new moon, the starlight was so bright that it never seemed fully dark at night. The cabin itself was just the right size, thoughtfully laid out, and uncluttered. Linens/towels were soft and clean, the down comforters were especially nice. I agree with the owner's suggestion to bring all the groceries you will want for your full stay - the one time that we went to Cherokee for supplies, we regretted the time 'missed' at the cabin. One of the most special things about the location was the peace and quiet - almost no signs or sounds of civilization. We found ourselves talking in hushed voices, even though we were all alone. We did not turn on the TV at all during our visit. With Verizon cell service, I could get/send emails/texts (but wished I hadn't), but could not get service for phone calls. I was able to get good radio reception of a public radio station in Tennessee, and listened to that while cooking (if you must keep up with the news). It was also really appreciated that we could bring our dog along. We plan to come back in different seasons - would be lovely in the spring and when the leaves are turning in the fall. Thanks Jim!!
The photos don't do the views justice! They are stunning! The house is wonderfully laid out, very relaxing, and comfortable. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked. The house is surrounded by undeveloped land, so it's very private. As much as my husband and I completely loved the place, I don't think there are words to describe how much our dogs loved it! They had such a great time running through the yard and taking hikes through the surrounding woods. The owners were always very responsive with any questions and were great to work with. We will definitely return any time we're in Cherokee.
The house was so incredibly comfortable...everything that was promised. We brought tons of food, so we could have stayed the whole time without going back down. The Views are divine, and the privacy remarkable. I spent more time outdoors than in, regardless of the weather. The time was too short. The wildflowers and waterfalls available from the driveway were spectacular. It was all I hoped for and more. We cooked out and had a bonfire. Anyone who really wants to get away from "It all" finds paradise here. You can always go back down to reconnect.
My friends enjoyed the tourista shopping, while I enjoyed the natural water features surrounding such.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone who really wants a getaway, especially to really disconnect from city life!!!
my wife and I, spent a long weekend relaxing, sipping wine, hiking and enjoying the views, all from the house. location is great, house is clean and comfortable. highly recommend. the drive up the mountain was fun, I do have four wheel drive and had no issues going up or down.
My family and I stayed in this home for one week. It was the most amazing vacation we have had in many years. The weather was perfect, the temperatures were great and the views were amazing. If you want a relaxing vacation then this place is for you.
