However, we understand that the extreme heat and humidity in the Lowcountry can sometimes strain the system, leading to condensation in certain areas. Lauren, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are disappointed to hear that your stay was anything short of enjoyable. Although pricing is reflective of the quality of the rental (amongst other factors) we would never want any guest to any concern regarding health or safety. We want to stress that all rentals that we manage, that experienced flooding damage/water intrusion from recent hurricanes were properly remediated prior to resuming regular rental procedures. Edisto has a sub-tropical climate with high levels of humidity enhanced by the proximity to the ocean. The effects of high temperatures and extreme levels of humidity that we experience from late-May through September are especially evident in homes that have “ground-level” areas as well as older homes where modern ventilation and humidity curatives weren’t available during the construction process. This particular home has a large number of repeat renters who enjoy many of the features that you listed (i.e. pet friendly, affordable, location/size, well-stocked) while overlooking other aspects as we do not receive a significant number of guest complaints. While we complete weekly cleanings and arrival checks between renters, and annually inspect each property to share inventory and improvement needs with the homeowner(s), we certainly rely on guest feedback to assist us in narrowing down what items to address to ensure an enjoyable and memorable experience as our staff generally does not have the opportunity to physically stay in each rental. Additionally, we include in all our pre-arrival, check-in packet, in-home displays for guests to contact our office with any items that we can promptly address to enhance the vacation experience. As you’ve noted, we are fortunate to have a strong, experienced, and courteous local staff which allows us to successfully deliver same-day service for correcting such items so we encourage you and all guests not to hesitate to reach out should these types of items be encountered during a future stay. We understand that many aspects of a vacation rental home are subjective but ensure you that we take each item that you’ve mentioned seriously and have shared the information with the homeowners. We are happy to report that the homeowners of “Villa K” are currently underway with a large-scale renovation to include decking, additions to the home, painting, HVAC updates, a full bathroom remodel, kitchen enhancements, updates to furniture/furnishings/décor, etc. We will update the photos and marketing information upon the completion of this project in the Spring of 2023.
