Other views include an industrial mix of factories and breweries, such as the French Broad Chocolate Factory, Ginger's Revenge Brewery, and Zilicoah Brewery, to name a few. Take a walk out the door down to the old barrel road next to the wildlife preserve, from where you might spot the noon train. Upon your return, cool off with a drink on the balcony as deer, turkey vultures, and the occasional bear meander through the yard.
The front yard and back yards are connected and mostly fenced (75%) with only the back portion open to the the mountain and wildlife preserve. Both front and backyards have open spaces for everyone, including your dogs, to run and play. In colder weather, warm your toes by the custom-built flagstone patio and fire pit, complete with a built-in stone bench and chairs. Prop your s'mores ingredients, hot cocoa, and other fire pit necessities on the table. There is plenty of parking in the fenced-in driveway.

Just spent a fantastic few days over New Year’s with friends! This home was perfect for us! We rented both levels and enjoyed the flexibility of multiple socializing spaces for late nighters/early risers. The kitchen was well stocked with everything from basics (coffee, spices, etc) to dishes and cookware as were the bathrooms. We took an uber into downtown on NYE, and the drive is very quick. I would love to come thru and stay again during the warmer months as it seems there are so many outdoor and water activities close by. Thanks for an amazing stay!
It was an amazing location convenient to down town. Spectacular views and tons of space. Erin was super helpful and kind. Would 100% recommend staying there any chance you can.
I needed a place that accommodated a large family and this place was great. There was enough room to spread out, but also a large enough space for us all to get together in one room.
The hosts are wonderful. They communicate quickly and clearly to answer questions and provide information. They are thoughtful and even had a Christmas tree set up for us! Since we had to social distance, being close to town allowed us to be near family who live in Asheville. When we wanted to get away, hiking trails were not far. The dogs could play outside in the mostly fenced yard while we sat around the newly built fire pit and shared stories. The house is very well laid out and comfortable. Having a smart TV was a plus. The internet worked very well. Lovely towels and blankets. We never ran out of hot water. There is no dishwasher so next time I will bring more paper cups and plates. In non covid times, location will be even a bigger plus!

Thank you, Connie! We are thrilled you were able to enjoy all aspects of the property, and what we love best about it. Thanks for being lovely guests. Happy new year to you and your family!
Erin was a great host. We’d use this property again in the future. It’s convenient to downtown if you want to explore. Plenty of beds for our large group.
We were at this location for a wedding. Our group included the groom's parents, 5 other family members and two close friends. The venue was close to the rehearsal dinner and wedding. The host let us check in early to get ready for the rehearsal. The place was gorgeous and clean with 3 bathrooms for our large group. Our millennials stayed downstairs & enjoyed the board games the host provided (and the separation allowed the parents to get to sleep at a decent hour). We even had a mama deer & two fawns come in the backyard one morning. Highly recommend this house.
Amazing home tucked away on the mountain. Only minutes from downtown. Amazing!
Property was neat clean and obviously loved. Listing looks better in person than in the photos. Team was amazing.
The property is tucked away in an older mountainside neighborhood just minutes from downtown. Would highly recommend.
We had a great stay! The house is about 10-15 minutes from downtown, so we were easily able to uber. The firepit and patios were great outdoor amenities. Unfortunately, we couldn't find the trail down to the river. The house was very spacious for 10 people and the house owners were accommodating with bringing dogs. I would stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Erin de Rivero
My husband and I are Floridians, and we needed a place to escape the heat! We visited Asheville and fell in love with the amount and variety of activities it has to offer! I am a teacher and my husband a general contractor, and we love everything outdoors.
Why they chose this property
We loved this property because of its quiet mountain home characteristics without being isolated, and its proximity to all things Asheville! We also have dogs and kids and love that the property is diverse and fun to navigate! We live in the quiet residential neighborhood of Richmond Hill situated at the end of a cul-de-sac on the French Broad River, and we have great, friendly neighbors. While there are wide, expansive views of the river, there is no immediate river access. Our view of the river and mountains on the other side is breathtaking at sunrise and sunset. It also captures the unique character of Asheville - a mix of mountain and industry - including the French Broad Chocolate Factory, a few breweries (Ginger's Revenge and Zilicoah), and an industrial supply company, to name a few. At the bottom of our road is the French Broad Outfitters and river access for a variety of activities. Richmond Hill Park is a few minutes drive and a bit longer walk from our house, which boasts trails and a disc golf course. The Omni Grove Park Inn is a 10-minute drive away, and the Biltmore just a bit more at about 12-15 minutes.
What makes this property unique
Almost all of the 1.3 acres is open for walking and exploring! The barrel road is a short but fun trail, especially for young hikers, with view of the French Broad River, its kayakers, and the occasional train that rumbles by! Summertime hosts a pleasantly shaded yard, and the famous fireflies of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
