About Gurukar S Khalsa
My wife and I live an hour north of San Francisco near the coast on a family farm. We have 4 grown children and 2 grandchildren so far (our son and grandson are pictured on the surfboard just off Kamaole Beach across the street from the condo). I am a general contractor and my wife works at our local community clinic. She also grows a variety of fruit which she makes into jam and sells to local stores. We make it down to Kihei 1 to 3 times a year and have had some great family vacations.
Gurukar S Khalsa purchased this Condo in 2003
Why Gurukar S Khalsa chose Kihei
We first visited Maui on our honeymoon in 1974 and have enjoyed going back over the years. When looking to buy a condo we rented a unit in Kihei Akahi and decided it was the best complex for us - with convenient access to a family-friendly beach, beautiful grounds, and walking distance to great restaurants and shopping.

Perfect location with all the basics
Perfect location just across the street from the beach. The unit was well stocked with kitchenware, clean fridge and dishwasher, which made a little cooking easy. Small TV but with a roku and free netflix and good wifi. Good amount of beach towels with in-unit washer and dryer . We were happy to find a beach umbrella, chairs, boogie board, snorkel gear at our disposal. It took a little getting used to how clearly sound traveled into the bedroom from the hallway, since there is no city or traffic noise, any other sound was heard clearly. Overall, it was a great deal with all the basics and the owner & manager were responsive and organized.
Very nice, convenient but a little noisy for us.
Overall good condition. Liked our first vrbo experience. Not use to the closeness and noises of neighbors.
Perfect for our family!
This was a great condo if you are looking for something simple, affordable, and close to the beach! I loved how we had a sunrise view over haleakala and were right in the trees off our lanai. It was also nice that the place had toys for the beach like a cooler, boogie board, snorkel gear, towels and more. I also appreciated that it had a washer and dryer! The place was not well lit at night and it was hard to find it on the first night. The pullout mattress wasn't the most comfortable to sleep on. I couldn't find a wine bottle opener anywhere, that would've come in handy. :) Overall I would highly recommend this place!
Great location and beautifully decorated condo. Close to beach, restaurants and shopping.
Relaxing atmosphere in the condo and tropical park like landscaping made for a pleasant vacation. Love the sound of the birds.
a nice inroduction
This was the first time we had used a service like this where you are renting a unit from an owner. We were a bit nervous at first about sending money to someone we didn't know, but the owner was very good to us especially since we weren't able to get the money to him in the required 30 days previous to arrival. The unit itself was clean, and well outfitted, loved the stove, A/C a definite plus. Walkways to the doors could use some lighting.
We will definitely use VRBO again
Unit not well stocked
This unit was clean and nicely updated, but it was not well stocked with even the basics needed for a week's stay. There were only 2 beach towels, 4 bath towels, no bath mat, and no linens at all for the pull-out sofa in the living room. Because we needed to use the pull-out sofa, this required a call to the rental agent to have the sheets delivered. There were also not enough paper towels, toilet paper, or garbage bags.
It was also strange that the windows in the bedroom could not be opened, which made for some uncomfortable sleeping in that room.
Kihei Akahi is ideally situated across the street from Kamaole Beach Park II and near restaurants and shopping in south Kihei. The complex is located on the edge of the commercial zone, so it is very convenient to walk to restaurants and shopping yet the condo is usually quiet and private. Kamaole Beach Park II is one of three beach parks in south Kihei that are all connected with walking paths perfect for a morning or sunset stroll. Each of these beaches offer soft white sand, gentle waves for swimming or boogie boarding, and small reefs at each end for snorkeling.
