About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6 to 8)

“The Bear’s Den” is located 90 minutes north of Atlanta and 8 miles north of Blue Ridge in Morganton, GA. Nestled in the woods, this secluded mountain retreat offers beautiful views of the Appalachian foothills. Our log cabin, built in 2007, is on approximately 4 acres. Start your morning with coffee and a cool mountain breeze in a rocking chair on the screened porch or wrap around deck. At dusk, watch the sun set behind the mountains from the swings on the patio or count the stars while roasting s’mores around the fire pit.

True to its name “The Bear’s Den” is a great retreat to the mountains and lake with all the comforts of home. Entering on the open main level, you find a cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace (great for a romantic evening), a dining area, and fully equipped kitchen. The barrel bar separating the kitchen and living area creates an ideal spot to sit, chat, and snack on appetizers while someone prepares a hearty meal. There is Wi-Fi throughout. Around the table, at the bar, or on the sofa, we are certain even Goldilocks can find the perfect seat. When ready to test the beds, the main level includes a bedroom with a queen size bed and bath.

Going upstairs you will find a great loft to hibernate with a book or daydream while staring out the windows at the mountain views. While in search of the perfect bed, you may try out the upstairs bedroom with its king size bed and bath.

The basement level adorns a bedroom with 2 twin beds and 1 queen bed to make a family sleeping room or bunk room for the little bears to choose from, a bathroom with rain heads in the shower, and doors to a private patio. You may find this suite to be “just right”! If you don’t want to leave the “Den” on a rainy day or when the Big Game is on, the Media Room with theater seating provides big screen entertainment in reclining leather theater style seats, swivel rockers, or sofa. With a variety of DVD’s, board games, and air hockey to entertain the active cub in all of us, rainy days are not so gloomy.

“The Bear’s Den” is close to historic downtown Blue Ridge, Lake Blue Ridge and the Toccoa River. You can go kayaking, rafting, or canoeing on the river; ski and fish in the lake; ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad, go horseback riding, visit Kid’s Fun World, Bert’s Pumpkin Farm, Merciers Apple Orchard, or the Swan Drive in Movie Theatre. There are also local golf courses in the area for your enjoyment

Whether you want a romantic weekend getaway, a family vacation, or a long weekend with friends, “The Bear’s Den” will provide a great secluded mountain retreat.

About The Owner

We love the N. Georgia Mountains and have always had a place here. As our family matured we found ourselves relocating all over the US (New York, Colorado, South Carolina). This is our family meeting place. We love the secluded nature of our home as it serves as a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the various cities in which we now live. We love the town, the lake is great for boating and swimming, and the river rafting is the best. We hope that you enjoy our home as much as we do.

Why The Owner chose Morganton

If you want to stay in a cabin and not feel like you are in someone's home THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. This is our home and you can tell that it is our home. The feel is like home and it is stocked like our home would be stocked and not bare. We hope if you choose our home you will treat it as our home and not just a cabin in the woods.

What makes this cabin unique

I love the secluded nature of our home. It allows for very peaceful times whether reading a book or having coffee on the porch in the morning. The fire pit seems to be a great gathering place for the family at night and we are far enough away from others that we don't bother them.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time. Our family could not have been more pleased with

the cabin. Very beautifully decorated and all the details in the wood work

were amazing. There was ice cream in the freezer when we got there so we

left it. The family tv room was so much fun for us to unwind and just be

The rode was bad but we made it up there fine. We left all the toilet paper

we bought. We kept forgetting to buy it. So when it finally made it to the

cabin it was only right to leave it there😜. That would be my only

recommendation, to leave a couple of rolls. We just kept forgetting it.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us

Snowy Weekend In Georgia

  • 4 of 5

Our weekend to visit the Bear's Den just happened to be the weekend of the Dec. 2017 snow storm! And just like can happen in any bad weather situation, we experienced the worst - no power or water!

However, we made the best of it and had a great time. The woodpile outside had plenty of wood for us to burn in the fireplace (thank you Mr. H for that); we went to Home Depot and bought some votive candles, a few extra flashlights, and jugs of water to flush the toilets. No problem! The living space was comfortable, the beds were comfortable, and a fire kept us warm.

Saturday, we spent the day out and about in downtown Blue Ridge (yes, some shops and restaurants were open) and visited the new Bear Claw Vineyards (a "must do"). And because BR has an abundance of restaurants, we didn't go hungry. (lol)

Would I go back to the Bear's Den? Absolutely!

Yearly trip to take the Grammys to the mountains

  • 5 of 5

Really nice home with all the mountain trimmings you are looking for. The Wi Fi was deemed acceptable by my son, so there are no complaints there. The wrap around porch (including the screened back porch) is great. The grill was all gassed up and firewood was provided for the fire place and pit. This home was as clean as you will find and the owner answered his phone when we called. I can see the one short section of the road being a challenge for some folks, but the Morganton location is a great starting point to visit the GA Mountain fair, Vogel Park and Blue Ridge, just to name a few. Bring a bar of soap for the showers and you'll have a great time!

Excellent, quiet and peaceful stay!

  • 5 of 5

Great view, great location (near Blairsville, Blue Ridge and areas for mountain exploration) extremely comfortable and very well equipped. We had a great stay, and the house DOES have Wi-Fi! Don't let old notifications scare you off. Beds, bathrooms, media room - all great. The only negative is the road to the cabin. It can scare off first timers because of the condition of the gravel roads and the slightly steep grade. However, if you just take your time, after doing it once - it becomes simple. Excellent, quiet and peaceful stay!
