About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6 to 8)

“The Bear’s Den” is located 90 minutes north of Atlanta in Morganton, GA. Nestled in the woods, this secluded mountain retreat offers beautiful views of the Appalachian foothills. Our log cabin, built in 2007, is on approximately 4 acres with hiking and ATV trails on the property. Start your morning with coffee and a cool mountain breeze in a rocking chair on the screened porch or wrap around deck. At dusk, watch the sun set behind the mountains from the swings on the patio or count the stars while roasting s’mores around the fire pit.

True to its name “The Bear’s Den” is a great retreat to the mountains and lake with all the comforts of home. Entering on the open main level, you find a cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace (great for a romantic evening), a dining area, and fully equipped kitchen. The barrel bar separating the kitchen and living area creates an ideal spot to sit, chat, and snack on appetizers while someone prepares a hearty meal. Around the table, at the bar, or on the sofa, we are certain even Goldilocks can find the perfect seat. When ready to test the beds, the main level includes a bedroom with a queen size bed and bath.

Going upstairs you will find a great loft to hibernate with a book or daydream while staring out the windows at the mountain views. While in search of the perfect bed, you may try out the upstairs bedroom with its king size bed and bath.

The basement level adorns a bedroom with 2 twin beds and 1 queen bed to make a family sleeping room or bunk room for the little bears to choose from, a bathroom with rain heads in the shower, and doors to a private patio. You may find this suite to be “just right”! If you don’t want to leave the “Den” on a rainy day or when the Big Game is on, the Media Room with theater seating provides big screen entertainment in reclining leather theater style seats, swivel rockers, or sofa. With a variety of DVD’s, board games, and air hockey to entertain the active cub in all of us, rainy days are not so gloomy.

“The Bear’s Den” is close to historic downtown Blue Ridge, Lake Blue Ridge and the Toccoa River. You can go kayaking, rafting, or canoeing on the river; ski and fish in the lake; ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad, go horseback riding, visit Kid’s Fun World, Bert’s Pumpkin Farm, Merciers Apple Orchard, or the Swan Drive in Movie Theatre. There are also local golf courses in the area for your enjoyment

Whether you want a romantic weekend getaway, a family vacation, or a long weekend with friends, “The Bear’s Den” will provide a great secluded mountain retreat.

About The Owner

We love the N. Georgia Mountains and have always had a place here. As our family matured we found ourselves relocating all over the US (New York, Colorado, South Carolina). This is our family meeting place. We love the secluded nature of our home as it serves as a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the various cities in which we now live. We love the town, the lake is great for boating and swimming, and the river rafting is the best. We hope that you enjoy our home as much as we do.

Why The Owner chose Northwest High Country

If you want to stay in a cabin and not feel like you are in someone's home THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. This is our home and you can tell that it is our home. The feel is like home and it is stocked like our home would be stocked and not bare. We hope if you choose our home you will treat it as our home and not just a cabin in the woods.

What makes this cabin unique

I love the secluded nature of our home. It allows for very peaceful times whether reading a book or having coffee on the porch in the morning. The fire pit seems to be a great gathering place for the family at night and we are far enough away from others that we don't bother them.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time. Our family could not have been more pleased with

the cabin. Very beautifully decorated and all the details in the wood work

were amazing. There was ice cream in the freezer when we got there so we

left it. The family tv room was so much fun for us to unwind and just be

The rode was bad but we made it up there fine. We left all the toilet paper

we bought. We kept forgetting to buy it. So when it finally made it to the

cabin it was only right to leave it there😜. That would be my only

recommendation, to leave a couple of rolls. We just kept forgetting it.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us

A wonderful stay at the Bears Den!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying there in a true mountain cabin that was really nice inside and had everything we needed. The cabin was clean and provided a really nice kitchen, comfortable living area, and the most comfortable bed to sleep in. We chose to sleep in the master suite upstairs, and we were surprised with the comfort how it was decorated with the Bear's Den feel - and nice couch to sit on and relax on upstairs overlooking the main living area down below. All the bathrooms were clean and the water was hot as needed for our showers.

Since it was just two of us, we didn't need to use the numerous beds available throughout the place, with another master on the main level and another bedroom in the nicely furnished basement down below.

Laundry area was nice and clean and the media room was really a neat setup, that we didn't have time to use as we were outside in the mountains the whole time.

We would return to the Bears Den for sure, on our next mountain trip, as plenty of firewood was provided and stacked right outside. There was the peace and the quiet sounds of the wooded mountains outside - just a nice getaway. The owner was kind and answered any questions we had, just a phone call away.

Awesome place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this home is great. The only thing that I would have changed about my stay would be to make my stay there longer. It is decorated very nice with beautiful pottery (I would love to know where the owner got it). The beds were comfortable and having a bedroom on each floor made it nice for those who wanted to stay up late or get up early not to disturb those that wanted to sleep longer than others. The media room was great. Everyone made it a point to sit down and watch a movie together. The road that leads up to the cabin, is a gravel road and we traveled in a Ford Fusion with no problems. I see how it could be rough with a lot of rain, but still driveable in a car. The yard and area surrounding the cabin is beautiful. We enjoyed a fire inside but did not have the time to try the outside fire pit. Maybe next time! We cooked a couple of meals there and had every kind of pan/pot/utensil that we needed. The kitchen is stocked very well, which made it even better. I had to call the owner while I was there and he was super friendly and didnt make me feel like I was imposing on him by calling him.

I will definitely book here again.

Very cozy in a quiet location.

Celebrated new years with 2 other couples, had a great time. The cabin is in a quiet location but not too far from downtown Blue Ridge and local grocery stores. Very clean with well stocked kitchen. Highly recommended.

Beautiful Secluded Property

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay @ this quaint mountain cabin. It is very secluded, but only a short drive from downtown Blue Ridge. It requires a sturdy SUV to navigate the dirt roads leading up to it. The cabin is decorated in lovely Mountain decor. It was clean and well maintained. There is a bedroom/bathroom on each floor, which made it easy for our older guest with limited mobility. There was plenty of firewood for us to have a campfire out back in their fire pit. The satellite tv allowed us to watch our favorite SEC college football game and this cabin has good internet, too. The kitchen was well stocked with every possible dish or utensil you could want. This cabin has a large front porch with several rockers. Plus a large screened porch across the back, complete with comfortable chairs to enjoy the mountain view. I would be careful to recommend this cabin to families with older children. (too many stairs for toddlers) We have traveled to the North Georgia Mountains each Fall for 15 yrs. Overall, this is one of the better cabins we have rented in this area.

Outstanding location and scenery.

  • 5 of 5

Had a guys reunion trip for a group of us that haven't all hung together since about 10 years ago. Great scenery, within driving distance of town and stores, and rural location. Couldn't have asked for a better place to be and hang out with friends and to watch the UGA game. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
