Lovely apartment, but some things you need to know
This is a very lovely, large, sun-drenched apartment. However, the listing does not accurately portray the amenities.
* You must walk through one bedroom to get to the other bedroom. Fine for parents and children, but problematic for just about everyone else.
* There is no shower, only a bath with a hand-held shower attachment. Because of this, I would not recommend the apartment for anyone elderly, pregnant, or who has trouble sitting down or standing up in a tub.
* The apartment is not air conditioned (the listing, when I rented, indicated that it is). Rather, there are two portable air conditioning units that require the windows to be open for ventilation; this means they are not terribly useful. Aix-en-Provence is extremely hot in the summer. We ended up spending most of the time (including meals) in one of the bedrooms, where we had both air conditioners going.
* There is no dishwasher (when I rented, the listing indicated one. The proprietor indicated that he would correct the listing).
* Finally, the host was not good at communicating. I never received instructions on how to enter the apartment. I did (unsolicited) send my approximate arrival time, and a property manager was there to greet me. However, I had no indication in advance that this would be the case. Further, the stove would not light, and I received no reply to an inquiry about it.
Bottom line: Nice apartment with limitations, probably best for spring or fall.
