Step into history at Tesla’s Cottage, built in 1899, Nikola Tesla attended social gatherings here. Featuring a spacious native wildflower garden and sustainable xeriscaping, Tesla's Cottage is centrally located in the heart of Colorado Springs. We are conveniently positioned between the Midland and Shook's Run trails, 20 minutes from the COS Airport and less than 10 minutes from the Garden of the Gods, the Manitou Incline, and Tesla's laboratory in Memorial Park (where the famous coil photo was taken). The cottage is also only a 10-minute walk from both Downtown and Old Colorado City, with award-winning local spots like Cerberus (0.1 mi) and 503W (0.3 mi) right at your doorstep.
The property stands out with a spacious yard featuring professional xeriscaping and a garden exclusively of native Colorado wildflowers. Guests describe the evening atmosphere as "magical," especially when enjoyed around the fire ring or from the private hot tub. This fully renovated guesthouse features a new 55” 4K Roku Smart TV equipped with a premium streaming suite (HBO Max, Peacock, Paramount+, among others) for a cinematic night in after hiking or enjoying the Garden of the Gods. The layout includes a Queen-size bed, a well-equipped kitchenette, and an outdoor grill.
There are airport shuttles (Groome & SuperShuttle) available to and from both the Colorado Springs and the Denver airports. There are vans (Rocky Mtn Ride) that regularly transport to ski resorts, and a Casino Shuttle Bus that goes to Cripple Creek (the mountain gambling town). When this property was built in 1899, the main building included a dance floor on the second level. Nikola Tesla attended parties and dances here, and some guests have suggested his presence can be felt late-at-night in the yard.

This was perfect for a long weekend to visit CO Springs! It was a bit smaller than I anticipated but perfect for me and my boyfriend. It was a great location so we were never more than 5-10 minutes from everything we wanted to do in CO springs. Thanks for the great communication, tips on what to do, and awesome place! We especially loved sitting by the fire each night.
This was the perfect little place for our short stay. The place was clean and very cute! We loved getting to hang out by the fire in the evenings. This cottage is in the perfect location with many things to do close by! It was very easy for us to communicate with the host and he was very accommodating.
This was an excellent experience for me. The garden has obviously been well groomed and loved. The detail of care in the cottage and the entire property is commendable, and their coffee game is on point! I appreciate the hospitality!!
We wanted a few days in the Sorings area and picked a wonderful spot. The property and the guest house are so wonderfully decorated it was a real treat. The host were very nice and right there but we still had all the privacy we wanted.
The neighborhood is right in the midst of Olc CO city, Manitou Springs and CO springs. Pikes peak is a short drive.
We also recommend Cerebrus Brewing and Cantina Tacos west in old CO city. Cerebrus is only two blocks away!
Very positive experience with staying here. The location was near everything and the cottage itself was very nicely renovated.

About the host
Your host
We are proud to be local owners and operators, offering a personal touch that is increasingly rare in the short-term rental market. Tesla’s Cottage, built in 1899, earned its name because Nikola Tesla himself attended social gatherings here during his time in Colorado Springs. After a full renovation in 2021, we opened our doors to guests, maintaining a 4.97-star rating with over 350 reviews on a partner platform. We love sharing the history of this property with fellow travelers.
Why they chose this property
The Westside is the heart and soul of the original Colorado Springs. We chose this neighborhood for its deep historical roots and its authentic local vibe. It offers the perfect balance: you are steps away from the area's rich history and character, yet centrally positioned for quick, seamless access to the highway and airport. It is truly the most convenient 'jumping off' point for everything the Front Range has to offer.
What makes this property unique
What truly sets Tesla's Cottage apart is our intentional outdoor sanctuary. We have replaced traditional landscaping with sustainable xeriscaping and a garden featuring only flowers native to Colorado, creating an eco-friendly oasis for our guests. Our spacious yard is a rare, 420-friendly retreat in the city. Combined with the property’s unique tie to Nikola Tesla, we offer a blend of historical intrigue and modern sustainability that you simply won’t find in a standard corporate rental.
