About the property

One Bedroom, One Bath Cottage With Stunning Mountain Views.

Relax and renew in this tastefully renovated one bedroom cottage in the heart of Cheyenne Cañon. Located directly across the street from the trailhead to Stratton Open Space and hundreds of miles of popular hiking and mountain biking trails, this quiet 550 square foot cottage offers the comforts of a luxury hotel with the privacy and conveniences of home. Hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings and lots of windows bring a warmth and coziness to this Cañon getaway. Enjoy an easy one block stroll to the neighborhood coffee shop or walk just a few blocks to the famed Broadmoor Hotel or Seven Falls.

Stay at home to create meals in the fully equipped kitchen, including a chef's stainless gas range and vent hood, quartz countertops, microwave, Keurig coffee maker and all of the basic necessities! A selection of complimentary coffee and teas are provided. Dine in a separate dining nook with access to a full selection of plates, bowls, flat wear and glass wear (including wine glasses).

A separate bedroom with a queen bed, luxury linens and a large closet is adjacent to the living room. The bright living room offers a fantastic view of the mountains and Will Rogers Shrine and the opportunity to see abundant wildlife, including deer, fox, interesting birds (and yes, an occasional bear!) A flat screen TV with Blu Ray and iPhone/CD player is hidden behind the armoire along with books, puzzles and cd's. Wifi is available.

The spa-like bathroom has a new clawfoot tub, radiant floor heat and is stocked with luxurious towels, a hairdryer, high quality soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. An apartment size washer/dryer, detergents, iron and board are available in the unit.

The cottage is located in the rear of the property, so parking is off-street, quiet and safe.

A Little History:

Bella Cottage was built in 1922 as a 'mother-in-law' cottage. The cottage is named in honor of a woman who lived in the home located directly in front of the cottage when it was built in 1910. Bella, a widow and dressmaker at Hibbard's Department Store in downtown Colorado Springs, was one of the Cañon's first residents. Cheyenne Cañon was a summer getaway for wealthy residents of Colorado Springs at the turn of the century. Concerts were held every Sunday at Stratton Park, located just down the street from Bella Cottage. Just how and why Bella ended up living on this property is a mystery. However, she embodied the spirit of 'turn-of-the-century' Colorado Springs and one can only imagine her riding her bicycle to work in the summers or taking the trolley (abandoned by 1930) from the station in Stratton Park to her job. Cheyenne Cañon was incredibly rich in history, long before Bella's time. Going back to the encampments of the Ute Indians, this area has attracted nature lovers for centuries. The beauty of the area is unsurpassed and is awaiting to be discovered by . . . YOU!

THIS IS A NON-SMOKING PROPERTY, INSIDE AND OUT. Thank you for respecting this policy. The cottage is designed specifically for two adult guests, so additional occupants are not allowed. Thank you for understanding! Recycling is encouraged - a bin is located in the front of the property.

About Karen Brandner

I am a Colorado Springs native and have worked in the sports industry for the past twenty years here. I purchased this property, which includes the main house in front of the cottage, in 2004. I personally manage the rentals and enjoy meeting my guests.

Why Karen Brandner chose Colorado Springs

I am an avid runner, hiker and nature lover. The idea of living across the street from the trailhead to my favorite trails was a dream come true! I am passionate about this area, its people and its history.

What makes this cottage unique

I love the character of older homes and I immediately fell in love with this property. After renovating both homes, I am honored to share it with travelers who are searching for a tranquil and comfortable 'home away from home' in the Cañon.

Bella Cottage was a perfect fit for our needs.

  • 5 of 5

To begin with, the cottage passed with flying colors our essential criteria of clean, comfortable, safe and quiet. It had loads of charm and was very cozy. The off-street parking was a nice bonus too. On our next trip to Colorado Springs, we’ll be sure to see if there is room for us at Bella Cottage. Many thanks Karen; it was a pleasure to meet you!

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were in town for a wedding at the AFA Chapel with an extra few days to spend exploring the area. Great central location in the Canyon. Enjoyed the great little coffee shop up the road, hiking in and around the Stratton open space area and checking out the Broadmore all within walking distance. Perfect accommodations for two. Will definitely stay here again.

Peaceful, relaxing/comfortable Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful little cottage. We wanted to stay out of the hustle of town yet close to SO MANY sights and hiking trails!!!The location was perfect and the home space itself was peaceful, comfortable country charm. The Sacred Grounds Coffee Cafe just down the road a block was most enjoyable every morning from the break fast to the coffee to the new friends we met/made.We hope to come back for another stay and a SEGWAY tour.

Thank you Karen & Steve, it was delightful and memorable.

Quiet & Beautiful. Serene & Just Far Enough From Everything.

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful cottage to stay at. Karen was very welcoming and warm the brief moment I spoke to her. She is very respectful of her guests and makes herself readily available. The cottage itself is in pristine, and immaculate condition with all the little details accounted for. She provided all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay (coffee, condiments, pots, pans, some water to get us started, etc.). The couch is cleaned and if you are staying longer than a couple of days, she even has a washer/dryer with detergent readily available in the cottage. She has utilized the space very effectively in order to maximize the experience. It gives a very serene atmosphere without feeling cramped. The dining area no longer has a bench up against the window, but I wished it did because it would have added more to the theme. The bathroom is absolutely beautiful--it has a chic style with a modern touch. The rooms feel very warm and welcoming--with heaters for the cold weather, which is a plus.

The property is quiet and just a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk to the Broadmoor. There are numerous places close enough to hike, eat, drink, or visit without having to drive over an hour, which is a nice added bonus to her property. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and Karen has been such an amazing host. It is affordable and reasonably priced. I hope to have the chance to visit Colorado Springs soon--and I know where I will be staying again! Thank you Karen!

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

From the moment I opened the door it was perfection. It was like a 5 star hotel experience but better. Quiet. Clean and spacious. The bed was fluffy and heavenly. The kitchen was modern and well equipped. I loved my quiet weekend at Bella Cottage!
