About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4). (Queen bed, two bunkbeds).

The 'Falls' at Lake Sutherland has been in our family since 1972 when my parents bought a small tiny cabin, nestled at the foot of a mountain on a crystal clear lake as an investment and a fun summer time activity for their five children. In 1999, my husband and I purchased the cabin to keep it in our family. It has been expanded, remodeled top to bottom, and now boasts one of the most lovely cottage interiors to match the unparalleled exterior beauty of Lake Sutherland, its views, and all that it and the surrounding areas have to offer.

Maple hardwood floors, tiled countertops and gorgeous wood wrapped windows frame the lake views while darling, cushy furnishings envelope you while you gaze. Cottage quilts cover the beds and thoughtful signs throughout the cabin, remind you that life is indeed 'good!!'

Sit on the deck in one of our famous 'swinging chairs' and read, bird watch, or just doze to the sounds of the lake and the waterfalls. Roast a hotdog in the open fire pit or do a perfect swan dive off of the diving board. Take the canoe out for a leisurely paddle, kayak or fish from the dock. Play a game, craft a puzzle, or challenge your spouse to a game of cards!!

If more activity is your desire, bring your boat and water sports equipment and take your adventures to the waves! The entire lake can be busy on weekends from mid July through mid August (the prime summer season) so if tranquility is your desire, book a midweek or pre/post summer season holiday!

*FOUR NIGHT MINIMUM JUNE-SEPT 8, TWO NIGHT MINIMUM SEPT-MAY

*SIX PERSON MAXIMUM AT ANY TIME ON THE PROPERTY

*NO PETS

*NO SMOKING

*THE CABIN IS TO BE LEFT IN THE SAME CLEAN CONDITION UPON DEPARTURE AS IT IS UPON ARRIVAL.

About The Owner

My husband and I grew up on Lake Sutherland. In fact, we own another property just four doors down from this one that we live in because the lake truly is, the only place to be!! We raised our own children at Lake Sutherland, and their fondest memories have all been made there as well. The mornings are my favorite time of the day when I can walk out on my deck, coffee in hand, and just drink in all of the beauty that this magical place has to offer.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1999

Why The Owner chose Olympic Peninsula & Pacific Coast

The chance to unwind after a day out and about by sitting and watching the lake is its own form of therapy! My husband and I grew up at Lake Sutherland and it continues to feel like magic to us and our grown children as well as those who come to stay with us!!

What makes this cabin unique

The unparalleled beauty, and the distant sound of the falls all combine to make Lake Sutherland a truly wonderful place to be.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Comfortable, Spotless and Adorable!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property on Lake Sutherland as a "base camp" so that we could do day hikes around the Olympic Parks then to come back and rest up. Man, was it way more than that!! We had a hard time leaving for our hikes! The Falls is so comfy and well appointed. Julie has thought of every convenience you would want for your stay, however long or short. We cooked meals everyday, had coffee while relaxing on the deck in the morning and a little wine while watching a movie. The place is clean, cozy, well decorated and...We will definitely be back!!

Owner's Response: You ladies were great and you timed your stay perfectly with the late summer sunshine!!! Not only did you leave the cabin spotless, but it was wonderful to see you both out on the swinging chairs enjoying not only the lake but your friendship as well! (And as for us....we very much enjoy a little wine with lake life too!:) Thank you for staying with us and yes....please do come back again!! Julie

Truly charming stay!

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed at the Cozy Cabin on a trip to the Olympic Peninsula. I was there with 3 other adults and we all thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights there. The cabin was very well accommodated with a fully stocked kitchen, lots of board games, and extra blankets. In addition, the canoe, kayaks, and paddle-boat were easily available. Julie was wonderful throughout the process of renting and being at the property. The only surprise during the whole process was discovering just how charming and beautiful the lake is. It provided a great home-base for our adventures across the Peninsula! I would absolutely recommend this property to others.

Owner's Response: So glad you discovered our little "gem" of a lake!! We have loved this place so passionately for over 40 years and still to this day, when we wake up, we feel so blessed and LUCKY that we can call it home. It is always a joy to share it with others as well so that they too can share in the beauty and fun that the lake has to offer. Thank you for taking such good care of our cabin, we truly appreciate it and hope that you come back to see us again! Respectfully, Julie

Beautiful! Fantastic! Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

This is a true gem. Our family has stayed at many VRBO homes and this was the top. Comfortable, well-appointed, beautifully furnished, kitchen with everything needed to whip up a meal, all in the most lovely surroundings with plenty of activities close by in the Olympic National Forest. We will be back. Julie, the owner, was delightful and a joy to work with.

Owner's Response: We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay at our little home away from home!! And, your family left our cabin just as you found it, that is truly appreciated! (You guys get two thumbs up from us, that is for sure!!) We hope that you were able to access the picture we took of your family enjoying the last moments on the dock prior to departure, to us, it represented love, life at the lake and family! We would love to have you back again. Thank you for choosing to stay with us! Respectfully, Julie

Hidden gem of a lake

  • 5 of 5

We came here extremely last minute for a couple of nights to be near family staying at totally booked up Lake Crescent Lodge--only because it was the only thing I could find nearby--and fell in love with beautiful little Lake Sutherland too! Lake Crescent has an awe-inspiring, unearthly beauty and is absolutely not to be missed, but what a lucky find this was. A beautiful, quiet, aquamarine lake in the Olympics - warm enough to swim in all day? Paddle boat, kayaks (be careful, I capsized at take-off, but it was ok because the water is warm!), and a canoe you don't have to rent by the hour? In a perfect little cabin where even if you realize you forgot conditioner it'll be under the sink? Oh, and an adorable sweet dog for my pet-starved children. Our hostess Julie was absolutely lovely and I really couldn't be happier with our stay.

Owner's Response: What a lovely review!! (And don't' worry about tipping the kayak.....we see quite a bit of "bottoms up" in boats of all kinds. Hence why we are such proponents of life jackets on hand!) So glad you family was able to squeeze in a couple of short days to spend out here! We would love to see you again should the opportunity present itself again. (Harley truly appreciated the extra loving as well! Julie

Great owners and stunning location!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four just returned from spending four amazing nights at this stunning location! The cabin was exactly as the pictures and descriptions stated, clean, well stocked with all the essentials and super cute! Great little community of individually owned cabins. Many have been in the same family for several years. We enjoyed all our meals and amazing views( bald eagles, the Milky Way) from the porch of our waterfront cabin. The cabin is well equipped with life jackets, beach towels, fishing gear, kayaks, paddle boat, a canoe, games, playing cards, puzzles, movies and much more. I loved that there was no WiFi and that my kids unplugged long enough to enjoy the lake and the the great outdoors. My son could not wait to get up in the morning, throw on his life jacket, and spend the whole day playing and paddling around in the lake. We were fortunate enough to have the owner Julie and her adorable dog Harley on sight. Julie would check in on us to see if we needed anything or had any questions. As I mentioned before, this is a small community that have owned these cabins for many years. The neighbors were all very friendly and respectful. We met a wonderful family with two little boys that my son became fast friends with. They fished off the dock together and paddled around in the paddle boat for hours having a blast! They were even kind enough to take him out on their boat which was a huge favorite for my son. We took a few day trips to Hurricane Ridge and Port Townsend which were all close enough to go explore for a few hours and still be able to enjoy the lake in the evening. Julie was amazing and very easy to deal with before, during and after our stay. We made some great memories this summer in this little slice of heaven and hope to return again next summer.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your thoughtful and thorough review! You pegged perfectly how life unfolds out here at the lake. AND, not only did you describe what we have to offer, but we were also just THRILLED at how simply lovely you left the cabin, we could literally "feel" how much respect was felt for our little home away from home!! It is families like yours who just jump in and immerse themselves in lake life and roll with it, enjoying every nuance, that we love to have out here. The lake just "becomes" a part of you!! As our kids will say to anyone who will listen, it is the best place on earth! Thank you, and we truly mean it when we say we would love to have you all back again!! (Harley means it too!!:) Julie
