About Pam Rumph

We live in upstate South Carolina, and Young Harris is the perfect place for a vacation home. We never tire of the beautiful and relatively short drive . The short distance allows us to enjoy the cabin ourselves on short notice and also enables us to keep everything in tip top shape.

Pam Rumph purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Pam Rumph chose Northeast Mountains

David and I became familiar with this beautiful area when his sister and husband moved up from Amelia Island. In visiting with them, we felt a real connection with the area and began toying with the idea of purchasing our own place. In 2008, it became a reality, and we purchased Rocky Knob cabin from a local couple. We love our place and enjoy sharing its' "magic" with others.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is truly a wonderful place - clean, beautiful, warm, well appointed ...the list goes on. We completely enjoyed our visit and would like to have stayed longer. (December 27-30, 2005)

We wanted a nice isolated get away. There was plenty to do if we wanted to leave the cabin that we were perfectly happy just staying there

Perfect family weekend in an awesome cabin

  • 5 of 5

We reserved the cabin so that we could spend the weekend together as a family. Our daughter attends college at Young Harris, so my wife, son, and I joined our daughter there. What a fantastic place. While there are other cabins nearby, you certainly get the feeling that you're the only cabin in the area. It's serene and beautiful. The cabin itself is amazingly well kept and well stocked. I mean WELL stocked. There's EVERYTHING you need to prepare meals and take care of yourself. There's a regular coffee maker AND one for k-cups. We forgot salt and pepper. Not to worry, that was there too. Pam and David take hospitality to a new level. OMG, there were games, toys, books, dvd's, even Netflix. It was more akin to going to someone's home than visiting a rental cabin. They checked on us, but certainly didn't interfere with our activities > just prior to departure via email and once via text message. They even responded to a question while we were there. In addition to cooking meals in the cabin and having some great family time, the cabin's ideal location allowed us time to venture out. We managed to find time to visit local attractions, ride the train in Blue Ridge, pick apples and attend church with our daughter. The only regret we have is not having more time to stay longer. We'll be back for sure!

This cabin is extremely clean and decorated to impress

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very nice, there was plenty of everything one could need. We are out both evenings and just did sandwiches other meals, so we didn't have anything to clean. The only thing I could complain about is the mattress in the master bath, couldn't get comfortable on the memory foam, it was too much like trying to sleep in a hammock. Everything else was very relaxing!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of the cabin and comment on the mattress. While the mattress is fairly new and we have many people tell us how comfortable it is, we totally understand that it may be a little soft for some folks. We have been talking about replacing it with something a little firmer and hope you will stay with us again once that is done!

Perfect in every way! Beautiful. Quiet. Well-equipped. Comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

Rocky Knob Cabin exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect choice for our trip to Georgia (from Vermont) in conjunction with our son's wedding. The cabin's owners were accommodating, friendly, and gracious. We highly recommend this home to other visitors and would definitely book a future stay here should our travels bring us back to northern Georgia.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

Pam and David, Thank you for sharing your cabin with visitors! We were looking for a place to just get away and relax as we celebrated our birthdays. Your cabin sure fit the bill. Everything we could possibly have needed was provided. We enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and just sitting outside on the deck. We even experienced the Great Eclipse of 2017 from the front porch! Thanks for your attention to detail and your hospitality. We look forward to visiting again.

Perfect price for something nice

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in this secluded little cabin. The owners were the most hospitable of all the VRBO's I've ever rented. I normally bring cleaning supplies and clean the entire place whenever we rent... but this place was so clean that I felt like I didn't have to clean as vigorously as I normally do. I also always bring washcloths and sometimes linens, but the owners had everything we could have needed and it was all clean and fresh and seemingly new. They even had soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion! The cabin itself was very nicely decorated with antiques and Americana memorabilia. My daughter went around cleaning all of the gemstones and beautiful rocks so she could "see them shine." My son enjoyed the antiques and learning what each one of them were, since they were all things he's never seen before. The beds were comfortable and the owners splurged on "my pillow" pillows. :) The kitchen was also fully stocked with spices, oils, cooking spray, any almost any kind of dish or utensil that you might need. I didn't see a pizza pan, but a cookie sheet worked just as well. The area that the cabin is in, is a neighborhood... but you can't see any neighbors and we didn't hear any of them either. It was perfect! We were also close to all of the things we wanted to see and do. Our trip was way too short, so we will have to make it a point to come back! Thanks for the wonderful stay Pam and David! We really enjoyed ourselves and my hubby said this trip helped him feel closer to me... so it was a refreshing and renewing trip.

Owner's Response: Thanks to you and your family for staying at Rocky Knob, and we are happy to hear that you found everything relaxing and to your satisfaction. Also, we appreciate the note about the pizza pan; David and I were just discussing that we purchased one, but it does not seem to be at home OR the cabin! We hope to have you stay again!
