Guestbook comments from the owner

?From our Guest Book: "We could not believe this vacation condo was everything we were expecting. Waves smashing on the beach were seen from every room.

The sound of the ocean was like a restful melody all night and day. Surfers entertaining us all day, dolphins and wales jumping out of the ocean 300 yards out to sea while sea turtles popped their little heads from the surf shore. Some evenings a few net fishermen would cast their nets from the rock out cropping 50 feet away.

Magnificent sunsets from our lanai created the vision of faraway shipwreck islands and wonders of disappearing golden sun setting into the silver-blue ocean behind the radiant distant clouds.

Even washing dishes overlooking a beautiful peaceful island beach was amazing. Cooking was a pleasure with the fully equipped kitchen and ocean front, pool side, bar-b-ques.

We and the kids spent unlimited hours laying around the pool and soaking in the invigorating Jacuzzi.

Walking less than a mile along the ocean to the village of Kailua-Kona was irreplaceable.

We stayed two weeks this time and plan on a month next time."

Comfortable Kona condo for the family in a great location.

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking for a condo for your family's stay in Kona, this rental is a great option.

Pros: Nice little beach next to the unit (accessible through the pool), and a wonderful swimming pool and hot tub the kids will love. The condo is very comfortable and spacious, with a fabulous kitchen and comfortable beds. The location is super -- it's just on the edge of the busy-ness of the shops and restaurants of Kona, so it's quiet, but less than a half-mile walk to the action. Easy parking. It's also easy to drive south to Capt. Cook and other South Kona sites. Ocean front is great for people who want the view. The ladies who staff the rental management office are very kind and helpful. Nice to have the AC unit in the living room to cool things down, but it was fine to just keep the windows open most of the time.

Cons: Ocean front, so the waves can be quite loud. It's just a personal preference. I liked it, my husband thought it was too close to the water.

Suggestions for improvement: Sheer curtains in the living room would make it more comfortable, as the light gets very bright in the afternoon. Adding more lighting outside by the front door entry way would make it easier to enter the unit, since the corner where the front door is located is dark.

Overall, very nice place to stay in Kona, better than a hotel if you are traveling with children - mine loved having their own bedroom and bathroom. Thank you for your hospitality.

Kona and all it's charm

  • 5 of 5

Kona is an amazing vacation destination and Kona Reef is a perfect home base. Check in was a breeze. This unit in particular gives you beach, ocean and beautiful surroundings a few steps from all the action. Not into all the action? You can be a fly on the wall in the privacy of your lanai. While you're there you can catch the spinner dolphins putting on a show, as well as the surfers trying to land the next big wave.

The unit was recently updated so that was great; it met all of our needs and you just can't beat the location. Shopping is close by, BBQs are great for eating in and doesn't take long to settle into the laid back Kona groove. Lots of quaint little towns around Kona so we visited some of those too (by car). The centrality and ease of access makes it hassle free.

My only suggestion is to equip the unit with a good broom and dustpan - we like to treat our vacation rentals like home and eat in quite a bit so the absence of a dustpan made it challenging to keep our space as tidy as we like...but we made do.

We had a great vacation in this lovely unit. Mahalo Ken and Dia for sharing this gem. We hope to return again soon. Highly recommend.

Wonderful view and amenities.

  • 4 of 5

There is no better view on the Kona coast. It's fabulous and interesting, with wonderful sunsets, sea turtles, dolphins, surfers and more. The pool looks out on the view which is nice. Plus this unit is newly remodeled and easily walkable to the Village. All amenities were there and the Kona Reef office had additional stuff like snorkeling masks, etc. for a low rental. One caution: the elevator does not stop on the unit floors! You have to make an up or down walk of 5-6 steps. For most this is not a problem, but if you have disability issues be sure you can navigate to your unit. This was the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, as it impacted one of our group. Otherwise it was great. Wish we could have bottled the view and brought it home!!

Amazing ocean front property

  • 5 of 5

We just spend six nights at this wonderful surf side condo. The sound of the ocean and the crashing waves is really quite something. The kitchen has been renovated and appliances are all new. Well equipped. Easy checkin in process. Close to town and restaurants (no need to drive). Nothing not to love about this place.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. We are always glad to hear that a guest enjoyed the view, and all of the upgrades making this one of the nicer units at the Kona Reef. It is hard to beat the location, just 1 1/2 blocks from town. We do our best to provide an above average accommodation that is fully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. We look forward to your return in the near future. Mahalo
