About the host
Hosted by Steve Shargo
Originally from the Midwest, we've been in Maine for nearly 25 years. We have a large family and bought the camp/cottage to create memories and give our kids something to be anchored to in the craziness of the last 2 years.
Why they chose this property
Onawa is a magical little village that offers hiking, boating, fishing, and close up views of active trains (they run on the tracks in front of our cabin 2x a day!). Hop, skip, and a jump from the Appalachian Trail (Borestone Mountain) and the 100-Mile Wilderness. The public boat lanuch has very little public use, as the camp road is a five mile winding way into the middle of the forest. The night sky is breathtaking.
What makes this property unique
Four season offerings - from boating in summer to snowmobiling in winter (all the way to Katahdin Iron Works), and everything in btwn. There's even a tiny Chapel in the village that offers Sunday services throughout the summer. Monson is about 25 mins away (convenience store and gas station), Guildford 30 mins (grocery store), and Greenville is 40-45 mins (also grocery store and the incredible Moosehead Lake).
