About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms, 5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-14)

Availability: April 26 - November 30; rental during winter on request

This unique house is located in Perrin Cove on the beautiful emerald green waters of Lake Burton. The homesite once was the location of a 1920's vacation cabin with a handsome rock fireplace. Through the years, the cabin eventually rotted away, but the fireplace remained. In 1960, the current owners discovered the fireplace and built a small but quaint cabin onto it--we call this the 'old part'. Two large additions were made to the little cabin: one for a master bedroom suite, and one for a large dining room. Also added to the grounds were a two-story garage and a two-story boathouse.

The main house itself has four bedrooms, each with a full bathroom. The 'old' part of the house has its own front porch and sitting area, and also has the original woodburning rock fireplace (there is a generous supply of wood stacked on the grounds). The 'new' part of the house has a large living room with gas logs in the fireplace, a spectacular dining room with a huge round table, large galley kitchen, large master suite, and a large wooden deck with a hot tub. There are views of the lake from the porch, deck, living room and dining room.

Down the hill is the two-story boathouse with a separate bedroom (no bathroom). Many hours can pass just sitting on the porch swings and hammock. For the more active vacationers, swimming and boating are absolutely fabulous in this pristine lake!

Up the hill is the two-story garage. A curving covered walkway lets you escape those mountain showers during loading and unloading your car when getting from the garage to the house. Above the garage is a separate bedroom and bath with shower; and there is a wonderful little porch with an adirondak chair waiting for you.

The water in Lake Burton is some of the cleanest in the state--it holds the most beautiful colors of nature, reflecting the green trees in spring and summer, the autumn hues in fall, and the bright blue of the skies in winter. There is a marina on Lake Burton where you can rent a boat and tour the lake.

The area surrounding Lake Burton holds many pleasant surprises for those adventurous enough to leave the lake. Clayton is close by, and Highlands, NC is a short trip, too. And don't miss the local places like Goats on the Roof (they really are on the roof!), The Dillard House, and the Alpine town of Helen.

About Joanne

This property has been in the family for 2 generations, and loved by all who go there.

Joanne purchased this house in 1960

Why Joanne chose Northeast Mountains

Lake Burton is the most beautiful lake in North Georgia. And this house is right on the lake in a quiet cove.

What makes this house unique

There are so many activities in the area that they are too numerous to count. The lake is great for swimming and boating. Shopping is so much fun around the lake, too. You can take day trips to wonderful places, even into North and South Carolina!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Spring finally came to Lake Burton and it is beautiful. Your lake house is great--so many interesting items to look at inside and out. We built a nice fire at night in the old fireplace; it's a treasure. And the master bed is fit for royalty. Can't wait to come back!

Excellent customer service

  • 5 of 5

My family & extended family were looking forward to staying here during Thanksgiving break.

Unfortunately forest fires further north in Georgia and Tennessee were causing intermittent smoke in north Georgia. Since some of our family members have respiratory difficulties we had to cancel our trip.

The Coopers were excellent to work with and very understanding of our situation and need to cancel.

We appreciate their concern for our well-being and do hope to stay here in the future.

Wonderful Week With The Entire Family At The Lake

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time on the water at Lake Burton. This place is amazing!! There was enough room for 9 of us to spread out and each of us to have a comfortable place to sleep. There was also enough space for all of us to eat together at the large round table in the dinning room. The house is very unique and very peaceful. The dock was a perfect place to relax and spend time playing at the lake. We had a place to dock our pontoon which made it very convenient to enjoy all that Lake Burton has to offer. The memories made at "On The Water At Lake Burton" are priceless.

What a gorgeous and unique cabin!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were fortunate to stay at the Cabin at Lake Burton this past weekend. It is such a lovely and peaceful place. The owners have many unique pieces of memorabilia they have collected over the years. It was fun to look at all of it and then read about the history of it. I could have spent many hours just going over each room. The lake is beautiful and the boathouse was a neat place to just laze away the afternoon. The master bedroom has a large incredibly comfortable bed with a HUGE picture window in the bedroom. We will definitely be going back and would like to take the family to enjoy it with us next time. There is a bedroom upstairs in the loft that the grandchildren will be fighting over!

The owners sent great notes and instructions for us so that before we got there we already knew what we needed to do.

You can tell that everything in the cabin has been well thought out by the owners and no detail is too small to think about. What a neat, neat place!!!!!

Great Family House

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed your home! We had ages 8-70 and it was a perfect fit. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. The cove was a perfect place for the kids to swim and play without boat traffic. We will definitely be back. Thanks!

Family Fun!

  • 5 of 5

Our entire family (ages 20 months to 85 years old) enjoyed a week at this home on Lake Burton. We had a wonderful time - the house was very comfortable and it was easy to feel relaxed and "at home". We fished and tubed on the lake and especially enjoyed the porch above the dock with the swings and hammock.... Each bedroom had it's own bath which was very convenient. Our grandchildren LOVED the loft area in the master bedroom! Many happy memories were made as we were all able to sit around the HUGE round table for our meals. We will always have a special place in our hearts for this home and our time there.
