Guestbook comments from the owner

I was in San Jose on business and decided to take a couple of extra days to visit the Monterey Bay area with my mother who was travelling with me. We found Nina's place and it was right up our alley! If you love old houses, architecture and/or history, this charming, three-bedroom in the historic Pacific Grove area will delight you. The cottage has hardwood floors, historical pictures grace the walls, and it's clean and inviting. The kitchen is HUGE and has a wonderful little garden off of it in the back. There's even a park across the street. We also liked that it's centrally located - a short drive and you're in Carmel-by-the-Sea or Monterey. And Nina's recommendations for dining choices were just what we were looking for. We'd definitely stay here again if we're in the area - lots of serendipities and memories to be made!

The house is an old Victorian house but well kept. We loved staying at this property.

nice place to become familar with the locals

  • 4 of 5

This is a perfect location if you are not really interested in being overwhelmed with the tourist scene. The location of this house is on a great block. There is a very active but small neighborhood park right out the back door that is perfect for anyone who has kids. The local market is within walking distance as is other tourist areas such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The only drawback to staying in this house as others have mentioned is the furniture. It has limited comfortable furniture for sitting around and being lazy. Even though it is small house, it is perfect in everyway, except for the furniture particularly in the living room. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is also comfortable. My family are big readers so not having a good place to read a book other than a bed was not ideal. I would recommend this location for it's variety in restaurants and activities. We especially liked the farmers market on Mondays. We were there during seal birthing season so we saw lots of baby seals! We rented bikes and went whale watching. All within a short distance from this house. We also got to visit the annual Pacific Grove street fair. I would recommend this as a great alternative to paying for a hotel room any day! We felt very much at home staying here for our week long stay.

Exceeded expectations!

  • 5 of 5

It was just a short three night stay to spend some time with the family living in Pacific Grove. The house is located within easy walking distance to Lover's Point, where my morning coffee was greeted by the sun rising over beautiful Monterey Bay. The house is beautiful and smartly decorated and very comfortable. Much of the artwork on the walls are old era pictures of the area and probably have more significance to the property and community than I was able to decipher during my short stay. The family and grandkids came over for Sunday barbecue on what was a cool and rainy evening. We had a wonderful time watching movies and playing games in front of the beautiful and warm fireplace! Nina was great and had the place in tip-top shape. I will consider it my first desired option when I return and recommend it to anyone wishing to visit one of the most beautiful coastlines on the planet.
