This comfortable, well-maintained farmhouse is perfect for two couples with 2 children, and a baby, and a set of grandparents; or for 3 couples. Queen beds, double bed, twin beds, futons couches provide ample sleeping. Guests who like a rural setting will enjoy a place to sit and drink coffee to watch the sunrise, as well as a sunroom with a back deck for watching the the sun go down behind the trees. A grill is provided. A near-by town landing and ample parking make it easy to trailer your own boat to this property and launch it in a tidal river, with the open expanse of WhoHoa Bay beyond, with endless boating possibilities in waters used mainly by lobster boats. Islands galore for picnics. With permission, five kayaks are available for use.
In season, there are blueberries to pick, as well as fresh vegetables to gather for salads and supper. In nearby South Addison and in Jonesport, you can buy clams and lobsters. An organic market is within an 8- mile drive, with other markets closer. Sea gulls, crows, and, sometimes, a blue heron or a bald eagle, sail overhead. The owner keeps a baseball field mowed. There is a bat and ball, and also small lacrosse sticks available for use. The pond has a little row boat for small children to learn to row. The sand beach down by the tidal river is perfect for small children to walk and gather stones and shells, while a tidal island pops up at low tide, with enough bare sand for children to walk to with their parents. There is also a play house for children called 'The Pirate House.' The owner has made paths through her 50 acre woodlot, with signs marking mosses and special locations like ' The Gnome House.' These paths provide fun and exercise for everyone; a special adventure for little ones! Fun for grown-ups as well.
A renovated kitchen, with ample eat-in space, including a high chair, with a spacious sunroom/sitting room off it, provide wonderful places for family meals, family board games and reading and conversation. This is a place for a slower, more thoughtful, quieter 'old-fashioned' summer vacation, with walks, books, quiet times, adventures with flowers and vegetables, berries and birds, frogs, butterflies, dragonflies. There is a good woodland hike around the property, with other nature trails nearby. A free mooring is available in the river.

Susan Rich Sheridan. I am a 72 year old mother and grandmother, as well as a writer, a painter, a walker, a gardener, and a boating person. I moved and renovated the barn which was close to the farmhouse. This is where I now live, full-time. I am a quiet person, and will not intrude on tenants. I mow the yard, work in the gardens. I have a lovable dog, Spenser.
Susan Sheridan purchased this farmhouse in 1969
I lived on this property for 45 years. My children grew up here. My grandchildren love it. I want to share it with others. The barn is across the yard from the farmhouse with a separate parking area, separate well and septic system. The two units are distinct, and private. I plan to share the vegetables with tenants, as well as (with my permission, and with injury-releases) the row boat and the kayaks.
Some of the unique benefits of the farm: a quiet place to write and read, views to paint, the chance to study wild flowers and wildlife, including birds, with 20 acres of front fields on the tidal river and 50 acres of wood lot. The farm provides a safe, large river area for boating. The pond provides a place for children to practice with row boats and kyacks. There are many places to paint and sketch. The owner has her own studio in the barn, and encourages writers, artists and craftspeople of all types to come and stay. I offer weeklong Drawing/Writing workshops for groups of 4-8 who rent the farm for this kind of creative retreat as an additional program.
We enjoyed ourselves so much! The peace and rest that our Family has for a few short days was incredible. We picked blue berries, went on a Lobster Boat and then cooked the Lobster, played games, had lots of coffee, cooked meals and baked desserts in the spacious kitchen. Many late night visiting with Family and our Beautiful friend, Susan! It was a small piece of Heaven!

The property is a great example of a farmhouse of a bygone era. It has a mix of antique surroundings with modern amenities. The rural nature of the area makes a terrific getaway from the pressures of modern life, absolute quiet, most cell phones unable to connect! Long walks, exploring villages, antiquing, admiring the rugged Maine coast, fishing, lots to see and discover. The sunroom invites all to relax together after a full day or get caught up on reading. Acadia N.P. is a great day trip.
Overall a great find, a relaxing getaway, will recommend to friends and family!
