Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Get to know a real Seattle neighborhood with coffee shops, boutiques, restaurants, Green Lake and Woodland Park Zoo, all within walking distance, and a short drive or bus ride to downtown and Seattle Center. The Phinney Guest Cottage can accommodate 2 adults and a child (infant/toddler gear available upon request: PacknPlays in travel or regular sizes, high chair, etc.). Additional twin air mattress is available for an older child.

This stand-alone house is decorated with a charming blend of antiques and contemporary furniture, and thoughtfully appointed. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a stackable washer/dryer. Relax in the cozy living room and stay in touch with free Wi-Fi. Enjoy a glass of wine in the evening on the sunny enclosed deck.

Phinney Ridge is a truly walkable neighborhood: no need for a car since you can walk everywhere and take the bus downtown (and avoid parking hassles!). The bus stop is a few steps away, and schedules and details are all provided for you. Restaurants close-by include Mediterranean, Thai, American, Greek, vegetarian, Mexican and the best burgers and onion rings in Seattle at Red Mill. Because this is Seattle, there are six excellent coffee shops within just a few blocks, including our favorite half a block away. May through September, the farmers' market on Friday afternoons is a great place to find delicious local produce.

Seattle is a spectacular city, and we hope you enjoy your visit!

About The Owner

Linda lived in France and in Brooklyn before following her daughters to the West coast. She loves Seattle and all the many activities it has to offer, including hiking, theater and playing with her grandchildren. Linda speaks fluent French.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2007

Why The Owner chose Seattle

Linda purchased the guest cottage along with her house, and when it is not being rented out, it is often used for visiting family members.

Guestbook comments from the owner

(Review mailed to the owner by guests)

My husband and I spent 3 months January-March in the Phinney Guest Cottage and found it to suit our needs perfectly. The cottage's unique location gives it a neighborhood/small town feel with numerous city amenities available. Restaurants, grocery stores, churches, parks, Green Lake and zoo are all in walking distance from the cottage. Linda, the owner, is very hospitable and quickly responds to the needs of her guests. We have already recommended Phinney Cottage as a great place to stay while visiting the Seattle area.

This cottage had everything we wanted. The bus line to Seattle was on the corner and it was minutes to drive to route 5.

This little cottage and deck is so inviting and located within a stone's throw of lots of restaurants and a bus which can get you into Seattle in about. 40 minutes for about $2.50($1.00 for seniors)! The owner, Linda, could not have been more helpful and always ready to assist. A great home away from home!Highly recommend spending time in this lovely place

Beautifully quiet and perfectly appointed, in a very walkable neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Our experience at Phinney Cottage was a model VRBO experience. Everything was as depicted. The place was sparkling clean. Our hostess Linda was welcoming and available when needed and not at all intrusive. All of our needs had been anticipated -- blow dryer, laundry detergent, ice in the freezer, nicely equipped kitchen, extra pillows and blankets. The cottage is steps away from the main house but very private. We loved venturing into the city by day and returning to the beautifully quiet Phinney Ridge property in the evening, enjoying the feel of being in a neighborhood. It was so nice to be able to enjoy breakfasts and some dinners at the kitchen table and on the patio, and we loved relaxing in the sitting room. We were in town without a vehicle, but the bus stop into town was a block away and easy to navigate. Two grocery stores and several bars and restaurants were also within walking distance. We even walked just a few blocks to take in a (most excellent!) performance by a local professional theatre company.

Although we do not anticipate a return trip to Seattle, we will heartily recommend Phinney Cottage to anyone who asks, and we will be looking for a similar experience in other places we visit. This was our first VRBO stay, and Linda set the bar very high!

owner. Great neighborhood with restaurants, coffee shops and grocer within easy walking distance. Central location was perfect for us as we had a mini family reunion. Highly recommended!

Magically wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Loved this cottage! It was a wonderful place to stay. Loved having a washer and dryer, patio, and CD player.

A couple of things I didn't really like was the spider that popped up in the shower , the street parking was a little rough, the giant mirror in the bedroom freaked me out alittle thought it was going to just fall, and the pillows for the bed weren't that great but you can't please everyone with the right amount of pillow comfort.

Linda was very nice though. She made sure my son had a bed to sleep on, we also got to pick rasberrys on the outside of the cottage. Loved being right in the middle of some shops. Little walking distance to the bus stop. Liked that Linda provided coffee, dishes, utinsels for the kitchen. Was very thankful for the sunscreen and towels that were available too. :) wonderful wonderful place would stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I am sorry about the spider -- I have an eco-friendly treatment done for the cottage four times a year to prevent ants and any other insects. I will take note of your comment about the pillows; there is already an extra pillow in the closet, but I will add another one. As for the mirror in the bedroom, I had it reinforced some time ago so that it cannot fall down. I'm glad that, on the whole, you enjoyed your stay in the cottage.

Lovely, Quiet Neighborhood

This is a quiet, pedestrian friendly neighborhood, close to a bus that takes you downtown in a very short time. The cottage is perfect for 2 people, and is charming and comfortable.
