About P V Roby
My family lives in Ann Arbor Michigan. We have three children, the youngest of whom is 27.
P V Roby purchased this House in 1999
Why P V Roby chose Leelanau
We began renting vacation homes in Northern Michigan in the 1980's. It was always a 'shot in the dark' renting homes sight unseen. When we discovered our property in the early 1990's we knew we had found somewhere we could return to every summer. Our three children could swim in the bay which is shallow for quite a ways. We loved tubing and snorkeling in the crystal clear water. There were plenty of 'critters' for the kids to study and catch. The Leelanau peninsula is absolutely beautiful and there are many activities close by. In 1999, when the owner of the property who lives next door offered to sell it to us, we couldn't refuse. We purchased the property in 1999, removed the old cottage and built the new house in 2000. We enjoy getting together with our extended families for reunions so we built Roby's Retreat with family reunions in mind.

Great house! If you're looking for lots of bedrooms and space, this is the place!
Had an awesome weekend at this house with a large group. Was really impressed with the cleanliness, attention to detail and abundance of practical things to make your stay better, whether you thought of it or not, especially in the kitchen. Along with so many bedrooms, all tastefully decorated and clean, the main floor has an awesome gathering place that includes the kitchen and living room. Nice big table for eating and playing cards and comfy seating all around. We stayed in March, when it was very cold, and still had a great time. I can only imagine how great this house would be in the summer for a really large family or multiple families/couples. Absolutely nothing negative to say, put this one high on your list for Traverse/Suttons Bay/Northport-area getaways. Hope to visit again to avenge my foosball losses, and browse a few more books!
Everything we needed. The place was very well kept and the location can't be beat.
Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.

Great place - Great view!
We loved this place! Lots of room, great view of the lake, private, clean. Easy to work with people, they get back with you asap, they talk to you and try to work everything out. Just a nice vacation.
Amazing time with a large group of friends! The house and property are gorgeous. The pictures don't do the house justice. This house fit us all comfortably with room to spare. Very clean, fully equipped kitchen. I can't say enough nice things about this house. Such a nice set up, that when it came down to it we cancelled some plans for the weekend so we could stay at the house more. It is the perfect location for wine tasting. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back if it works out.
This home is a hit for all - whether you're 4 or 74!
We are a large group (6 families) who spend Labor Day together Up North every year. Ages for our group range from 4 to 74 and Roby's Retreat is a hit for one and all! Since we've been gathering for nearly 20 years, we have some pretty specific requirements and Roby's Retreat checks off nearly all of our needs - sandy beach area, large modern kitchen and gathering area, Wi-Fi, plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms, hot tub, grill, fire pit, plenty of beach toys, and access to wineries and golf. Our group loves Roby's Retreat and I think we've stayed 3 - 4 times because it has become a favorite. You will not be disappointed.
BEST HOME WE HAVE EVER RENTED! CLEAN-COZY-MODERN
Roby's Retreat is honestly one of the nicest & most accommodating rental homes my family and I have EVER had the pleasure of spending time. I have "vacationed" all over the world any many, many places in our beautiful state of Michigan. The Roby Families vacation HOME in Omena / Suttons Bay is one of our favorite HOMES we've ever had the pleasure of spending quality time at & sharing with multiple families under the same roof!!
Roby's Retreat is not just a "huge house on a lake in Northern Michigan"... it truly is a "home away from home" with amazingly modern amenities throughout the kitchen and baths, STOCKED FULL of high quality flatware, dishes, bowls etc...ANYTHING YOU WOULD HAVE IN YOUR KITCHEN - IS HERE!!. The "warm" open and inviting floor-plan is great for gathering the entire group for meals and socializing. The outdoor screened in porch is so nice to relax & enjoy morning coffee or evening cocktails ;-). The downstairs rec-room/game room is such as nice feature for families with kids of all ages & the walk-out feature to the HUGE back/lakefront yard with hot tub, bonfire pit, neighboring marina (w/included boat-slip) is all PHENOMENAL !! I could go on all day but, I don't want to say more -at risk that I may not get my reserved week if too many people know about this "amazing gem in Omena /Traverse City ..Lol!
Bar None! the best place my family has ever stayed in Michigan !!!
