Guests will immediately enjoy this cozy beach house with hemlock wood panel interior and inviting decor. Step outside to take-in the spectacular view of the beautiful Pacific Ocean and Necanicum River Estuary as it flows out to the sea. There is a large back yard with a covered porch, picnic table and fire pit.

The scenery around our home is breathtaking. This rich and varied landscape supports an amazing diversity of wildlife and marine life that make up a fabulous eco system. Guests can retreat to the back yard to enjoy the habitat around them where they can sit on the patio or around a campfire to watch the sun set over the Pacific.

Just off of the lawn is a white sandy beach perfect for building sand castles, flying a kite, or try your luck at crabbing or clamming. The beautiful Gearhart Elk herd may even make an appearance in the estuary. The pictures above our couch were taken in the Necanicum Estuary by a local photographer.

For the water enthusiast bring your kayak or canoe to enjoy the solitude of the estuary while bird watching - there is a pair of Bald Eagles, Blue Heron and numerous other sea birds. Enjoy a walk on the beach or in to Seaside - the activities are endless.

About Candace Cady

This beach house has been in our family since 1964.

Candace Cady purchased this house in 1964

Why Candace Cady chose Seaside

Fun at the beach for everyone! This home is located in a quiet neighborhood 1.5 miles north of Seaside. Located on the Necanicum River Estuary, it's a short walk at low tide out to the Pacific Ocean. Whether you're an outdoor enthusiast or are looking for a place for your family to relax, this location has everything you're looking for in a vacation rental.

What makes this house unique

Enjoy gorgeous sunsets and the solitude of your canoe or kayak as it glides though the estuary. Witness the beauty of the local Gearhart Elk Herd as they graze along the waters edge. Observe the Bald Eagles, and other sea birds and wildlife as they forage for food.

Walk off our lawn onto a secluded beach to fly a kite and build sand castles in the sand, then try your luck at crabbing and clamming. Stroll along the beach and Necanicum Rivers edge to cross to the magnificent Pacific Ocean to find sand dollars and other shells.

Little Beach frontage and views

  • 4 of 5

Small house, yet had everything we needed (except Internet connection) for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the estuary views--Bald Eagles, Herons, and Gulls, all set about with changing tides. We were thrilled with a front yard visit from the Gearhart elk who came to prune the vegetation around the perimeter of the yard! Easy walk on the sand flats at low tide. Out of the madding crowds of downtown Seaside, but just a short drive away. We hope to stay here again.

3rd time back...

  • 5 of 5

We have traveled to Seaside three times now, and have stayed at this property each time. The home is simply, but comfortably furnished, and is warm and cozy. What makes it so special, however, is its location. When you open the back door, you step out onto a lawn facing the estuary, which is truly a spectacular and ever changing vista. This time we were treated to bald eagles and blue herons, and on our last night, the truly wondrous scene of a large herd of elk, visiting the estuary. It was magical.

At night, all one usually hears is the roar of the ocean waves from beyond the estuary, and as peaceful as it is, in minutes you can be in downtown Seaside, enjoying the many restaurants that line Broadway. During the day, one can drive to Cannon Beach - and many other beautiful areas along the coast for hiking - or whatever it is that you enjoy doing in the outdoors.

Candace, the owner, is always available if you require anything. We are so thrilled to have discovered this Seaside treasure. We can't wait to return.

We will be back!

  • 5 of 5

The house was a cute, older home with a large back yard, beautiful view of the water and very quiet. The kitchen had everything you could ask for and the bed was quite comfortable. We will definitely be back to this rental!

Fun vacation house! Had everything we needed and more. The kids had a blast in the little river!

  • 5 of 5

We look forward to coming back another year! The only small downside was that the house isn't on the "big waves" but the little river was amazing for young kids to play in and the water is warm so no freezing toes. (Just a two minute drive to the big waves though) We found a bunch of baby crabs and had a fun time having a bon fire at the end of the day.
