About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

NOTE: The minimum four night stay is $850.

Enjoy a tremendous view of Pike’s Peak mountain along with abundant wildlife in the beautiful Colorado Rockies. This newly-remodeled vacation rental home sits at 9,200 feet adjacent to the Pike National Forest. The cabin is perfect for couples, a family, a small family reunion, or anyone wanting to relax in the mountains any season of the year. This location allows guests to step out of a private mountain home into eight acres of alpine forest, with a short walk to a national forest. This vacation spot offers the best of all worlds; a comfortable home base for relaxing, exploring, and sightseeing, with the conveniences of home; a forest playground; plus the amenities from nearby cities.

This home is equipped with satellite TV both upstairs and downstairs. The two big screen TVs and DVD players are great for watching movies. Visitors will also enjoy the wireless internet access and the unlimited phone service for both local and long distance calls.

This is an immaculate home with new beds, furnishings, and appliances. The driveway goes to the front door. The cabin features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen with adjacent dining room, a great room upstairs, and a cozy family room in the lower level. The kitchen, great room, and dining room are open for comfort and convenience. Both the upstairs great room and the lower level family room provide great gathering spots with large windows that bring in the sun and make it easy to view the mountains and wildlife.

The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, utensils, dishes, and pans. A propane grill on the deck is available for outdoor grilling. All you need to bring is your food. The outdoor deck provides an exquisite daytime view of Pike’s Peak and clear nighttime view of the solar system. The backyard forms into a tree-covered valley for exploration and hiking. The wood burning stove will take the chill off a cool evening.

This is a great location for those wanting to explore the outdoors, yet remain close to the city and numerous attractions. The roads are well maintained. If wanting to explore beyond the cabin and surrounding forest, there are a multitude of things to do nearby. The cabin is located 15 minutes from Woodland Park (and 30 minutes from Colorado Springs), which has enough stores to provide about any product or service needed. There are many things to do year round in the Pikes Peak Region in addition to fishing, hunting, hiking, rafting, and skiing. The changing of the Aspen leaves in September is breath-taking. Summer time in the Rockies is unmatched, with average temperatures of 70 degrees, the Aspens in full bloom, and a sprinkling of wildflowers.

About The Owner

We are both educators who have always loved the mountains. We honeymooned in Colorado, return every summer, and long wanted to own a cabin in the Rockies. This will be our retirement home.

The Owner purchased this house in 2008

Why The Owner chose South Central

We have friends living in this area who always raved about the Pikes Peak region. The view of Pikes Peak from our cabin was a selling point; you can watch the mountain change in appearance ten times a day. There is so much to do in this area, particularly within an hour's drive. It's centrally located in Colorado, close to Colorado Springs and Denver, and is easily accessible.

What makes this house unique

Some of the greatest benefits to vacationing here are the simple ones... totally relaxing, watching the hummingbirds and deer, experiencing the daily weather changes, and constantly seeing the mountains. Great fishing is nearby.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a way to end the year and begin a new one. We had a great time in your home. Everything was wonderful. We enjoyed the warm fire, beautiful snowfall, and the great family time. We spent a lot of time driving around looking at homes and getting to know the area. We enjoyed the food in Divide and Woodland Park. We had time to relax and bond with the kids while playing in the snow, playing games, and watching your great selection of movies. Thanks for letting us enjoy your home.

Great home to vacation in

  • 5 of 5

Interior of home was great with plenty of room for seven of us. Enjoyed the deck and the view from it. The daytime and nighttime temperatures were great. Pine trees and wildlife enjoyed by all. The elevation affected some of us as we are accustomed to 800 to 900 feet above sea level in the mid-west where we live.

Perfect Vacation Home For Us

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 spent 5 days together in this beautiful cabin in the mountains. We enjoyed the spectacular view of Pikes Peak, the peaceful relaxing atmosphere and the mule deer we saw.

This house was perfect for us because it provided a wonderful layout that allowed enough privacy for each person as well as ample space to be together as a family to eat, play cards and other games and just hang out. This newly-remodeled vacation home was well equipped with everything we needed, clean and very comfortable. We loved it and had a wonderful time here and highly recommend this property! A big THANK YOU to Stephen and Tina for letting us enjoy your beautiful home during our family vacation.

Perfect Place to call Home Base for a week!

  • 5 of 5

We had a party of 10 and there was plenty of room for all of us. The place is located in the Pikes Peak National Forest-about a 15 min. drive up from Hwy 24. Easy access to Woodland, CO Springs, and the attractions there. We also visited Canon City and Buena Vista about 1 1/2 hour drive on separate days. Home has a beautiful deck that looks SE and has gorgeous views of Pikes Peak. There are neighbors near enough by that you do not feel isolated. The road up to the cabin is black top up until the last .5 mi., but even the dirt road is wide and groomed and firm for all vehicle types. There is a grocery store, gas station, restaurant and liquor store right on the corner off Hwy 24 before you drive up to the cabin. On the way to the cabin, In Woodland Park, there is a Walmart, and a Safeway grocery store. As well as many other options. Cell service in the house is on and off, however, Wifi is great and texting works well. The beds and furnishings were all up to date and just like home. Bedding and towels were included, and the kitchen appliances and equipment were adequate to make several types of meals. The weather in CO is always changing near the mountains. At the cabin, temps can vary from town about 5-10 degrees cooler. Expect a brief afternoon shower daily at least this year. We usually packed a daily cooler as well as a change of clothes and an umbrella when we headed out in the morning. Stephen the owner was always very prompt to answer our questions and filled us in on details to the property promptly. Thank you Stephen-we had a great time! (Stayed 7/29--8/4/17 traveler from WI)

Great Location in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week stay at this property. Our family includes 8 adults, a 3 1/2 year old and a 5 month old baby and we had plenty of room for everyone. The house has all the comforts of home including a well equipped kitchen for high altitude baking! Dining area and living room are large enough for the entire family to get together. Setting is in the middle of Pike National Forest (with hiking trails nearby) yet Divide with a grocery store, craft brewery, and rib place is a short drive away. Saw mule deer around the house each day. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Simply awesome!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was far better than we expected. The place was spotless, had EVERYTHING we needed, just like staying at our own home. The view and wildlife were wonderful to watch, our grandchildren enjoyed watching the deer and fox. One morning we had a buck looking at us through the front window. Thank you for having such a wonderful place, we would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful Cabin

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to stay for a week. The owner was great, he checked in to make sure everything was alright and see if we needed anything. He was always available to answer any questions or give suggestions. The view off the deck are absolutely stunning. Loved being outside in the cool mountain air early in the morning with coffee watching the sun hit Pikes Peak or relaxing at the end of the day looking at the great views. The cabin itself feels more like home and not a getaway cabin. It's decorated wonderfully and fully stocked with anything that you would need. It's nice and private, yet it's close enough to anything you might need or want to see. It was great for wildlife photography. Saw lots of deer in the area and on the property everyday. Was lucky enough to see a bear from a distance and a cute little fox on the property. Plus many birds. It was a great place to relax and unwind. Hope to make back again some day
