Located within 5 miles of groceries, restaurants, and gas stations. We are conveniently located near Pikes Peak, Cripple Creek, Woodland Park and approximately 25 minutes to Manitou Springs/Garden of the Gods/Colorado Springs. This property has just added a land line that makes it easy to call about the local attractions.

After a day of cross country skiing, hiking, white water rafting, fishing or enjoying the nearby attractions come back to our cabin and enjoy the fully stocked kitchen (new Kuerig coffee maker), and the view from the deck while grilling on the gas grill. Enjoy the stars from the hot tub while watching the flames of the lava bowl dance in the evening sky. You see no other homes anywhere from the location of the hot tub. It is private and surrounded by forest and wildlife. Enjoy your favorite shows our HDTV 50" TV, and check out our selection of movies. Our retreat has 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, living room, family room, kitchen, dining and laundry room with large washer/dryers.

At the lakes (located only a half a mile away) there are several picnic benches, and volleyball net. There is ample parking next to the lake if you prefer to drive. Drop a line in the lake to fish during the summer months and go ice fishing in the winter- timing varies based on when the ice is thick enough. There is a nominal fee for fishing and NO Colorado license is required. The lake is open for fishing from May through October 31st! We provide the poles, tackle and bait. Also, we have two different kinds of boats for you to enjoy on the lakes in the Summertime- no extra charge. One is a 14ft rowboat, and the other one is a new pedal boat.

This retreat is supplied with a binder filled with information about the property as well as the local area! This includes brochures on area attractions.

We do not allow pets and you must be 25 years old to rent this property.

About Henry and Robin Reed

Hi, Henry and I (Robin) have lived in Colorado for 25 years and love the Rocky Mountains. It has been a wonderful place to raise our kids. We have explored many of the attractions here and there are things for all ages to enjoy!

When we moved to Colorado, we could hardly wait until our children were old enough to explore with us. When their grandparents retired here, they began teaching them how to fish for trout at the Rampart Range Reservoir. Being able to catch their limit has never been an issue!

We hope that you take the time to come to Colorado to relax, have fun and make some great memories!

Henry and Robin Reed purchased this house in 2013

Why Henry and Robin Reed chose Spring Valley

We spent a lot of time looking for a special place to get away and relax. When we found this property, we fell in love with the lakes, views and wildlife. Each time we have stayed here we have had deer come into the backyard early morning and evening.

Having a place large enough for our immediate and extended family was important in case we wanted to get away to celebrate a special occasion. This mountain home's layout lends itself to privacy for more than one family.

Be ready for a photo opportunity when driving to the house because elk herds frequent the area!

Pack a picnic lunch and sit by the lake! There are several covered picnic benches and a bathroom by the lake as well. Drop a fishing line in the lake and catch a trout (we provide the poles and tackle)!

What makes this house unique

This is the only cabin in the area where we pre-purchase fishing passes for our guests, provide two different types of boats to enjoy (at no extra charge) and provide poles, bait and tackle. NO Colorado fishing license is required and the lakes are stocked twice a Summer with a variety of trout. Come try and catch a Golden Trout...it HAS been done!

Awesome getaway

  • 4 of 5

The house is very nicely done, decorated and furnished in a mountain and woodsy theme with all the modern comforts. Would love to come back and stay again.

Excellent Honeymoon!

  • 5 of 5

At first driving to the cabin was a little scary, but once you do it twice it's super easy. There are so may things to do within a reasonable drive. The house is lovely. It really has everything you could possibly need, plus a hot tub! We had a question and Henry responded to my quickly and the question was answered. One day we came home and there were 3 deer hanging out in front of the cabin. One of them even came up to my husband and sniffed him. Like he felt the deer's cold nose. Just a great experience. I would highly recommend this home.

All Needs Thoughtfully Considered

  • 4 of 5

We unfortunately were not able to truly enjoy ourselves during our stay at this property as both my husband and I came down with the flu almost immediately before arriving. We had our 7 mo baby along with us and things like a pack n play, baby gate, and high chair made our stay easier. This would be the perfect kitchen to enjoy meals together as a family as everything you could think of is provided. Sadly- we did not do much eating. We would come back again to try to make up for this trip!

GREAT STAY!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a great time staying at this property. The cabin was very clean and relaxing. The hot tub was clean as well. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The owners also made the experience great. I never booked through VRBO prior to this, and they answered all my questions in a timely manner. We will definitely stay here again if we visit Divide in the future!

Beautiful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Widernest Cabin. It was close to Colorado Springs yet far enough away to escape the business of life. The cabin is beautiful and the view of the night sky was amazing. We enjoyed kayaking at nearby Burgess Lake and enjoyed the tranquil beauty of being in the Rocky Mountains.

The cabin is well maintained and has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. An evening soak in the very clean hot tub is just what the doctor ordered. The owners have thought of everything you need to relax and enjoy your stay. Can't wait to stay here again!
