About Henry and Robin Reed

Hi, Henry and I (Robin) have lived in Colorado for 25 years and love the Rocky Mountains. It has been a wonderful place to raise our kids. We have explored many of the attractions here and there are things for all ages to enjoy!

When we moved to Colorado, we could hardly wait until our children were old enough to explore with us. When their grandparents retired here, they began teaching them how to fish for trout at the Rampart Range Reservoir. Being able to catch their limit has never been an issue!

We hope that you take the time to come to Colorado to relax, have fun and make some great memories!

Henry and Robin Reed purchased this house in 2013

Why Henry and Robin Reed chose Spring Valley

We spent a lot of time looking for a special place to get away and relax. When we found this property, we fell in love with the lakes, views and wildlife. Each time we have stayed here we have had deer come into the backyard early morning and evening.

Having a place large enough for our immediate and extended family was important in case we wanted to get away to celebrate a special occasion. This mountain home's layout lends itself to privacy for more than one family.

Be ready for a photo opportunity when driving to the house because elk herds frequent the area!

Pack a picnic lunch and sit by the lake! There are several covered picnic benches and a bathroom by the lake as well. Drop a fishing line in the lake and catch a trout (we provide the poles and tackle)!

What makes this house unique

This is the only cabin in the area where we pre-purchase fishing passes for our guests, provide two different types of boats to enjoy (at no extra charge) and provide poles, bait and tackle. NO Colorado fishing license is required and the lakes are stocked twice a Summer with a variety of trout. Come try and catch a Golden HAS been done!

An amazing mountain getaway with all the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a wonderful and relaxing weekend at the Wildernest. The cabin feels like a home - and there was nothing we needed that wasn't provided. We loved the comfortable furniture, roomy kitchen, the HOT TUB! Everything was thoughtfully stocked and laid out. The setting is so peaceful, and we appreciated being so close to Mueller State Park (gorgeous) and the good restaurants in Woodland Park. Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us! It was a true retreat and a much-needed break. Oh, and my kids loved the dollar bill game!

Perfect. We want to move there :))

  • 5 of 5

After a long day travelling we were welcomed with wine and chocolates into the most beautiful cabin in the woods. All the furniture and decor were perfect for the area and it was very homely and relaxing. Our first morning we met Daphne ( as we called her) who was this huge deer by the back door who we near enough hand fed and was a regular visitor. It felt like we had our own Forrest as a garden and was even better looking at it from the hot tub after a long day visiting the million things to do in the area. We’d recommend the royal gorge railway and bridge if you’re looking for dramatic scenery. Cooking is easy with an awesome kitchen already stocked with spices etc that we normally have to buy at other places we stayed at. Drink lots of water and moisturise well as you tend to dry out at the altitude but you soon get used to it. Only thing we hated was leaving. Definitely definitely going back as soon as we can.

Just lovely

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed here a couple of times now and we rarely repeat a cabin rental as we like to explore new ones. This cabin is very clean, very well stocked, and provides a super comfortable stay. The hot tub is perfect, the fire pit is a super nice touch. Stars galore from the hot tub!

We come in the winter and ice fish (bonus!). The fishing in winter is slow, but what could be better than ice fishing then hitting the hot tub?

I can't imagine what a blast this place is in the summer time. I look forward to checking that out sometime.

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over New Years and had an amazing time. The house was equipped with everything you could need! We walked down to the lake, used the hot tub a lot, relaxed by the fire, watched movies and so much more. The beds are verycomfortable and the bunk room is great. In the mornings, we saw deer very close to the house which was really cool. Our friends who were with us saw some elk near the house as well. It's very quiet and the location is private, however we needed to get some groceries in town and it was only a 10 minute drive. I would absolutely stay here again!

Friendly Deer Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here so much, that we are going back in March. This place had everything for our visit with family in the area. It is easy to find, close enough to many attractions, but a quiet neighborhood, and had deer who came most days and would eat crackers out of your hand. The place was very clean and we had plenty of room. We were impressed by the kitchen. It had everything you needed for cooking, including a crock pot, pans, sugar, flour, spices, oil, etc. Since it was Christmas, we loved having a decorated tree. Our granddaughter loved seeing her gifts under the tree. She also wanted to stay every night with us because they had bunk beds in one room. Due to school, she only stayed one night. There is a hot tub, fire pit outside, and a beautiful view of woods in back of the house. If this is your first time to rent a VRBO, be aware that not all of them are stocked like this one and as great as this one. That is why we are returning. PS The owners are very friendly and will answer any questions you have and they do it quickly.
