About Marc Edwards

Baby Bear was the 2nd of the 4 houses purchased in the Atlanta area. The 3 Bears are all next to one another and this one is in between Mama and Papa Bear. Goldilocks is on sandy Clear Lake 10 minutes north of the Bears.

While the smallest of the 4 homes, it has the most charm.

Marc Edwards purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Marc Edwards chose Northeast

This house is often rented in conjuction with Mama or Papa Bear given it's location in the middle. This is great for family reunions or larger groups of friends and is discounted by 33% when rented as a group.

What makes this cottage unique

This Permalog home is very energy efficent - warm in the in the winter and cool in the summer with one small A/C unit. The new green metal roof with skylights add charm and really light up the living room.

The new bathroom has a jet tub and was completely redone in 2012. The kitchen is fully stocked and the 42' Plasma HDTV has most all of the Direct TV channels.

Great Time

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week here--the fastest week of the year! It's very quiet and is located on one of many chanels leading into Clear Lake. Although the kids and my dogs enjoyed swimming in the channnel, I found it to be alittle too weedy for my tase. But it was only 3 minutes to a near-by, little, sandy beach that was never too crowded. The kids and dogs enjoyed the beach too! The best thing about our stay were the two caretakers! Roger's daughter owns the cottage. My brother-in-law broke the motor on his fishing boat the first day we were there. Roger helped us out by lending us his boat for the last part of our stay! Clean, well-manintained, near-by store and restaurant and fabulous cosomer service. I would definitely recommend this get-away!!!

Lovely Permalog Cabin with Vintage Charm, Amazing View & Pet Friendly

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I, plus our two dogs, enjoyed our recent stay at Baby Bear. It rained quite a bit, so it was too "soggy" by the water (where the fire pit location is) to have a campfire, which was disappointing but the covered part of the deck was a wonderful place to sit & watch the day (and nature) go by.

The little cabin was spotless upon our arrival. Truly SPOTLESS!

It had everything necessary for cooking and the charcoal grill is right outside by the big deck. We didn't get a chance to try out the kayaks because of the weather but there were 2 on the shore for us to use. Although we weren't there long enough to need them, it's a nice plus that there's a washer/dryer.

Along with the metal roof, deck & good maintenance of the cabin, something else that really impressed me were the tube lights. I spent a good 15 minutes looking for a switch to "turn off the lights" someone else had left on. They look just like a recessed ceiling light and are a wonderful way to provide light toward the back of the cabin, in the dining area. :)

So, why the 4 star instead of 5? Absolutely nothing major but a few things that kept me from giving a full 5 star rating.

First, while the inside was spotless, the outside area wasn't. We picked up assorted paper trash, wads of fishing line, a few cans, etc that were either right by the cabin or down by the shore.

Second, neither of the bedroom windows had screens, so we didn't open them because we didn't want mosquitoes & other bugs to get in. It wasn't stuffy or hot in the bedroom, but it made us sad that we couldn't lie in bed & listen to the echoing loon's call or the wind whispering in the pines.

Third, the beautiful, heavy wooden, back door's screen door has no latch to keep it shut. Since we had our dogs, we couldn't leave the wood door open because they could nudge the screen door open and get loose.

Minor things, all. Would we love to stay there again? Yes, & hopefully we will. Mark is a very friendly and professional owner & his Baby Bear cabin has a gorgeous setting that's great for relaxing & unwinding.

Owner's Response: Thanks for feedback! Yes, the staff forgets about checking the outside grounds so that's an easy fix. The other things we'll take care once the Summer season is over. Of the 4 houses I own up there Baba Bear is my personal favorite - you can't beat that view from the deck! The green metal roof and the skylights were recently added and really makes it feel like home. Thanks again! Marc Edwards

A good stay for family of 5

  • 4 of 5

We recently stayed at this property with 3 children under the age of 10. The accommodations worked out well and there was plenty of space (including 2 dogs). The deck and waterfront area is where most of the time was spent, and everyone had a nice relaxing time.

Just a tip for new guests, the water floor is very soft & weedy - so do not expect a beach front or to wade in the shallow part of the water. There is a beach about a mile away if you need this. Otherwise, the kids kept life jackets on and dove from the dock (which has a pool-type ladder to get in/out of the water). To them it was a great change from a typical beach. Bring water shoes.

Wonderful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great long weekend at baby bear! The lake was great for kayaking and fishing and so relaxing to look at. The rental had everything we needed and more. We had such a wonderful weekend! The property owner was great, he helped promptly with any questions we had and gave us ideas of what to do in the area. We did not want to leave.

Owner's Response: Of the 4 homes that I own in the area, Baby Bear may be the smallest, but it's very quaint. The view from the deck is amazing as you found out. Hope to see you back soon! Marc

Wonderful cottage in a quiet town

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at baby bear for Memorial weekend. We really enjoyed the cabin/cottage. We ate our meals outside on the beautiful deck. A bit too cold to swim but did some fishing. The lake is a quiet lake. Heard the loons in the evening which was amazing. Marc was very helpful throughout our stay recommending local activities and attractions. Thank you Marc for accommodating us during our stay and having us at baby bear. I would recommend baby bear if traveling to the Atlanta area.

Owner's Response: Of the 4 house I rent out, Baby Bear is very special and very romantic. While the smallest of the houses, you have 2 acres of privacy, you own dock and fire pit, . The view from the large deck is amazing and the trees build into the deck makes it feel like a "tree house". Glad you enjoyed cottage and I look forward to you and Matt being back again. Sincerely, Marc Edwards
