The history of Green Gable Inn starts with my great grandparents who immigrated from Norway in the 1890’s and were the 3rd settlers in Hansville. In 1915 grandparents, John and Matilda, bought this property, built a house and raised their three children. The first house burnt down and the community rallied around them and together they built the second house. They also built a cabin and rented it out during the summer months (one of the first vacation rentals) to local fishermen that came to Hansville which was widely known as a popular salmon fishing area. The property stayed in the family and the house was expanded and renovated. In 2003 an expansive addition was added and the original house extensively renovated to what you see now. We love the Pacific Northwest and love sharing our home and this piece of history with our guests.

Our family had a wonderful, relaxing stay in Hansville at the Green Gables Inn. It's in a convenient location with much to do. The house is spacious and beautifully maintained. I would highly recommend staying here!
Spacious, we'll appointed house on a beautiful property. Check-in was easy, the house was well-supplied, and the location was easy to get to, whole still feeling very remote and private. We had a great stay over the Memorial Day weekend with another family. Would definitely stay here again!

Thanks for your review and we are glad you had a great stay. Hope to see you in the future.
Fantastic house with all the amenities, lovely porch and wonderful gardens. It was perfect for our group of 8. Owners were very responsive and communicative and even went out of their way to mail items that were left in the house after checkout.
We were attending a wedding in Port Gamble and several family members from our of town were also attending. We gathered and ate together and had a wonderful family reunion. Lots of area to sit and enjoy conversation. The property is beautiful and we would definitively recommend to a large family.

Your stay at Green Gable Inn. We also want to thank you for the beautiful wedding
Floral arrangement that you left for us to enjoy.
My sisters and I brought our families to this amazing home for a long weekend. We felt like we were in our own little world. So quiet and peaceful. Beautiful gardens to wander in. So much room to spread out. Fun beaches just up the road so the kids could play in the water. Outstanding property. Loved our stay.
A group of Pi Beta Phi Sorority sisters met for our yearly reunion at Green Gables Inn. it was a perfect place to visit, eat, and reminisce our college days! We loved the splendid accommodations..... extra large kitchen and two wonderful living rooms for gathering and puzzles! Ken is a delightful and friendly host...came to talk to our group about the history of the house and the surrounding area. Loved everything!

My sisters and I rented this home for a family gathering, and we’re so glad we did! It’s a spacious house with lots of places to hang out, inside and outside. The kitchen is loaded with everything we needed to cook meals, and large enough that we could all eat together around a table. We took advantage of nearby beaches and trails. Brenda and Ken are lovely hosts, and made sure we had everything we needed. We’ll be back for sure!

Thank you Bob, we are happy that you and your family enjoyed staying at Green Gable Inn!! Glad that you were able to enjoy the outdoor areas and the Secret Gardens.
It was a pleasure hosting you and your family, hope to see you again.
The property and home are straight out of a Better Homes & Gardens magazine. The kids loved the space both inside and out. Late night dance parties in the kitchen are a must. Only negatives are- the beds are a little soft, wifi slow, and the picture of the beach made us assume we were on the water. But that was our fault we should had researched better. Will stay here again!
Ideal holiday rental for a relatively big group. There are 5 separate-fully equipped bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, very comfortable for our groups of 9 adults. The house is stocked with plenty of furniture, appliances, and kitchen supplies. The backyard and surroundings are astoundingly beautiful, with meticulously kept landscape in a spacious 5-acre lot. House location is quite centrally located to nearby beaches where we spent a few days hunting for clams, oysters, and crabs. A lot of fun memories. Will definitely consider our return in future years.

A Little Slice of Heaven
My sisters and brother and I, plus spouses, gathered from all parts of the world for a sibling reunion. Green Gables (with the rental of both houses) allowed us plenty of space to spread out. Having two gathering spots gave those of us who just wanted to talk, a place to do that, and those that wanted media entertainment, a place for that. The design of the house is brilliant, and the decor is creative and super comfortable. Our ages ranged from 59-74, so many of us had mobility and sleep issues, and the accommodations provided easy access for all of us, and having bedrooms at each end of the house, away from the central kitchen area, made for peaceful, restful sleep. The grounds are park-like, and strolls in either direction lead to more scenic spots, the quaint townsite, and the water's edge.
Ken and Brenda have created the best retreat we've ever experienced. Most of us are travelers, have experienced a variety of lodging, and by far this has been the most enjoyable we have EVER had! Some highlights: SUPERB BEDS AND LINENS; COMFY COUCHES AND CHAIRS; RELAXING PORCHES; ABUNDANT DISHWARE; LUSH GARDENS AND BREATHTAKING FLOWERS; GREAT WATER PRESSURE; CLEAN AND SPOTLESS!
Will we be back? We hope so! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Fantastic location for a family reunion
We had a wonderful family reunion at Green Gable Inn. The house is beautiful - very well decorated, furnished, and very spacious! We had more than enough room for the 10 of us (6 adult-sized people and 4 kids) to spend time together but still have room to have quiet time as well. We rented the entire house with the guest house and that meant we had two full, well laid out kitchens, which came in handy for several of the big meals we prepared. Ken and Brenda, the home owners, were very responsive to all our questions and they were happy to give us suggestions as to where to go for activities and shopping. They even went above and beyond and purchased an inflatable twin mattress so that two of our children could share a room without having to share a bed.
The gardens are truly gorgeous! Other reviewers are right when they say that the online pictures do not do them justice. In addition to the garden in the front of the house there is also a beautiful forest garden behind the house that provided the children with plenty of space to run, play, and explore. It was quite hard to convince them to come back into the house even when it got nearly too dark to see.
This was our first visit to Hansville and the Kitsap peninsula and we really enjoyed exploring. The fishermen among us loved fishing for salmon at Point No Point while the fruit lovers among us enjoyed picking buckets of blackberries for cobbler and crisp. Ken had a few rods that he allowed us to borrow for fishing. Foulweather Bluff Nature Preserve provided the kids with hours of fun investigating all the animals that make the tidal flats their home. Kayaking at Poulsbo was also a high point as we were able to have some friendly encounters with harbor seals. One day we drove to the Olympic Peninsula for tide pooling, which was a fun new experience for those of us from the East Coast. We spent a day in Seattle as well, though honestly after the ferry and traffic of the city we all decided that it was far better just to stay on the peninsula. Oh, if you're a person who likes to go out for morning jogs or walks, there are also forested trails that act as shortcuts to the beach and Buck Lake which are fun to try out as well.
I would definitely recommend Green Gable Inn to large family and friend groups. We would love to stay there again if we ever return to Hansville!

We all enjoyed our stay in this safe, quiet, and spacious home. The vast gardens are a soulful retreat. The gorgeous landscaping elevates the experience and we were relaxed and restored when we left. The nearby Norwegian Point Park was a big hit with my grandson while I enjoyed the vast beach of Point No Point. Puget Sound is an amazing sight with giant cruise ships and other large vessels and sailboats passing along. I saw a pod of orcas and watched a fisherman reel in a huge salmon. This location is close to nearby historic Port Gamble and Poulsbo which we enjoyed visiting. We 100% recommend this beautiful property and thank you for this exceptional experience.
My family and I loved staying at this beautiful property. Extremely clean, and a peaceful, secluded location. Highly recommend to anyone looking in this area.
We truly loved our stay in late August. The home is in phenomenal shape, the kitchen was large and fully stocked allowing us to prepare a number of excellent meals, and the grounds and gardens are absolutely beautiful. I would recommend this property to anyone - it is gorgeous and close to fun in Hansville!
Perfect for an extended family get-together; gardens were just beautiful!
We loved our stay here! This was perfect for a family reunion with space for larger group as well as small group gatherings. The beds were comfortable and our hosts were very helpful; many thanks for providing such a wonderful property to your guests!
The grounds are over the top, the house clean and very well equipped the owners were very responsive to any questions that we had. There are two or three nice beaches within a short drive which the smaller children enjoyed. The older ones liked having a fire in the fire pit out in the back. We older ones enjoyed seeing everyone having such a good time. Thank you Brenda and Ken
