They are not kidding when it comes to the garage space it is tight but very doable . Autumn was great going through thing and really making a point about condo rules to avoid any extra fines. the place was clean and roomy. we did make a large meal . you do need to buy all of the basics such as foil, butter most seasonings.

We would stay here again . Very clean and comfortable .

Nice Location but Creepy Atmosphere with High Surveillance

  • 2 of 5

You need to know what you are getting into with this property. It's fantastic location and beautifully maintained by the rental management agency, but there is a turf war in this condominium building leaving vacation renters caught in the middle between the permanent owners and owners who use their units for short-term rentals, like this unit.

You notice it immediately when you get in the building with a list of violations posted in the elevator that were issued the previous month, including not waiting for the garage doors to fully close before driving away, letting people into the building without key fobs, allowing kids into the spa under 6 years old, smoking outside the building within 25 feet of any door or window, etc. There are literally dozens of rules and some are arcane and unusual. You need to be aware of them and follow these very closely. The building is under a high degree of surveillance and there are cameras all over the place being actively watched by people who are looking to penalize you. The violations are classified into 5 categories ranging from $100 up to $500, depending on the type of violation. Ask for the rules and read them carefully.

You need to watch out for unpublished rules also, which caused us an issue. We had a really unusual situation with our electric vehicle. At most places, you can plug into 120 volt outlets in garages. The garage at Belltown Court has approximately twenty 120 volt outlets spaced evenly throughout, presumably for use with vacuuming out cars and such. When we plugged in, we were threatened with the highest level fine for "construction in a common area". Connecting an electric cord is clearly not construction, but the building management was adamant that this rule included connecting electric cords. The rental agency attempted to intervene on our behalf and did their best, but in the end they backed down with "I'm just the messenger" as the stated response. I can understand their position, as they are trying to run a business out of the building and are hesitant to get into a big fight with the management and owners over issues with short-term renters, but be aware that you are pretty much at the mercy of the building management, who does not like you being there. Its a very uncomfortable position to be in and people should know what they are getting into.

Owner's Response: We're glad that this guest found the condominium and building beautifully maintained. We had a very odd experience with him--definitely a first in our six years of renting. Before he arrived, he asked if there was a place in the garage to plug in his Tesla. We told him there was not. When he arrived, he saw normal electrical outlets in the garage. He had an adapter to plug in his Tesla to a normal outlet and did so (without informing us). We received a nice call from the building management asking us to have our guest unplug his car as the outlets are not to be used except by building maintenance. We asked the guest to please unplug the car and gave him the location of a place next door where he could charge his Tesla if needed. (In Seattle, these are everywhere) We thought it was too bad the building management wouldn't make an exception for him, but they said they'd already been asked by other residents (there are 245 units in the building) and after telling them no, they couldn't make an exception for him. The guest was very appreciative our our efforts to get the building to make an exception for him, but he ultimately just couldn't take no for an answer--we tried our best and literally spent hours on it. This is despite the fact that he was told prior to arrival that there were not electric vehicle charging facilities for his Tesla. It was like dealing with a very spoiled child who believes rules don't apply to him. We spent so much time politely listening to him vent about what a dumb rule this was. As far as his claim that there is a turf war between short term renters and owners, that's just false and laughable. Most of the units in this building are rentals as it's one of the only condominium buildings in the Belltown neighborhood that permits short term rentals. It's true that there are a lot of rules, mostly having to do with safety (not letting people in who don't have a key, making sure the garage door closes behind you, making sure children are not unaccompanied at the pool), but I would say this is pretty standard for any condo association. I also don't think having security cameras at the entrances qualifies as "high surveillance." In the six years we've been renting our place, neither we nor our guests have ever incurred a fine for a rule violation. We wish this guest the best but probably won't be eager to host him again.

Great Place in a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Seattle. we had 5 people stay in this great condo in the heart of Belltown with parking. All the comforts of home are provided including a Nintendo Wii for entertainment. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Seattle. Autumn was great. She answered all our questions and was very helpful in making arraignments to pick up the key. We would definitely use this condo again.
