Bungalow, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Gorgeous, beautifully-appointed 1912 Craftsman bungalow in the premiere walking district of Seattle - theaters, restaurants, shopping and more shopping, parks and trails for walking and biking; close to bus lines to downtown Seattle, the Seattle Art Museum and Seattle Center and the Sound Transit trains; near the tulip fields and ferries to the San Juan Islands and historic areas north of Seattle; Mt. Rainier and Mount St. Helens are a day-trip; quiet, residential neighborhood with plenty of street parking. Relax in the sitting area out front for some quiet time under the weeping cherry, enjoy a short walk to one of the neighborhood theaters or restaurants (sushi, Italian, Japanese, Thai, vegetarian, fusion, pizza, etc., etc.). There's nothing you'll need that you can't find in Wallingford. The apartment is large and gracious with opening garden windows, which are visible to the right of the front door in the picture.

About Garnett Hundley

I live in the main part of this house - renting out the two separate apartments. I enjoy meeting new people and take great pleasure in being able to share this part of the country with others. There's so much to do here you'll have to come back time and time again to see it all.

Check out my other property, same location - 364168.

Garnett Hundley purchased this apartment in 1987

Why Garnett Hundley chose Seattle

I bought my house in 1987. Once I toured this neighborhood, I knew it was for me. The mother-in-law apartment was part of the house when I moved in - and has provided opportunity for 'sharing the wealth' all these years.

What makes this apartment unique

You'll be able to look out the back kitchen window at the lovely garden, close the curtains for a quiet and peaceful sleep in the bedroom, enjoy the bright sun and park-view from the living area. If the day is warm, open the divided-light porch windows and let the breeze blow in the scents of the flowers and trees that surround this charming property.

A Thoroughly Pleasant Experience

  • 5 of 5

Garnett's place was as advertised: a charming bungalow in a walkable neighborhood. There are many restaurants and shops nearby, and bus stops are within 2 blocks of the house. The apartment was well-appointed and had everything we needed. We were able to cook a few meals using the fabulous produce we bought at the weekly Farmer's Market in the neighborhood. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Perfect location - historical home

  • 4 of 5

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect location. The house is within walking distance to the market and several restaurants. The home is a gorgeous craftsman style built in 1919 with all the woodwork and style you'd expect.

You will be situated in one of the two apartments while the owner resides in the main house. The apartment is homey and comfortable, but don't expect the Ritz. What you give up in modern amenities and size you gain in character. Enjoy!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. This house was begun in 1912 and completed in 1917, along with the 4 other houses up the street. Apparently the builder used one floor plan, altered it slightly per house (front, roof line, room set-ups) and built 5 houses all at once....over 5 years. The Ritz it ain't, but it sure is a grand house, and a wonderful neighborhood. I'm glad y'all were here, and in such perfect summer days.

Lovely, safe neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

This little hide-away is a gem....lovely garden, cozy, well appointed rooms, beautiful historic house in a blissfully quiet area. Lots of light and cross breeze. You're in easy walking distance to everything you need - Wallingford is a lovely neighborhood where I felt perfectly safe walking home late at night. Close to the bus which takes you right downtown, an easy walk to UDub and an amazing view of the Settle skyline from the front yard. Garnett is an attentive host who makes you feel instantly at home. Her artistic flair is felt throughout the garden and rooms.

Lovely, comfortable house in a great neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I decided to visit Seattle as our babymoon destination before the birth of our third daughter. This was my first time using vrbo as we are usually hotel stayers so we can rack up rewards points. However, this time we wanted a "real-life" experience and the hotels in downtown Seattle were ridiculously expensive. Garnett's place is in a wonderful neighborhood and has been well maintained. The garden areas are beautiful, the bed is quite comfortable and you're within walking distance to a bunch of cute shops and restaurants. So glad we chose to stay here. There's free street parking across the street and so we just parked the car and used uber to get in and out of the city. This was the perfect vacation: relaxing, stress-free and we are so happy we had perfect weather too! Would definitely stay here again if we return someday.
